    That 200gr +P Speer GD is the best of the GD offerings in .45ACP, no question. DocGKR doesn't agree, but from what I've seen; it works well!

      Might want to consider that as impressive as the gel looks, this 45 round would have failed the FBI test. Only 11.25” of penetration.

    Good to know my G33 is in good hands with the GDHP! MAN do those things leave a sexy stretch cavity 😅 However those Underwood Noslers are devastating! You should do a 124gr +p+ 9mm Underwood Nosler compared with something else if you haven't already! Those are what I carry in my G43x, G19, and my P365X Macro!
    Also* I love that your aim is spot on 99% of the time, and you always shoot into the block where you're aiming mitigating possible inadequate testing!

      Absolutely, I can do that. Next time I make a order I'll grab some for a test, should be fun. Thank you very much.. I always try the best I can when doing these tests. If I end up making a bad shot it screws up the whole thing, and its a ton of work to cast these 2 blocks I bring and a long 2 hour drive round trip to the range lol. Can't afford to miss lol. Can't go wrong with either. So carry both...lol. the expansion for the 45 gets the win. A bit more penetration might be "better" but this type of expansion can't be overlooked. The extra capacity on most 357 Sig offerings gives it the advantage in that category. Well done. Thank you.

    People who don’t know much about ballistics and see that larger 45 and think “I’ll take that beast”. Well…not so fast. That 357 sig is more powerful and would do more damage to meat.

    • @dolemite93

      Finally someone understand ballistic. 45acp no comparison to the sig. 45 slow and has no penetration.

  • @Mbartel500
    @Mbartel500 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    The .357 sig has a TKO of 8.38
    The .45 auto has a TKO of 12.7
    The Taylor Knock Out formula takes into account velocity, bullet weight, and unfired bullet diameter. Bullet diameter is a metric that should not be ignored when calculating projectile effectiveness. The standard muzzle energy formula puts too much emphasis on velocity. In that formula the velocity is squared. The momentum formula puts too much emphasis on bullet weight. The TKO formula gives equal importance to all three measurements…velocity, weight, and diameter. Of course even the TKO formula isn't perfect. It doesn't take into account bullet construction and design. Both of which are extremely important when talking about bullet effectiveness.

    • @nickadkins7765
      @nickadkins7765 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      That's all well and good....HOWEVER, the results don't lie and we have the results right infront of our faces in a video format. So to overlook that because of some TKO factor would just be kind of ignorant to be honest. 357 sig > .45. UNLESS you're in big game country. In that case I'd much rather have an FNX 45 Tactical or FN 545 with a heavyweight hard cast bullet. Ideally though a full size FN 510 or similar 10mm pistol with a heavyweight hard cast would be the best option for a handgun (power and capacity). A hot 44 mag or 41 mag would be better ofcourse, but you don't get the capacity. For that reason is why I'd run with a high capacity and heavy hard cast bullet in a 10mm or .45 semi auto pistol in that scenario. That's just me though!

    • @fanman8102
      @fanman8102 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I used the TKO to determine which calibers I would carry daily and so I chose 357Sig or 40S&W over the 45 because of magazine capacity compared to available pistol size at that time. I ran the numbers twice. First with just bullet caliber then again with the expanded hollow point. The TKO is good stuff, IMO.

    • @kennethferguson4283
      @kennethferguson4283 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      LOL One theory likes velocity, one likes weight, one likes diameter. My theory is I have never seen a shootout where the 357 Sig was used and the cop had to reload. I have seen lots of videos where .45s and 9mms were used and two or more magazines had to be used. Not to mention situations where multiple cops had to empty mags to stop a felon with 9mms and .45s. I have not seen nor heard of a 357 Sig ever needing more than 4 or 5 rounds from one deputy to end a fight! Jell tests are nice to show bullet expansion but the street tells the story.

      sure but it does very well compared to the weight and the speed. at 50 yards they two calibers are 400 ft pounds. if you look the sig losses energy faster than the 45. get the 185 grain bullet and its even closer to the sig with les recoil. 45 is still great and much cheaper to shoot. bigger bullet more down range energy. as far as the hit harder thing, i dont buy into that, the wound channel is impressive from both but the 45 is better @@kevinrichardson8859

    My normal .357 Sig carry load is the Critical Duty. I was excited to finally get ahold of the Gold Dot in .357 Sig as I've been wanting it for a long time. However, in my G33, I found that the Gold Dot has a point of impact shift to the right compared to Critical Duty and my practice ammo. Disappointing, to be sure, but this is why you test out your carry ammo to ensure that it performs correctly

Imho 357S should only be run out of 4" or longer barrels (full size frames metal pref) since much of the powder is wasted on muzzle blast / flip in shorter barrels. Seems a good balance in 9mm using UW 90gr XD +p+ (480ft/lbs) with faster follow-ups and extra capacity. My 2nd choice is a 115gr loaded to 1400fps (UW, Buffalo Bore)
