  • So this is it folks, we finally bought a house in The Villages. We look forward to becoming residents here, it's a beautiful place for an active lifestyle. We will miss being on the water in the keys however. I'm sure we will frequent them often.

    Great video. Beautiful home. If you wanted, during the building process, could you have customized the interior before the house was finished? For instance, could you have installed your own wood floors, custom kitchen, and custom bathroom? What about paint colors? Is there a specific palate code you have to abide by? Sorry for all the questions.

    • @LifestyleinTheVillages
      @LifestyleinTheVillages  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually your questions are very good. Don't know the official answer to any of them however it is my understanding that when you're building a home you have limited options on what you can do to customize it. However after you own it you can in fact ripped out all the new items and put in what you want. That's why new homes are less expensive than pre-owned homes for the most part. The first owners typically will do some type of upgrade if that's putting in custom floors adding garage screens or whatever. I am sure a village real estate agent could you give you more specific details as this is simply my understanding. I'm confident I will learn more and as I do I will share it in the months to come. Thanks for watching and much appreciate your questions.

    • @LifestyleinTheVillages
      @LifestyleinTheVillages  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, thanks for reaching out. Sooo funny thing is, a new home in the villages often cost less than a pre-owned home. Reason being is that prior owners typical make improvements such as custom driveways, adding crown molding, add screens to the garage, add customer buildouts, eves trough etc. Additionally they may upgrade appliances and often leave the washer and dryer that normally are not included in a new home. The home we purchased was @ $530K (3 bedroom, 2 bath designer home), it is a pre-owned home (2 years old) and has several upgrades. The fit and finish of our home are quality (faucets, sinks, showers etc). Overall we are please with the quality of the home. I hope you find this helpful. If you purchase in the villages, please be sure to let us know. Take care, Karen

    Do you have to get permission to plant foliage privacy?

    • @LifestyleinTheVillages
      @LifestyleinTheVillages  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi it is my understanding that you do need to seek permission to alter , expand foliage. I've been told the process is quick and simply. I will provide details on our experience when we decide how we want to make changes. In our house we replaced a significant amount of tile - three bedrooms and the lanai - total cost @ $11K. We went with Roberto's floors & remodeling, www.RobertosFlooring.com. I worked directly with Rafael, the owner, and paid cash (via a check). His price was about $500 less than the other quotes I got. Rafael's crew was professions, quick and did a VERY nice job. Three days after the install I received a phone call indicating Roberto's wanted to offer to have my house cleaned. I about fell over - of course I wanted the house cleaned! Stephanie Edelman with Spar Klean SVC Maids LLC, Stephanieopf@hotmail.com, cleaned my house - she was very sweet and did a very nice job. We will highlight these services in an upcoming video. I hope you find this response helpful . Have a GREAT day!

    • @LifestyleinTheVillages

      Hi, the house listed at $549. In the Villages they do not have an HOA, however there is a monthly amenity fee of sorts which is just under $200 a month. This gives you access to all the golf course, pools, rec centers and over 3,000 clubs. Hope this helps you out. :)

    • @LifestyleinTheVillages

      Is your question specific to the Villages (literally thousands of things to do) or Central Florida in general? If Central Florida in general - we plan to do overlanding, state parks etc. Check out our Overwater Overland Channel www.youtube.com/@OverWaterOverLand . We are super excited to check out Florida, will be much easier to do so being in a more central location then the Keys. :)

    I think anyone who cooks would agree that gas is better! The problem is that the climate crazy Democrats are going to force everyone to use electric stoves, just like they are working towards forcing everyone to buy electric cars that don’t meet people’s needs. The only people buying EV’s are people who have a 2nd car to use for trips; have the wealth to pay the average cost of 62k vs 49k for gas cars; have no plans to tow a boat, camper, or any trailer because the range will be 50% less; not to mention that the used price of the car will be next to nothing because a replacement batter will cost 20k! Innovation should drive adoption rather than being forced to innovate!

      Please, let’s keep politics out of conversations….Geez. I own a Tesla as my only vehicle. I chose to purchase an electric vehicle
      I am not worried about resale value, either. I am also installing solar panels on my home…trying to do my share for the environment

    • @LeoCloutier
      @LeoCloutier ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As a conservative who also owns a Tesla, the one thing I've noticed is that people who make comments like this have just swallowed a narrative and aren't afraid to trot out their ignorance. I didn't buy it for the environment or because I care about whether everyone should be driving electric vehicles by 2035. I drive it because it's a GREAT car. The fact that I don't have to buy gas is a side benefit. The cost of a new Tesla Model 3 is equal to the cost of many gas vehicles today. The battery will last over 300,000 miles, and on the off chance you get one that needs to be replaced, you'll know that long before the 120K mile warranty expires, when you'll get it replaced for free. Last time I checked, new gas cars have lemon engines every so often, as well.
      I do not believe that anyone should be forced to adopt electric. I don't even believe in the current tax incentives to get people to buy them because it's a colossal waste of taxpayer money. But that is NOT the fault of Tesla. They didn't draft the legislation nor did they lobby for it. But in the same way that any commercial enterprise will take advantage of gov't stupidity, Tesla will obviously be the beneficiary of this gov't handout.
      What is difficult to watch is the amazing lack of education on the part of conservatives when it comes to Tesla and its mission, both with cars, energy, robotics, and AI. There are massive benefits to society being pursued by Tesla, but conservatives as a species only seem to see Tesla as another creation of the left. They are not. If you spend an hour doing serious research on the company, you'll discover how ignorant you look trotting out false and misleading information.
      I'm trying not to be political or unkind, but it's extremely frustrating watching ignorance prance around pretending to be a source of truth. And I say that not just about this poster, but about many in the conservative movement who have NO clue what Tesla is or does, and they only want to parrot what they hear from uninformed people within their circle. In 30 years, you're going to look like fools with your petty criticisms of Tesla.

    You are now officially "The Village People."
    Did you size and buy a generator for when the power goes out after hurricanes? Bring trunks of money for home-owner's insurance? Anyway, I have a list of items you will need after the hurricanes. I don't need them anymore because I left Florida. The view from where I am now makes me question why I ever lived in Florida in the first place. Here's some names: Andrew, Irene (two of her), Charley, Jeanne, Wilma, Irma, Florence, Ian, Michael. Don't worry about the ones that missed like Dorian which clocked 185 MPH winds. You only have to tolerate being scared to death for, oh, 7 to 14 days as the situation develops, inches toward you, meanders, creeps. Anyway, enjoy the Villages. Watch out for the STD spike in the postmenopausal demographic.

    • @LifestyleinTheVillages
      @LifestyleinTheVillages  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're 100% correct if you want great weather and if great weather means warm beautiful sunny days in Florida then you do have to accept the downside of hurricanes. Yes we have a generator, Yes we have money put aside for insurance, and yes we understand the demographics of the area. That said, we are looking forward to every single minute of our time in the Villages! Thanks for watching our channel.
