    RAM Quick Grip for me, it has provided me many years of use, it's very versatile and I feel like it vibrates less than the Quadlock for the simple fact that it has a larger mass, which can naturally dampen some vibrations.

    Quadlock requires the vibration dampener with newer phones. So it wont kill the camera stablization of the phone. It has kill samsung as well. Also you can get a universal quad mount adapter that can be fitted any phone or case

    I opted for a Quick Grip for a 9000km (6000mi) trip around India. Very happy. The backing protects the phone from dust damage and I can use my iPhone 8 Plus with my Spigen Armor case.

    Great video!
    I've been using the RAM X-grip for at least 10 years, replacing them periodically as they either broke from so much use or I needed another for additional bikes & cars. I've never had the rubber finger covers completely come off while riding, and I've never had the phone come off the mount while riding off-road except when I dropped the bike (usually low-side). I typically use a battery case on my phones, so they usually have a TPU exterior layer, which would make it difficult for the quad lock stick on to adhere.
    One of my buddies just switched to a quad lock with the vibration dampener because the x grip system seemed to be causing damage to the camera in his iPhone. He's trying out this new mount to see if it prevents damage.
    I've recently started using a RAM Quick Grip mount, which makes it pretty easy to take the phone on and off with one hand. It's secure and still accommodates the battery case on the phone.
    Now, if only fidlock would produce a phone mount that uses a combination of magnets and leverage, plus vibration dampener, that would be ideal.

      Thanks for sharing, this info helps riders make the right decision. In the 6 months or so that the Quad Lock dampener has been available, we've seen fewer comments about camera damage. Hopefully that resolved the situation. --- Yea, Quick Grip is so fast and easy.

    I have lost 2 cameras now the ram quick grip being hard mount to my upper accessory cross bar. It works excellent other than killing cameras. I killed my image stabilizer on my iPhone XS using a Quad lock on a short RAM arm. I didn’t have the special anti-vibe mount when it was damaged. Rode 20 odd hours on rocky terrain on a Husky 501 (died when mounted on the FE) and a KTM 690. I modified the Quad lock RAM ball so it can use it with the anti-vibe mount - just need to fix my phone now. Still sold on the Quad lock system-also have one in my van and have another that I can use on my bicycle too. If I had to guess I’d say single cylinder dirt bikes are going to be more prone to killing the cameras, compared to large adventure/touring bikes due to engine configuration, balance shafts, cush drives, rubber bar mounts etc.

    • @RIDEAdventures
      @RIDEAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good info, thanks for sharing. Yea, it (damage) appears to be happening on a whole variety of bikes/engines, singles or twins. I like a very sleek case or sometimes even no case at all. I hate the bulk of my Quad Lock case and only put it on the phone when I go riding. I was thinking about the RAM mount but it's way more bulky on the bike compared with the Quadlock. Pros and Cons to both I guess.

    • @dylanyoung6654
      @dylanyoung6654 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am in the same boat lmao. Those quad lock cases are bulky af and I prefer slim to no case as well, but the mount looks so slick on the bike. RAM just has this big ugly (in my opinion) phone mount but I can keep my slim case on. Debated on removing the Quad Lock case after every ride but not sure if its worth the hassle. Have you tried out the RAM case and also do you think the Quad Lock is worth it? They only offer the MAG case for my phone which is even bulkier than the standard cases they offer..

    I used to have a KLR with Kenda 270s, and it would rattle my fillings out. The camera on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 went a little wonky once with the RAM x grip. Since then, I've upgraded to an Africa Twin, with zero issues. I've gone all in on Quad Lock (wireless charger, anti vibration, etc), but I'd still be leery about an iPhone 11 or newer with either the RAM or Quad Lock. My only complaint with Quad Lock so far has been wireless charging is hit and miss with the case.

    I tested ram xgrip and stem mount on my GSXR. It does the job but ram xgrip is a poorly designed universal phone holder. It holds the phone in place but the stem mount is bad designed (you have to cut yourself the mounting insert to install it into the stem and it self destroys after the first turn of the nut...), does not lock in place and it touches the aluminum stem with the risk of scrathces. The x grip does its job but looks weak and woobly, the rubber holder looks like it is going to break only if you stare at it... I bought it and returned. Better consider other brands such as SP Connect or Quadlock.

    Just a quick info for people with new Iphones, dont use a Phone holder at the moment. As the new Iphones now have hardware based image stabilization, instead of software based, many riders are experiencing defects with the Iphone camera. It seems that the vibration is not good for image stabilization hardware.

    I just ordered a combination of the 2 makers. I ordered the Ram fork stem and base to fit on my 2021 Kawasaki zx10r. This works with the steering stabilizer on the motorcycle. I also got the ram small double 1" ball socket mount. Then I ordered the quadlock mount because I prefer the looks of the quadlock to the Ram phone holder.

      Wow, I've dropped my iPhone X pretty hard, at least once every month on cement or similar in the Quad Lock case, and have zero damage. Cracks shown in videos are the screen protector, not the screen. Quick Grip is great though : )

    So the RAM mount without any vibration dampener breaks your camera 100% of the time and it is flawless? 😂

    • @RIDEAdventures
      @RIDEAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Huh? No idea where you saw or read that or how you came to that percentage. The Iphone 11 was the first camera with issues I believe due to the mechanical stabilizers vs optical stabalizers in camera. So the dampener was released around the same time this video was filmed so the ability of the dampener was not a huge factor in this video. However, we will agree to one thing that nowadays both manufactures make dampeners and it should be standard for people riding with newer smart phones with more higher end camera systems.

    RAM grip is so hard gripping that the vibration caused camera damage in my Samsung phone. Will do a magnetic bag on tank with phone pocket in it. No phone belong on handle bars due to harsh potholes impact.

  • @aluisious

    A "phone holder" that requires you to use their case is a stupid design to me. 99% of the time I am just walking around with the phone in my pocket. I like the case I bought for it. I do not need a stupid shape on the back to lock my phone to my bike all that time. Also I have to clean my phone most days at work (clean room), and that shape looks hard to clean.
    The quick grip just works.
