If you read this, i would like it (as im sure many others would) progress your content from guides to killers to a more meme style channel. As you mentioned before (i think?) theres only so many killers you can give a guide to/are enthusiastic to play, and most people watch your videos (i think?) for entertainment (as i do) so if you move towards using certain builds on killers and messing around in matches. For example, using demogorgen and make your choice and portals, or deathslinger with moniter and abuse and the two terror radius reduction perks (making him have no terror radius). Things like that and commentary would be a nice gradual progression if you ask me

First time I've watched but based on the overall tone, I feel like you've got self-awareness and some perspective... you didn't let yourself get stuck in the idea that you're always right (which I think we've all had at some point in our lives) - instead, you give a balanced overview of the topic. The only thing I want really is the dev team to take a year and de spaghettify the game or however long it would take I just want the game to last and rn it's like a rusty shitbox in the middle of the blizzard, it needs to be polished so that later the game is still playable without looking like a PowerPoint document, I love this game and i really hope they take the time to give the game what it needs

Perhaps if they gave him his old power. Then allowed him to have a weaker snare PLUS teleport... He could be really cool AND viable... If that’s too much then just make the time longer to put in the dream world.

Not even just because I find these videos hilarious or agree with everything he says. Thank you for giving my main a proper Jerk’s Guide! I will always love a nightmare on elm street and until Alien or Pennywise are introduced I will probably main him, but I agree that his old power was a lot cooler and made you feel like an actual dream demon.

I mained old freddy, they massacred my boy's loyalty to the film in exchange to annoying and poorly designed power, which isnt fun to use. Bring him back or at least put a toggle on in the menu so you can select which u wanna play
I understand what they were doing with the rework with the micro-naps but at the same thing it just doesn’t really feel like freddy. Don’t get me wrong old freddy was pure shit but when you got him to work it was sooooo satisfying. I personally miss being invisible and pulling a helpless victim into my own personal pocket dimension. Literally the only thing he needed was a buff to the dream transition, now it’s literally non existent

I remember the OG Freddy. Yeah it had issues, but I still managed to get Adept with him, and after his rework I can honestly say... He's the killer I play with the second highest body count. (Number 1 in moris though now that I think about it.)

@@mcgfn Lol. I play both killer and survivor, but I lean more toward killer since there's more variety to gameplay. Shrug. I play casually, so Freddy is one of my best killers because I have a lot of fun using him. For whatever reason though, I get more red moris in the bloodweb than any other killer. No clue why. (Also, I hear they plan on changing moris at some point to no longer be activated by offerings. So at this point, everyone might as well use them up before they're gone.)

That is because all killers are given the same range on their weapons to make it more balanced. That's why with Freddy, it looks like he hits you from where he shouldn't, add in the factor of how high the killers ping is and it can look ridiculous. But adding on to this, they make every killer have the same range so killers like Pyramid Head don't have a massive range advantage. So next time you are facing a Freddy, just think of him holding Trapper's cleaver.

People aren't pushing for crunch. These developers needed *literally* over 1.5 months to fix pallets flying up instead of down when broken. That's not them working hard but not quite 20 hours a day. That's them just not giving a shit. This is what the community is upset about - the bullshit, the gaslighting and the arrogance to think that they can do whatever and the players have to just suck it up or go play Civ V. Can't say that I'm part of the boycott tho - haven't touched the game for more than a day or two in 2 years now.
Thank you. I thought though the main criteria of the boycott idea now doesn’t mean people should not play the game, just don’t buy skins or new chapter until fixes are actually being made. Make the team actually fix the game from the newer bugs (specifically framerate after the RE chapter) under pressure of them losing that sweet sweet cosmetic revenue. People saying DeadByBoycott aren’t just kids kicking their feet and screaming “Make x killer stronger” or “nerf x perk”. It’s mostly people saying that the company should not be making anymore money from overpriced cosmetics and hastily produced DLCs while not listen to the player base on basically any glaring issue they’ve been avoiding for the most recent year.
The boycott isn't bullying it isn't calling for hate or attacks they're saying "fix the game and earn our money and support" I didn't know telling someone to do their job is bullying

