It's a work of art, and to think they were mass-produced to this standard. It could not be done today. I love the color-matched interior, right down to the steering wheel. The color is Hunter Green.
My grandfather got a new Buick every two years back then. What I remember as a kid back then is how heavy those doors were when the car was parked on a slope. One of his Buicks was from that same dealer, the others were bought in Gordon Nebraska. His ranch was between those two towns.
Yes, back in those days you could afford a new car every other year. The saying was then, "the darned ash trays are full, so, it's time to get a new car, I guess"!! LOL
@@tedecker3792 Yup, that's how I got my first car, at age 17, a 1955 Ford Ranch Wagon, 2 door, now highly collectable; as my dad got a brand new 1964 Dodge truck for his business, as a home builder, in L.A. :D

Pat. There was no Roadmaster in 59. But I know what you mean. Hehe. I had a 58 & 59 Buick back in the early 60’s. The 58 was by far the better of the two.
Love this ode to chrome Buick. Also your color coordinated shirt. I know! When just a child, there was this old woman named Mable. She had a 58 Buick, in black. She visited a neighbor regularly, turning the front end into the curb, until the curb feelers told her to stop. The big rear end sticking out. Thanks for the memories . This is the best of the best chrome-laden GM behemoth from the mind of Harley Earl. Check those rear bumper corner, 100lbs balls of PURE chrome on each corner. It's so bad, that it's good.
"Quality"? The nail head engine in that car would be burning oil before it got to 50k miles. The Dynaflow transmission sounded worse than a Japanese CVT and was incredibly inefficient. The drum brakes barely stopped the thing on a good day and not at all in the rain. Even the upholstery in those cars didn't last five years under normal wear. Enjoy the nostalgia of the styling but cars today are so much better in every way that you simply cannot compare them.

How interesting! Here in Australia the Holden car had a Powerglide transmission! 2 speed auto as well. Nowadays often put behind big horsepower engines as if built correctly, they can handle it.
