Well. You can sit at home and make fun videos playing the drums. Or you can go out and create what is arguably the most successful metal band of all time. Lars work speaks for itself.
I understand why people feel the need to hate on Estepario, but the fact remains that he has unlocked a level of skill that musicians in general can only dream about. He is changing the perception of what can really be achieved on drums, which is something conventional musicians in the age of digital programming have sorely needed for decades.
I’ve love Metallica since 1986, and I also love this. Those of us who are drummers understand what drumming really is. It’s about expressing yourself and finding your own unique style, and applying that to everything you play. People can call him flashy, and over the top, but this is his style of drumming. If he played this exactly like Lars, then it wouldn’t be his own unique cover of the song. Also, people watch him expecting God level drumming. I’m glad he didn’t disappoint.
Agreed. I was around for the underground scene. I am 60! And yes, I love the innovation he added to this song and all songs who he does covers too. Too many people look for excuses to piss and moan and get their panties in a wad.. If it was not so funny it would be pathetic.. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

The man is a phenomenal drummer. But if you overplay the song or any song, it just doesn't sound like the original and that can become a problem where it is not needed. Sometime less is more.
What kills me about this is his kicks are so INSANELY fast and CRISP! Like yeah he's adding hits and going just as fast but he's still hitting those time signatures right on. Lars, as much as I love him, speeds up live and it ends up mushy. This was just CRISP the entire time. Amazing.

Anyone remember when the late great Joey Jordison of Slipknot filled in for Lars on the drums in 2004, immediately after Joey just finished an intense, grueling hour and a half plus set with Slipknot, and all the extra double bass he added to Creeping Death. Lol. That was badass! And James even gave Joey the permission to do so, and told Joey to have at it and and have fun with. As a huge Joey Jordison fan, as my avatar shows, I thought that was an awesome and memorable moment in Joey's career. It's such a sad shame that's he's gone...

Over the top in a good way. Each person adds their own style. They say study the classics. I always wondered what he would do with “take 5” (Dave Brubeck). The drums are very much part of that song and moves it along. There’s a definite groove that needs to be maintained. What would quads sound like 😂😂
was thinking about the show I saw in 86 (cliff) when they did a one off i like Lars but something like this would have been mind blowing big Mick Hughes would have had fun with this guy
what do you mean old school Metallica fans won't like this? I considered myself a Metallica fan since way before they became mainstream on mtv with the black album. I bought every little piece of them up to Load, records, videos, postcards, patches, cds, etc. A friend played Master of Puppets to me and as soon as I left his house I went to buy Kill'em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets before I even heard the entire albums. At this point I only knew the song Master of Puppets. I never bought anything after Load and I don't consider myself a fan anymore but I still love the first four albums and I love this version.
I believe Lars always created music with the mindset he plays live hundreds of times a year touring globally. You can’t double or triple when he’s playing 4 capital cities a week for 40 years. He knew. That’s why he rocks. And still going.
I once saw a relatively recent video of Metallica playing live and one of the comments regarding Lars read: " it's like watching someone unlearn how to play the drums". Hilarious and accurate. I'm just an old dude who loves his pre-black album Metallica.
Yeah, try to keep that shit up for 2 hrs. Both are great but the OG version would sound cleaner is a concert environment as it doesn’t overwhelm the guitars.
Old school Metallica fan here.. bought and justice for all when it was released, still love only early Metallica.. This is FN AWESOME and fits the direction of the song.
If all the haters of the way he plays were all 6'8 and could dunk from the free throw every time down the court just cause you could when an easy lay up gives you the same points yall know you all would. He is a drummer, he is a showman, he wants clicks, get over yourself if your a purist and cant stand hes better than you. just enjoy it for what it is, no one forced you to watch.
Isnt art made to inspire and grow creativity? I guess its about who makes the most or does it the best? All El is doing is playing the version he hears in his head and thats amazing.
i loved it im subscribing i like watching Jorge Garrido or as yall know him El Estepario Siberano im a musician i play mostly guitar but i play drums and bass to if im needed but this guy makes me want to stick to guitar lol
I have watched Deep Purple have breaks on set, to recover, and I loved it. I have watched Axl Rose live, fighting his aged voice and I loved it. I haven't seen Metallica live since And Justice for All in 1988 (I loved it) and I am looking forward to see Metallica live in 2024 at Tons of Rock. No drummer can replace Lars in Metallica. He IS Metallica and we love him.

TRUE 100%. All the drum play at the time this album was released, was unlike other metal bands, and the rest is history is absolutely legit.

Over the top in a good way. Each person adds their own style. They say study the classics. I always wondered what he would do with “take 5” (Dave Brubeck). The drums are very much part of that song and moves it along. There’s a definite groove that needs to be maintained. What would quads sound like 😂😂
I am an PRE Black album Metallica fan. I can respect this because he is such an great drummer. I love this but also the original.
was thinking about the show I saw in 86 (cliff) when they did a one off i like Lars but something like this would have been mind blowing big Mick Hughes would have had fun with this guy
what do you mean old school Metallica fans won't like this?
His mechanics are insane, I love the more in the beats. I am hard of hearing for vocals. I love the hardcore sound. I feel the music, much more!
RC
I absolutely love this version of battery.
I once saw a relatively recent video of Metallica playing live and one of the comments regarding Lars read: " it's like watching someone unlearn how to play the drums". Hilarious and accurate. I'm just an old dude who loves his pre-black album Metallica.
He is stayble relax and calm than other drummer
Perversely Glorious. My new favorite term.
I am just glad he didnt do it one handed. Classy bad ass as always.
This was the first album I heard and owned. Love the original, but love this more
I'm a pre-black album fan and I like this. I like his fills but sometimes it's a little too much IMO..but what the hell do I know, I couldn't carry a tune if it was in a bucket 😂
Trooper version is great 👍👍 double bass and cymbal fills are epic
Lmao , he’s amazing. Saw him playing polyrhythms, he’s at another level.
