I completely agree, this is the best cover that demonstrates his musicality, the groovefather. He has a lot of passion in his other covers but this one is soooo emotive. Always look forward to your input on his covers! 🤘
A few weeks ago you asked us "do any of you listen to his songs over the originals?"..this is one of the songs i listen to. Mind you tool is one of my favorite bands (saw them on the side stage at lolapalooza in 94..maybe it was 93, and was hooked) and this, one of my favorite song's. Maybe it's because ive heard the original so many times, i switched to EESs version. Idk.
First of all, the way I look at it, is that you go to a reaction video to hear YOUR reaction and comments. If someone wants to listen to the song straight through then the video is out there. So stop and comment to your heart's content. Just my opinion. I've never heard this song but his drumming was amazing as usual. Last point. Lots of folks want him to join a band and he has in the past, but why? He has an immense, worldwide audience and the freedom to pursue his creative urges as his own boss in his own home. In a full time band, he'd have to do exhausting tours and be constrained to holding down the beat and regurgitating the same content night after night..
I just want to say I love how you break down videos and explain everything that's happening I don't care what everybody else says in your reactions are priceless😂😂
I appreciate how seriously he seems to be taking this particular cover. I don't mind the 'over-playing' the way some do. He's not playing in the band, he's trying to demonstrate his abilities, and that's a different task. Of course that's still there in this cover, but it still seems more respectful to me for some reason.
This is why I loooooove your reactions more than any other.... you soooo get it... he is a great musician... you gotta feel it or you might as well be a CD. Oh and on his 3M tribute I am sure that he included Neil Peart in his going forward want to cover.
I wish you had made comments as he played. It isn't as if we haven't all heard this 15 times before on our own. We are looking for your take on what makes each section special. Love the content!
OldSkulNerd Love the video. What I do want to comment on is if people don't like you stopping the video they're welcome to watch it on TH-cam without you in it and then come back and watch your reaction video. I like when you stop it because I like your comments cuz I'm not a drummer but I'm really fascinated in learning by it. I've learned so much from following EES and all the people doing reactions. Keep the comments up I love it.
I think one simple little thing he did that makes this cover sound so good was to turn down the volume a tiny bit. Compared to some of his other videos where his kit sounds louder to me. And maybe its just due to his old studio setup compared to his new studio setup. But to me, having a few less decibels coming from his kit allowed all his extra notes and awesomeness to not take anything away from the rest of the song.
I know this might be a long shot. But his cover to Eminem Godzilla. Wow. Otherly worldly. His Foot work in it are amazing just everything. An he uses 3 different snares in it. Check it out. You will be amazed.
Mate, if i want to see the entire thing, uninterrupted, I'll watch the actual video. I love when you comment, especially when you point out things that i havent seen!
Have you watched his version of Battery? Its quite old, but the pre-solo fill just blows my mind. I watched it over and over again, and i simply don't understand what kind of pattern it is. Triplets, Quintuplets or whatever? It sounds similar to his fills in his cover of through the fire and flames. Can you tell me what it is? ^^
Imagine if he had 12 toms like Danny Carey haha! If I were a professional drummer, I would probably be afraid to see him cover me....This video was more paying homage to Danny, but a lot of the videos he does make the original drummer look silly....but not as an insult to that drummer, more as a testament to the amount of work he put into mastering his craft and showing his audience what can be done on drums.
A Neil Peart cover needs more drums for sonic variety, a gentle touch to expand the dynamic range, and true insight into the creative flow of the score.
Jorge Garrido (El Estepario Siberiano's real name) is definitely a BADAZZ. Before he went YT viral he was in a metal band from Spain called SARATOGA and his "stage name" then was Siberian Steppe. Check out that info online to learn more about "EL ESTEPARIO SIBERIANO"
First off - love your take and your videos. Also love El’s videos and always hugely impressed with his ability. This is a fantastic cover for sure. However, Tool is my absolute favorite band and I’ve listened to their catalog an embarrassingly large number of times. Of any band I know, Tool creates their songs to not only stand as instrumentals, but also in complete synergy with the other instruments. Could Danny push to have his talent overshadow the others? Yes, just as much as Adam and Justin could. This isn’t a band that does a lot of self-congratulatory solos (a La Dream Theater), but rather each takes a step and really works together. This is where I think this cover misses the mark a little bit…But that’s just me. I would love to see El do Rush, or even Dream Theater - Rush to show reverence to Neil, and DT to put them to shame 😂
Have ya seen his new cover of everybody dance now? He did it about 2 months ago. I remember your reaction to the cowbell triplet. Want to see your reaction to his new cow bell trick. Lol
@@OldSkuleNerdgood afternoon and thank you very much for your work. I follow you and it is continuous learning. But I think we are before a drummer who was not seen, I would ask you to see the work of the drummer in the Godzilla song, thank you and sorry for the tirade. Thank you
So in his last video post on future work he actually mentioned the word Rush He also mentioned reasons why he doesn't do certain covers I feel like something is coming our way soon
Hi. When el Estepario Siberiano shows his thumb on the small screen, it means that a few days before he hurt his thumb. I don't remember if it was a blister, or a cut. I think he had to record part of the song on that electronic drum kit. If you look closely, there are blood stains on the box. It's because of that injury that occurred, I think during the recording of that cover. Best regards.
Hi @OldSkuleNerd I would like to recommend the Norwegian progressive metal band Leprous. Start by listening to the song Castaway Angels, which is unbelievable.
Whenever he does his blast beats/fast fills, he often seems to lose the pulse of the groove. They are impressively fast and it’s what gets him the most views arguably, but to me it just sounds like it could be better if he kept the groove going during them too
Indeed if the general public understood drumming, maybe we wouldn't default to speed for everything since it's the only thing that gets views. There is nuance in the ability to play slow and quietly as well.
This goes for almost everything.. society is hard wired to think being fast at something means it’s good / better. Couldn’t be further from the truth for most things. Edit - I should point out that this mainly applies to the west.
So I heard some talk out there the El Estapario is just a drummer. He can pick up the sticks listen to a song and play. I’ve heard that he doesn’t know how to write music read music or know anything about it which is why he may not be in a band, keep in mind I read this on the Internet so it’s totally 100% true Lol, would love to see this guy in a band. He is absolutely amazing.
this was awesome, but you should not just let the whole number play out. i love when you curate an experience for me , because i don't fully understand the intricacies and you make me understand. but in this video you just let it play. i really feel you are infringing on his IP. i dont feel this in tranformative (untill after the track).
Bro, on a reaction video you’re suppose to stop the fuckin video and like tell your REACTION 😂 If others want to see his content fair enough, go to his freaking channel 😆
@@OldSkuleNerd yeah, what you did before was the right way to do a reaction vid. Now you just showing his videos as they are on the original channel. That other British dude did an estepario reaction the other day, then stopped it and said: I think I just nutted myself 🤣🤣 that’s how to react bro 😂
Obviously he's an amazing drummer. But his drumming style doesn't fit Tool imo. Ok, I get that he's mainly showcasing his skills, but if this had been the drums on the original recording I wouldn't have liked Tool nearly as much as I have for 30 years.
yea, he is incredible, but theres just one thing that is missing - a good drummer is fast and precise and can fill pockets, a great drummer knows when to hold back. Kinda miss that in his videos, not really groovy for me.
I'm gonna be the unpopular voice in the chat: I'm not taking away from the guy's talent level, but Tool doesn't need machine gun fire over it. It's one thing to do a cover, it's another to simply see how many rapid fire fills you can put into a song. Doesn't work for me.
He's talented and I know he likes to show off his skills, but it's just too much. Danny Carey knows what he's doing and his drumming in the original is so understated yet perfect whilst showcasing incredible technique and skill. This is just too over the top, the drum part dominated the entire song, the fills are too long. Perfect example of a drummer overshadowing the band.
I completely agree, this is the best cover that demonstrates his musicality, the groovefather. He has a lot of passion in his other covers but this one is soooo emotive. Always look forward to your input on his covers! 🤘