As someone who supports the boycott, I don't want them to implement a crunch-culture schedule. I want them improve their QA process, fix the issues they discover before releasing a patch, and if they need more time to get it right, slow down their schedule a bit/delay patches. I'd be fine with 3 chapters a year if they actually released in a stable and balanced state. Maybe then they'd also have more time to make other improvements to the game and fix the foundation/long-standing bugs. I don't think that's unreasonable, especially considering the game has been unplayable for my poor friends on last gen consoles for the past MONTH (also the entire anniversary event).
I think the nature of writing a comedy video makes it difficult to get into the finer details without sacrificing pacing, but I'm perfectly content with the camp that says "This game does not deserve my money/attention right now, and possibly ever again". The problems are there, for everyone to see. If you don't see it changing, eh I think you should hop off for your own sake.
I DO take issue with the "The devs have an ego problem and are destroying the game because they don't care about it." camp. And those are most of the faces I see gunning for the boycott.
I think individual decision-making, for your own tastes, is way more chad-like and respectable. Aligning with a bunch of redditors so that you can feel powerful for a day? Not so cool. But I think that maybe I'm the only one who can see that distinction.

Individuals rarely affect change though and an organized movement has a higher chance of success. I think BHVR actually can change and improve the quality of their product if more people stop throwing mountains of money at them for minimal effort and broken patches.

Actually the trickster rework is interesting, it still feels and match the trickster theme while for overall balance/meta the skill is still useless against long loop/god loop so yeah, i know

I think it’s the fact dbd has no viable competitors that is what really fuels things like this boycott movement. B/c people have no other game to go to if they want the experience dbd offers and so it feels frustrating when you really enjoy parts of the game but know that it will always be weighed down by a mountain of technical issues.

Yeah, ever since nemesis came out, my game randomly freezes when i start to use my power, so like if i was huntress i pull up a hatchet and freeze fr 10 seconds, them leaving and me losing
I would love to play right now but the lag spikes make it impossible to play at the moment everytime something happens the whole game freezes for a good 10 second so that sucks I hope they fix it soon so I can finally play again but meanwhile I’m just gone watch some video really enjoy your content keep it up !!!
I only remember playing old Freddy, but I mained him because he was horribly obnoxious to play against - once he tagged you, you couldn't hide, only run and pray he was working on someone else.
As for my perks, it was stupid but hilariously effective: Nurse's Calling to stop sleepers ninja-healing in my terror radius, then because I'm an asshole, I backloaded them all into endgame to make it less flaccid for him, with NOED, Blood Warden and Remember Me. I didn't get to use it all most of the time because Freddy made a lot of people commit hook-Entity, but when I did it was *glorious*.
When I make the mistake of coming back to DBD, I find myself missing my dumb idiot asshole killer, and play Wraith instead for a fix of bingo bongo unga bunga.

