Great video. I owned one in 1984 in deep forest green. Just some interesting facts about the hyromatic transmissions. There wasn't a park selection but reverse turn into park and locked the gear train when the flathead eight was turned off. It also had two first gears, one was rarely engaged unless a full pressed to the floor of the gas pedal. Discovered accidentally and the front end jumped briefly into regular first gear. Awesome daily driver. One failing of the straight 8 was the bronze distributor bushing. At a angle coming out of the side off the block, when worn would cause a loss of contact with 2 to three point contacts in the cap.
My dad owned a 1948 Pontiac 4 door with hydromatic trans and maroon paint job. We kept it until the early sixties. Always reliable and comfortable on long trips.
Thank you for keeping it stock and keeping it real 1948. It's beautiful as is and I wouldn't bother with the chrome. Most 1948 Pontiacs I've seen in my lifetime have Hydramatics. LOVE seeing those original working gauges with no aftermarket gauges attached to the dash. SO glad it has the original 6 volt with generator (it's so pointless and unnecessary to change to a 12 volt) The only thing I would do if I had it would be adding seat belts since i would drive it and not leave it sit all the time.
Very nice 👍 I remember this model. My Mother owned one. It's the same car except hers was grey. Love the car and would be proud to own! Very nice John, keep up the amazing work. Hope to see you soon! Roger
My late father had a 1950 Pontiac Chieftain that he bought used from the original owner in 1956. It was similar to this one except it had no large fenders.
"DAMN, SAM"... JUST GORGEOUS... THIS IS THE FIRST ONE I'VE SEEN... SINCE THIS IS THE "ORPHAN CAR GARAGE"... I WOULD LOVE TO BE THE PROUD PARENT OF ONE OF THESE BEAUTIFUL AUTOMOBILES... PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN ADOPT 🥰
I have a 48 Pontiac silver streak exactly like that. I sent the grill off to be chromed and the man took my grill and my money and left do you know where I can find a grill for this car?
I just purchase a 1948 Pontiac silver streak it has two door. It has never been repainted. It has some surface rust what I would call sun rust I would like to have it painted however I do not want it to be a show type painting.. Just a good honest paint job It's a straight 6 with three on the tree. I live in Wilmington North Carolina. I am looking for an Indian hood ornament
This car looks like a dream. Someone out there wrecked PMD, General Motors Corporation. The former GMC president was seemingly responsible for this terrific loss. Jeers to the guilty party. No anesthesia at his next dentist appointment. Drill without novacaine..
No such thing as a ''silver streak '' that's just a badge, 2 models for 48 are streamliner or torpedo , that's a streamliner, nice car , I have a 2 door.

That's an absolutely gorgeous car. Wow
Wood Dash and Wood Window Trim is incredible. I have a 48 fleetline and it turns heads every time I take the boys out for ice cream.
Postwar design was special. Looks like one fine Pontiac.
Gorgeous. As always.
When cars were ART PIECES... suited for common men...but worthy of kings ...

Best to contact your local and national Pontiac clubs. They are a very helpful and active group.
