How to make an Automatic Pig Waterer. Quick DIY project using Jobe Megaflow Valve

Here's a quick project you can try if you are looking for an easy way to get water to your pigs that are on pasture! These Jobe Megaflow Valves are amazing and extremely reliable. We have used one with the cows for a year now and it's been problem free. The pigs have been using this setup now for 2 weeks and I haven't had an issue with it yet as well. We are all about making our farm as efficient as possible and having a water setup that is hands off saves us a ton of time. We encourage you to give it a try!

I’ve just subscribed and purchased the pig shelter plans. Thanks for the info. I have a question. The chicken tractor your meat birds were in, did you build this? If so do you sell the plans? I’ve not seen one that an adult can stand up in, which is what I need. If you didn’t build did you purchase from a supplier? Where? who? Your channel is very informative. Thanks, I’m just starting my homesteading journey in retirement.

Thanks for following along! We are trying to be a mixture of informative and entertainment both. I’m pretty good at learning the hard way. Trying to pass that info along as I figure it out myself.
I built and designed my big chicken tractor myself. I don’t have any plans available at the moment but I’d be happy to help answer question as you have them. I can point you in the right direction for materials as well if needed. The chicken tractor has worked out great!

What kind of algae problems are you running into with this set up? Thinking of doing this with our water trough for the goats and possibly for the watering hole I created near my deer stand.

I haven’t had any algae problems with the pig’s tank. It gets dumped and rinsed everytime we move them though. I think that’s the key to keeping the tank clean is flushing it out every week or two. The one I use for cows I have more issues with but I’m only cleaning it out every month or so. Either way it’s a way better setup than anything else I’ve used up to this point. Hope that helps!

What breed of pigs are those? Do you have any videos of how you have the pen setup and how much space you have for them?

I had a mix of Hampshire & Yorkshires this year. At the moment I do not have a video recorded of my starter pen. After they leave the training pen I only use the hot wire which I believe a few of my videos show. My training pen is 16’ x 32’ and I just use hog panel from Tractor Supply. I run the hot wire on 2 walls of the pen to get them use to the wire. By the 4th week or so we are using only hot wire and no panels. I plan to do a video on all of this but it will not be until April when we bring the next batch of pigs in. If you have questions though just let me know. I’ll do my best to answer.

3 is a good number to start with. 2 is the minimum. They don’t do well alone. We’ve gradually gone up in quantity over the years. The homestead is looking good! I like the place you are building. Looks pretty nice!

@@michaelstrahl Thank you! It's been a long road to get where we are at in the build. Right now we are living at my inlaws and my mom is at an extended stay. Hopefully we will be in before Feb.
We also want to get some goats as more of pets than anything.