As a Trickster main, I would actually LOVE that rework. You’re right. Gives him identity, has a more fun skill gap, and makes it more fun for the survivors to get lay against.
Tips for Freddy for anyone that needs em , in a chase spam dream snares they take practically no time to place and will help eventually, tinkerer and pop are amazing on Freddy when tinkerer goes off teleport and kick. If you like ruin more grab undying to protect your ruin and surveillance(pig perk, every time a gen is regressing it will shine white if someone starts working on it, it will turn yellow for 16 seconds.) teleport to the yellow gens.
regarding 4:08 the trick with dream pallets is to never respect pallets ever, it's a waste of time, even if the pallet is real just try to lunge through it anyways. if you do the exact same thing at every pallet and just eat the stuns to kill the pallets early on, that's more spots for dream pallets, no margin of error, and forces the survivor to toss them every single time dream pallet or no dream pallet. eating stuns might sound bad but you genuinely save more time and get more value out of being stunned and breaking a pallet than you do dancing around one for awhile
also at 4:53 the invisibility isn't really supposed to help freddy, it's just a reference to the nightmare on elm street movies where people would be flung around the room in the real world for seemingly no reason while in the dream world they're actively being attacked or manipulated by freddy. i guess technically it MIGHT make flashlight saves more difficult? but it's just a reference for flavor
Thank you for being one of the few voices of reason in this incredibly toxic community. I get people are upset with how the game's been going, but why believe the devs are seemingly getting themselves off to our frustration or are too incompetent to fix a game they've been working on for five years?
Personally speaking, while yes I'm upset with how this chapter and anniversary has been going (thanks to both BHVR and the community), I have faith BHVR will turn things around at some point. I think the best thing they can do is slow down with the Killer/Survivor releases, change it from every 3 months to every 6 months. Yeah I'm sure people in the community will bitch that they're being "lazy", but if the last three Killers have shown anything, this 3 months cycle is clearly taking its toll. Making it 6 months will not only give them more room to design Killers/Survivors and their perks, but also give them breathing room to really rework Killers and other aspects of the game. Who knows, maybe old Freddy will comeback, at least I hope so.
Whenever I play Freddie I just dont respect any pallets. I'll happily eat a pallet if it means messing with their minds.
Also as of dec. 2023, thrilling tremors from ghostface is a very useful perk on him. Pick up a survivor and every gen that isn't being worked on will be blocked and highlighted white. So you know exactly which gen to teleport to after you get a hook
Stories and games are different concepts.
I don't think you're correct to lump them together as "media."
One is entertainment through narrative; exploring truths, relationships and the human condition.
The other is an interactive form of play, where the entertainment is found in how you can overcome a unique set of challenges with different tools/abilities.
You can't "play" a story, not do you merely "experience" a game without interaction.
I enjoy your analysis, but I think you're a little hit and miss with your identification of what the problems truly are.
Sometimes you'll name the exact problem perfectly with a certain perk or game concept, and offer a very reasonable solution.
Other times, imo, you'll identify the frustrating factors, but not their root cause.
However, your conclusion about media not being meant to be infinitely ongoing, I think absolutely applies to stories, and thereby story games as well.
I seathed so hard at his rework I dropped the game entirely. Miss having my 24/7 survivors aura revealed but don't think many people knew about that build.

I miss old Freddy. He wasn't "OMG he's so OP!" but he felt a lot more iconic than current one. Everyone knew he was getting nerfed, it was just a matter of 'when', and now I don't ever see him. As a horror slasher icons, he's number 1 or 2, depending on Jason's position on your list. So sad that nobody plays him anymore.

I've always been a huge freddy fan, so i was honestly let down with how he was set up.
If it were me id have 2 states for the survivors "Awake" and "Asleep" Give the traps the ability to put survivors to sleep.
Give Freddy the ability to only attack the players in a dream state (it'd more accurate) while making him invisible to players who are awake. Rather than attacking awake characters he applies debuffs to them when he hits them
-Insominia: Increases skill check difficulty and reduces movement speed while awake
-Microsleep: Player falls asleep at random and wakes up at random for the duration of the match
-Paranoia: Once in a dream state the player is within Freddy's terror radius regardless of Freddy's position. (so even if you are on opposite sides of the map, the game will still act as if the killer is nearby)
Give Freddy two modes, Dream world and Waking world. Where he has to go between the two to target the players. Attacking the sleeping survivors in Dream Mode, and debuffing the waking survivors in Waking mode.
This'll give Freddy a unique playstyle that is both requires strategy and timing to play, but also makes Freddy feel like Freddy.
I love the fact that another one of these has come out, because I love this series

