How to Build a DIY 16' x 7' Soccer Goal using PVC!
The kids had been wanting a goal for a while now & I finally decided to build them one. I picked up a replacement net & some PVC pipe to accomplish this. I used 3" schedule 40 PVC for the main frame & 2" for the back part of the frame. Total build time took me about 3 hours or so.
Dimensions I used to make goal shown. (If I were to do this again I would add approx. 6” to the width of the frame & make the goal approx 3-4” taller.)
Front Frame:
All Piece were cut to 33.5” on outside of frame
The center frame section is 103.5”
Diagonal piece is 48”
Sides:
Diagonal is 74.25”
Bottom is 60”
Top Piece is 28”
Back of Frame:
10’ piece coupled to a 66”
Materials I used for this build:
(I sourced all the PVC materials from my local Menards. I’ll link what I can from Amazon though in case it’s more helpful for you.)

      And here you are choosing to make disrespectful comments to someone you don’t know based on one 60 second video that I intended to be more humorous than anything. We all have our bad days. I choose to try and make light of those days and wake up the next day and start over. Apparently you were given the gift of criticizing others instead of just shaking your head and moving on. You are no better than me my friend. I’m an imperfect soul just like you. We could all be a little more appreciative of the blessings God has given us. Thanks for pointing out my flaws though. I’ll be sure to do better just for you!

      Thanks for the feedback. Editing is not my strong suit but I’m learning. I’ll work on it! What editing software you recommend? I’m still using iMovie since it’s free. @@michaelstrahl strangely enough I've never used iMovie. I think if you're comfortable with it, it's fine. I love final cut pro 7, I've been using it for many years. But I've had the modernize and I'm using final cut pro x. It's a major learning process and I'm struggling because it's such a large change. It seems easy to work with the audio though. It definitely has a lot of possibilities. You can isolate a voice from background noise. It is pretty awesome if you're in a noisy room or outside with wind. I'm actually not a fan of Adobe premiere especially on earlier versions. it's really hard to deal with audio.

    • @michaelstrahl
      @michaelstrahl 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ok that’s good to know. I feel pretty limited with iMovie. It’s what I had so I just went with it. I don’t know how advanced I want to be but I don’t want the software to be what limits me. I’m trying to figure out how everyone does the slide overlays on screen. For example if I wanted to do a cost break down while I’m talking about a project. iMovie has been great to get started but I feel like there are some efficiencies I’m missing out on because of its beginner oriented nature. I think Final Cut is probably the investment I need to make in the future.

    • @ledzepcleo
      @ledzepcleo 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@michaelstrahl maybe you'd have an easier time learning it. It's just so tough for me because I know the previous version so well. There's definitely a lot of TH-cam videos out there that help with final cut pro x. I don't think I've done graphics in it at all. I will have to check it out. We usually make graphics in Photoshop and bring them in FCPx.

    Glad I saw this follow-up video. My goats would destroy this. That metal doesn't look as tough as what I have on the roof of my house, but it is corrugated the same way, I wonder. I think I'd have to have the metal come closer to the ground because my goats would stick there head in there and lift up the whole shelter, and I only have Nigerian.

    • @michaelstrahl
      @michaelstrahl 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The metal is roofing that Menards sells. I do know there are different gauges available though. The shelter does a pretty good job of staying in place. I just had to fix the weak points. Time will tell as they get bigger if it stronger this year or not. 🤞🏻

    I need this for my goats. I'd want to leave both sides open though, but I'm sure it would work just as well.I have a permanent shelter and I'm ready for a change. I still want a shelter to separate the bucks, for birthing, and for milking, but want to move to portable shelters like this. I just hope they'd be tough enough to withstand goats ripping them apart.

    Your kids jumping up onto the trailer during loading didn't help matters. Also, a solid panel works better to move hogs. As others have stated position the trailer prior to loading and feed inside the trailer for a week or so. Also, the wooden ramp spooked the animals. Hogs don't like a change of footing to walk on. I'd just have them jump up into the trailer from the dirt alley.

    • @michaelstrahl
      @michaelstrahl 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really appreciate the feedback. I agree I need a better plan for the kids. I want them included but they can’t make things more difficult on the load. Solid panels are a must this year. That’s been the biggest feedback I’ve received. Feeding in the trailer still worries me. I’m not sure my trailer can handle it. Hopefully I can address some metal issues I have before the next load. The wood ramp didn’t help. I agree with you. The year before they struggle to get in the trailer. It wasn’t mine and it sat hire though. All good stuff! Thanks again for the help!

      The only other Video I have is a short of the project when we did it. I’ll leave a link here for that. It’s not in depth but does show part of the install we did. th-cam.com/users/shortsEid5JJVlzvU?si=ymGpkHbPo4GvFc15 If you have any specific question I can answer I’ll give it a shot. Unfortunately everyone’s situation will be different. Your frost line will likely be different than mine. How far you run your water line and your water pressure will determine your water line size. I’m not a professional by any means but I usually know enough to be dangerous on projects like these.

      I can respect that. I’ve had those thoughts before as well but then I remember everything down south is bigger and wants to kill you! 🤣 I think every area geographically has its pros and cons. Ideally if I could have my perfect climate I would probably choose Tennessee. 😁

    Back in the Dark Ages (1970's) I visited England. Somewhere in a rural area I observed a very large pig pasture with thousands of perdectly aligned (likely laid out by a surveyor).pig shelters. For me it was shocking. The shelters were very strange to me, but there was also no visible mud. It appeared that they had trained the pigs to not make wallers.

    • @michaelstrahl
      @michaelstrahl 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Now you have me curious as what exactly you saw. I wonder if they were mobile or permanent shelters. I can’t imagine it’s possible to train a pig not to make a mud hole. It’s just their instinct but I could be wrong. I know some breeds of pigs are not near as destructive as others however. Either way I’m sure that was some sight to see back in the day. 😁

    You do need caps on the open skid ends. Water gets in during rain or snow, temps drop, water freezes and pipe splits. Also, untreated steel will rust where the water has settled inside of the uncapped pipe.

    • @michaelstrahl
      @michaelstrahl 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good looking out. I’ve actually got it sitting up against a round bale right now so the water doesn’t sit. I need to find some caps but they are hard to find for that size tube and the ones I purchased originally were pretty poor quality.

    • @easyworkacres
      @easyworkacres 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michaelstrahl you could probably get som basic pvc pipe caps. Since the caps go over the pipe instead of inside the water should shed off easily. Even if they don’t fit over the pipe super snug you could throw a small screw in the side to keep em on.
