In addition to the three item to do list, I also sometimes like to keep a DONE list. After I’ve completed a task, no matter how small, I will write it on the list and immediately check it off. The DONE list isn’t always a necessity, but on tough days, those little victories can be very reassuring.

Yes. I have 3 goals each day! So satisfying & I am determined to get those 3 things done! Today 1. Folded clothes , put them away, 2. Fixed my husband a very nice supper, 3. Completely finished tilling my vegetable garden! And it is huge! This works for me, the 3 item list! Excellent!

I live alone and have to have a reminder system in place. So I keep a notebook at hand with all my ideas and a running to do list etc. Even things like shampoo, feed the cats or call a friend!
But I have the 3 important tasks for the day at the top of the sheet and I do those first. Those are my urgent items! The others I can pick or chose when and how much I do on them. There what I think of as my "piddling list". No pressure about them, just whenever I feel the urge. It works because I am kinder to myself rather than trying to crack the whip and demand I complete a page long list of tasks daily! Also, sometimes I challenge myself to complete as many tasks as possible in an hour. I can keep up my focus that long and it's amazing how much one can do when motivated!

This has been one of the most useful suggestions to get things done and feel like progress has been made By focusing all the energy on just 3 items they get done and I can relax!

I've just this week started doing what I call my "easy list"... even if some of the things on the list will be hard, not easy. I know they are:
    1) Doable, and 2) Important or essential. Short enough list that I can't get lost in it, so I'm not avoiding the hard things. This is my current personal approach to killing procrastination. Thanks for sharing the 3 item list idea!

    • @bethjoy7675
      @bethjoy7675 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If an item is super intimidating, I might detail sub categories of steps needed, but I make sure each item is for sure a reachable goal for today, barring any surprises beyond our control. Differs from my also newly developed Daily Habits list.

Thanks. I usually pick 3 to 5 things for a list per day. When I get them finished, I go to my optional list. I always feel like I've accomplished something. Makes the next day easier, too!

I love this, I just started doing this last week. Im getting more done by focusing on just 3 things. Before doing this, I was not getting much done because I felt overwhelmed by all that needed to be done.

You might have solved a bad habit of mine. I am a rabid list maker….long lists. But problem is, i will always choose the easy, obvious things like “do laundry, cook dinner, pay bills”. Things i had to do regardless -list or no list.
Hopefully this will jumpstart my efforts to write a resume that will land me a job with health insurance. I have been out of the job market for over 20 years and my skills in everything are lacking.
    Thanks for the tip!

This sounds like the 'frog task' idea Minimalist Mum described a year ago i think.
I strated doing it and then i was pregnant with very low energy and some difficulties. The main thing was just surviving the day with my toddler in a loving respectful way. Just getting my prayers done and meeting the needs of my child.
Now its the final month I am using the list of 1 important task a day to get things prepared. That one task which mainly is decluttering minimising and setting up the environment bit by bit.

I once heard that you should write the one or two important things to accomplish that day in your calendar. If you don't do them then you'll have to keep rewriting it in your calendar till you do it, it actually does work because you feel silly having to rewrite it over and over again. Keeps you accountable to yourself!

I get more things done if I make a list. I know the things I need to do but just seeing them on the paper helps me get them done. I usually wait til I have a bunch before I do any of them and then some don't get done. But I like the idea of just 3 at a time. Definitely going to try that!

I already do this. It’s made me more relaxed and in overall better mood. I wanted to share I went to the movies with my daughter and her aid.As I watched them pay $ for 2 specialty drinks at Starbucks along the way.& then at movies on popcorn and sodas, tickets. I had pd for pizza for dinner. I realized we were just mindlessly spending $$ like we have it. I thought of u Josh and ur tips on how to cut back spending. I treated for dinner which I had $ for.The girls could have skipped Starbucks and concession stand. I don’t get Starbucks & I bring my own drink for movies and sometimes a snack. I know I taught my daughter to be more frugal.with going out and thrift stores and etc. It’s like they just mindlessly spend money without thinking about it. I know they are young. I really want them to get this. I’m not asking my daughter to become a minimalist like myself. I just want her to handle $ better.Anyone have suggestions please. My daughter 25 years old adult. She wants no parts of minimalist life style. As her mom I feel compelled to tell her that she needs to handle $ better and that she will be glad to figure this out. She lives with her father

Is there a good book on frugal living you can buy her for Christmas as a stocking filler? Not as a birthday gift - too obvious. Also, show, don't tell. Keep taking your own drinks and food when you go out and she may eventually get the message. I too take my own items to the cinema. Failing that, just let her get on with it, it will make you feel a lot better.