I started playing this game a few months ago and the Dbd community takes this game waaaaay too seriously. What up with that guy that has only done Dbd themed videos for all 5 years of his channel’s existence? Or that other TH-camr that makes a list for every conceivable topic? Top survivors, top killers, killers most liked by entity, killers likelihood of defeating the entity, what degree each survivor would likely pursue at a community college.
Scrolling through all the hipster fedoras who can't wait to tell you how much they "loved old Freddy" for his "unique and fun gameplay" is like watching group psychosis happening in real time.
Old Freddy sucked, his powers made you basically an observer to the game until you were able to follow someone long enough to use your "do you have a moment to talk about the dreamworld?" power until you could suck them in and THEN finally get a hit on them. Did I mention this power is literally negated by blowing up a generator in your face and boom? He can't do anything to you again until her follows you around spamming his dream suck again?
Reworked Freddy is an actual competent killer, if a little boring and predictable. In fact he was probably the most powerful "traditional chase" killer upon his rework (Nurse and Spirit still holding them top spots). He's certainly still A tier and a very easy killer for most people to be successful with. Of course since he's "annoying" and "difficult" for survivors to play against we all have to pretend he's "badly designed" and "no one should enjoy playing him".
Fuck you, I love him. I love the fact that he makes survivors as miserable as they make me when I'm playing a "fun" D tier killer. I love watching an SWF go from "oh man can't wait to bully this killer" to "oh man this game sucks". I play Freddy to make someone else miserable, he's my revenge killer, I play him to take out frustrations of last game on some unsuspecting survivors in the next game. Oh and I go full meta with him too. BBQ and Chili, PGTW, STBFL, and Brutal Strength, and Snares. Good luck in chases.
Would I play Freddy at Rank 1? Not normally, I'll play Nemesis, Demigorgon, Legion, etc. But will I play his ass to make the rank reset climb every month? You damn skippy.
Everybody that wants to boycott hasn't put any real hours into the game to know how far its come and how good it is now. I wish next anniversary they just revert everything back to 1.0.0. Back when killer shack had 2 windows, killers took 5 seconds to vault, there was no gen slowdown perks, every vault was a fast vault, connection was peer to peer, exhaustion didn't exist and Sprint Burst was just on a cooldown. New moon bouquets, brown/yellow map offerings, Splinter offerings would let you try a killer before buying them. BnP would instantly complete a gen, Instablind flashlights, instaheals, etc.
You don't need to boycott a game to show dissatisfaction. I haven't touched For Honor for half a year(?) now because I was bored of it. Now I'm thinking of re-installing it. Same went for Overwatch or Gears of War 5.
Don't Boycott, just don't play. Focus on something else that does make you happy, and chances are that more people than just you will have the approach, and inadvertently bring the game closer to actually dying before a great resurgence happens.
With that out of the way: great video! I always love your deadpan delivery of your out-of-the-box analogies, and the hard hitting points that you make are not lost on anyone. Keep it up, man! Wether it's DBD or a different game that you decide to tackle.
i would in my opinion put Freddy in C rank he was nerfed way to much on top of that i put him in C rank because of his ADD-ONS became almost all complete garbage. that and demo does a better job at teleporting. i also think killers should get 5 perks not 4 they're going vs survivors who get 16 total and survivors can get team perks or perks for themselves which is insane. they would have to nerf s teir killers with 5 perks and do some testing but i think it would be fair, i hardly even use hex totems in higher gameplay they will just take it within 2mins its so dumb so what basically force to have undying 2 perks slots just for a freaking hex thats a maybe.

Wait 7 sec for survivors to touch gens, run close enough to gens to get them to bug while bait further gens with teleport.
Hook get bbq view on other players. Allows you to know where everyone is.
Blood trap allows you to protect totem and close loops quickly.
Guys am I the only that has an idea to buff a lot freddie? For example when a survivor is in the dream world at the place of doing a lunge attack he can extend his arm for 4 meters (with cooldown), and then has a 2 seconds speed buff to keep up with the survivor. I also though that he could change his original glove with the syringe glove (inflicting deep wound and also has a cool down of some seconds and can be used on people also aputside the drram world), and ofc he can keep his power, what do you guys think about it?
Oh, boy! I'm gonna get shit for this, BUT Tricky boy is not a bad killer. If used correctly he CAN be high-B tier WITHOUT HIS BUFF. People are thinking he's bad, cuz they are trying to use him incorrectly, so PLS don't bully him, there are WAY worse killers.
I miss his old power so much, it was shit. But it was true to who Freddy is. I think the big question is ask yourself "could I give X's powers to another character" and if the answer is yes, then might as well bust out the shovel. It's even worse if they've already been made twice over like Myers and his fanboys or the trap/slow gang. It's why I love that trickster idea, despite knowing I'd never win a game with him

