You don’t have to do anything. Check whether you get any appointments before the intended travel dates. Usually you will get more dates available. Check regularly. If you don’t get it. It’s fine. During the visa appointment you can mention that.

However, I'm receiving conflicting information regarding traveling to the US. Some sources suggest that I should notify the US authorities before traveling through a travel authorization form, but I'm unsure where to find the necessary details to fill out such a form.@@BritIndians

If you have a valid visa you can travel anytime to the US.
You don’t need to fill in any travel authorisation form
Can one apply a month before travel time?
Sometimes the appointment may get delayed. So better to apply at least 2 or 3 months before