A sensitive & strong performance from the best of the best , El Estepario Siberiano. A pleasure to listing to & a privilege to watch him . 🤘🏻
He is an absolute machine hands down.
That was amazing!!! Love seeing you enjoying it!!
What a great performance .. so talent, really! I love your reaction.

Actually I said it as a joke nobody will ever make me change how I do what I do
But STILL he is soooooooooo good, fast, out-of-his-head, EXTREMELY-GOOD but out of his heat in a very good way ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😅😅😅😅😅SO COOL

In stead of heat
He IS the Groovefather. The man's a beast. Great reaction. You have to get Tauri to do some.

Great review mate! You Rock👊🏻
He is on the groove. Most people can't comprehend it.
Very good choice!
It may have come out after this video but he has a short covering Rush - Tom Sawyer.
Do you know Thomas Lang? Looking out for Thomas Lang-Time, 6 Pedals and so much Symbols.

Thank you.

I’d love to see you do a react to Luca Striganoli. 🤘🤘🤘 he is to guitar what Estepario is to drums
He killed it nice job
Even Peart dreaded playing Tom Sawyer by Rush, and he wrote the damn song.

He’s not losing the groove, it’s syncopation, not done to much in rock.
You should put your own videos up showing how to play them properly!
He misses slot of shit or skips and fills with fast rolls
I want to see him cover a FFDP song…
Absolute great drummer but sometimes less is more
He is no doubt an amazingly skilled drummer. Sooooooo many unnecessary fills though....
They are super necessary.
A lot of the fills were kinda overblown
Free bird
I honestly love this guy, blows me away time and again, BUT, I like the drums on this tune the way they are on the album ala Danny
Exactly it wasn’t that great at all . Maybe to a novice.
My only pity of this is he chooses to nail The Pot before than Pneuma... (personal preference)
Siento que se pierde un poco en lo sincopado, pero suena bueno
Hes one of the best drummers I've ever seen, but ill take danny drumming tools music over ees...just sayin

Overplaying but incredible. Notice how he's using a single pedal just to show off more!
All other reaction videos fall short of yours.
Machine gunning fills to the point of distraction. He's outrunning the music and it doesn't fit.
Maneskin beggin by him
Not enough drums it sounds all,the same just fast..