Many people have done new to red rank with no perks. No way to counter/make meta builds easier to handle, so don't whine. I don't play the game, so I'm not biased at all.
My only question to the survivors is, is his dream world mechanics really that obtuse?
Cause the fact that his snares and pallets only work in the dream world leads me to believe that he should be powerful when in the dream world, and weak when not. Yet I'm also willing to bet that most of the complaints against him, came from survivors who wouldn't bother to wake up. (Is doing so really that difficult?)
I wish the devs would have put more time into the Freddy rework, he barely resembles his movie counterpart, i even have an idea for a concept that has the old and new version combined and still (possibly) make him a good killer, short version: it’s old Freddy with some of the powers of new Freddy and a little bit of extra but if anyone is interested in a bit more detailed explanation just keep reading:
At base he is like his old self, he has to put survivors into sleep and is only visible in dream world and has the stats of normal killer.
-first: survivors have an automatic clock like the modern version that puts them into sleep after a minute and Freddie has to put them into sleep by holding his power for like 5 seconds (like the old version) but while they start to fall asleep they begin to flicker in and out of the dream world and if Freddy hits the right timing he can injure them before they fall completely asleep, the survivors also see Freddy flickering in and out while they fall asleep (they flicker if Freddy puts them into sleep by himself or in the last 10 seconds of their timer)
-he has the snares or dreampallets (with the addons) and place them like his rework version and they only work on sleeping survivors
-last his teleport, same as rework but it has a longer cooldown, if you cancel it it depletes half of the charge and if you teleport to awake survivors, the ones that are still touching the gen while you teleported are immediately put into sleep and all around that are not touching the gen but in a 6 meter radius of it are put into a flickering sleep state for 10 seconds before falling asleep

I think you didn’t get body blocked enough by awake survivors when carrying someone back in the days to understand the entire sleep mechanic had to be changed.
Although I agree they should allow you to place both type of traps. Idk why this is an add on, they aren’t even that strong.
A group of people without an outlet for their rage? Good way of putting it, crunching is by no means what I think the devs should go for, but I do support the boycott because I feel that right now, they should be crunching. When your game is in this poor of state, you should work to get it fixed as humanly possible. No one's been complaining about the slowness by itself but rather how despite being slow their game still is more consistently buggy than any other game I've known.
Honestly i dont agree with making the devs crunch but i do agree that some things are baffeling on how little the devs care
For example i play Deathslinger on console. A lot. And since the last few months ive still been having a bug where everytime i ADS the game occasionally freezes for a good second, making me completly beef my shot.
Its the devs refusal to fix things like that which irk me

the fact that survivors can see me when they're awake just kind of throws everything off. Just like bringing back the reverse bear trap to go off in the little exit area cuz in which movie can you leave the game with the trap still on your fucking face.
I boycott because Im not really someone that spends money on the game. For example, I just bough the Ghostface chapter, Leatherface and Halloween. Im not the type of person that buys something that just came out, I generally wait long periods of time. So I was going to help the boycott anyway, I just play to have fun and buying stuff with auric cells is not my thing
Anybody who thought Freddy was too strong and needed a Nerf. Is probably and hopefully kicking themselves now Instagram reason. Freddie used to be pretty awesome despite being a fairly simplified representation, but now you need the add-on that Swaps dream snares for dream pallets to make him even kind of a slight little bit worthwhile/enjoyable to play.
