    PLEASE READ: this company is not capable of honoring warranty, my mic died within 10 months of use, I have been in contact with AGM for 4 months now and it's the worst customer service of my life. They are constantly forgetting the issue, making promises they can't keep and ghosting me for weeks on end, they claim that they will send me the parts if I pay shipping and then I can find my own repair shop... While it's on warranty... I've had to replace this phone after 4 months of fighting with them and now I'm out $1100 waiting on their BS

    I heard you mentioned not having reception. Most people might know this, but when you don't have reception or weak reception your phone uses a lot of battery. Use airplane mode if you are in an area with bad cell service. That saves a lot of battery.

    In this country we have great Ordnance Survey maps for the whole of the U.K., we should never rely solely on a mobile phone or GPS as the battery can crap out at any time. A paper map should always be carried as a backup.
    You can buy a thermal imaging camera for £150, but FLIR is the best and a bit more expensive.

    I was kind of skeptical when I saw this was about an infrared phone camera, but now I can see how it would be useful. I'll be interested to see some SurvivalRussia myth busting about "heat reflectors" and all this stuff you see people on TH-cam build.

      @@paddor yeah, if it's supposed to be a wind break that's fine. However, I've seen people on TH-cam build them and state that it's reflecting heat from the fire back at them.

    The reason why your regular phone won't find a satnav fix without a cell tower signal is that most if not all consumer grade phones rely on a-GPS or assisted GPS to get a reliable signal. The phone will predetermine its approxiamte position on the globe by the cell tower IDs and then afterwards fine tune with the GPS satellite signal. When the approx. position is not known it can take a very long time to get a sattelite fix if it manages to do it at all.

    • @ItsTristan1st
      @ItsTristan1st 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely.
      Technically it is referred to as building the almanac, which is a database of satellite orbits and positions. Typically this can take about 20 minutes provided there is at least some access to sky.

I just never liked the idea of carrying a phone around so I have never got one of those mobile phones ( I can see how it would be a very useful tool for you though out there at the edge of the wilderness)... That one does has some cool toys.. amazing what was meant to be just a phone in the beginning. Is now a multitool of electronics that most folk can't live with out.. In such a short time we have become addicted to technology.. Like I said amazing.. Thanks for the heads up Lars.. it will be interesting to see what that phone can actually do in an area that it is needed in.. Carry on! see ya Slava.. and Mrs S.R.

    What an awesome phone. The infrared is awesome. You can use that to find leaks in your house or areas that need attention in tents etc. That is an awesome phone. Be sure and check into downloading your maps in case you don't have a signal. NOTE: Be sure to NEVER charge lithium batteries 32F or below. It will permanently damage them. You can use it below freezing but you should not charge at 32F or below.

    I just ordered the glory Pro without this thermal imaging, because I have no need for that and the expense is too much I was in the market for a new rugged phone because I spend a lot of time in the woods and amongst the rocks the experience with Aliexpress is abysmal trying to pay with a credit card that I buy stuff from Eastern Europe all the time they wanted copies of my bank statements prove the credit card is mine which is entirely illegal in the United States. I refuse to do so but provided other information and if that wasn't acceptable to them we would not be able to do business so you may run into this problem if you live in the United States it's damn near a deal-breaker

    I would love this phone but what’s up with the price? It’s showing $3,000 CAD For the top model lol

    Ok, so when in the vicinity of my ex girlfriend I have close to 60min to call for rescue 🤣
    It won't pick her up on thermals though, she's cold as ice.
