Looks like it's hard to clean out the area they drink in. I know they are pigs, but I can't stand watching them drink nasty water especially in the summer.
Clean clear water is a must for me too. I just spray that area out with the hose and that does pretty good. If there gets to be to much mud in there then I will have to scrape it out by hand but I don't do that to often.
I raise a few hundred head of pigs a year. I have 4 waterers just like this but made by Hawkeye Steel that I use for pasture farrowing. Very time consuming to clean in comparison to other waterers due to the lip on the trough opening. I use a square plastic box that screws came in and scrape the bottom. When these rust out, I'm going to either buy an 80 gallon poly waterer like a Brower, or I'm going with a confinement type bowl waterer made out of stainless steel with a nipple feeding it. Or a cast iron cup. These work, but I regret buying them. And if you have pigs on concrete with an underground water line, nothing beats a Smidley hog bar waterer made of 304 stainless steel, they last a lifetime. They also cost $1,000 for a 6 hole waterer, lol.
Can you take a picture of the directions on adjusting that float?.
I cant get my float to stop the water
I have a similar tank. How do you keep the water from constantly running out the front ?
Thanks for the review, thinking of getting for my farm critters
thanks for the review.
My last round of pigs wouldn't take to the barrel nipple. I was wondering if this would help keep the water clean?
It keeps the main tank clean but the drinking area can fill with mud and such
where can you get them
Him much does it cost?
