    Love V8 Supercar. You have done a superb Job with your Setup. I am in the process of building my own rig using 80/20 extrusion as well. My setup will mostly be geared toward a formula 1 cockpit but I hope to add an option to accommodate a Super V8 position as well. You have inspired me. I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors. See you on the track. Call sign (CHUCKWAGON)

    Amazing setup. Very good video quality also, really nice camera views and editing. You've gotten a lot of views, you should really start recording and posting race videos with the over the shoulder view you had at 40 secs in or even the head mounted view you had starting at 2:20 min in. I think your channel would do really well with V8SC race videos like that. I'm going to give you a sub just in case you do start posting more videos.

    Great looking Rig! I have similar components (monitor, Video card, etc.) but, looking to build an 80/20 rig. Can you provide dimensions and part list?

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +nerves If you are using extruded aluminium, best method is to build the rig around your body shape and preference. You also have the ability to work in some adjustability to the design, as you progress you will find things need tweaking. The rig I built is a fair bit larger in size than your out of the box style rig, as I am a taller guy, shorter people are not really well suited, hence why it is not a good move to base your design off other measurements - everyone is different.
      Heres some more detailed images if that helps.

    Hello , First off very nice Video !! i hoping you could help me with a question , I have a Human racing chassis , do you think it could support a Fanatec Direct drive on its own ?
    Such as the Podium DD1 or DD2 ? I could really use you feedback thank you sir , nice rig

    Only thing i noticed was the pedals. They looked a little flimsy??? When you brake the pedel plate??

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that has been rectified, Simworx have a stronger pedal arm and plate which I now have fitted and solves the flex.

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +carmel allfrey The best method is to use your own body as a guide for the measurements. I am quite tall and just about all other rigs I have tried are designed for someone smaller than me. I set out to build a rig that suited myself perfectly, and the only way to do that is to start from the bottom and build up, if using extruded aluminium always give yourself some room for adjustability, you will notice that with my rig nearly all the ergonomic aspects have the ability to adjust in either direction, work on one component at a time and set it in the right position based on your own measurements, once it is all in place, you can make some minor changes to perfection.

      +Kristian Ristell haha I figured that would be the answer! was just hoping for rough so I could get some bulk lengths. did you use 40*80? or can you get away with 30*60?

    What affect on the car does it have when you press on both the gas and the brake at the same time ?
    I noticed you doing it and thought it must make the car behave in a certain way ???

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Left foot braking and some trail-braking to balance the car, often used to gain some extra mid corner rotation. Its a old technique I used in rallying. Not for everyone, but if done right it can help. I usually only use it in the transitional stages between braking and accelerating to blend the power delivery.

    How do u mount the rear speakers on top of the profiles? By drilling? As i too have the same audio speakers

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the speaker case, and bolted directly to the extrusion.

    • @TripleTarmacTeam
      @TripleTarmacTeam 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oic.. thats what i thought also coz im gonna be doing the same thing as my extrusion just came.. but how do u take off the speaker stand

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      From memory you unscrew the casing, then remove the stand screw from the inside. I recall it had some glue to stop it from coming loose which you will need to contend with.

    • @TripleTarmacTeam
      @TripleTarmacTeam 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup it has this glue which i have yet to decide how to get rid off

    do you mind sharing your plans for the rig? as im from sydney and Id love to build my rig of similar style to yours, also where did you order your profile/bolts/brackets from?

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't make plans during the build, it was built around my size and ergonomic preferences. There is a full parts list in the video description, as well as many other discussions on the build here in the comments.

    • @IamMotionMedia
      @IamMotionMedia 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i was mainly referring to the 80/20 profile plans (i.e lengths, widths,height, number of profiles etc)

    • @kristianristell6377
      @kristianristell6377 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The genuine item is only available direct from MS Precision in Sydney, but they are super expensive. I was lucky enough to pick one up from private seller without the strain gauge which cost a lot less.

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Parker Chase Its actually the HumanRacing keyboard mount, but could easily be made from a 4-5mm plate of aluminium from any aluminium supply store such as Action Aluminium or Capral.

    Hi,
    Is it 40-I or 45-B Type? What's the length of the rig, and the height of the wheel support, please?
    I'll try to do mine as soon as possible ;-)

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Project CARS - Unofficial The frame is made from "Item" Profile 8, 40x40, and 40x80. The total length is 1600mm, and the wheel deck height is 700mm, however I do stress that the wheel height is relative to my seating height and wheel angle, which may differ to yours.

    • @ProjectCARSUnofficial
      @ProjectCARSUnofficial 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kristian Ristell I took your seat support height into account and your real values match my theoretical values.
      Do you think mechanical strength is sufficient to support actuators constraint (DBOX for example), or would it be a good thing to take the 45x45; 45x90 profiles?
      Thanks a lot,
      Regards,
      -Sagedavid (from France)

    • @ProjectCARSUnofficial

      +Kristian Ristell Oups... and what's the width, please?

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Project CARS - Unofficial Yes, the 40 / 80mm is very strong and rigid, the overall strength of the frame will be dependant on your layout design and joining method. The rigidity of the beams themselves will not be your limiting factor. You can always add further gusseting later if required.

    • @kristianristell2484
      @kristianristell2484  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @kristianristell6377
      @kristianristell6377 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is very firm in the shift. I tried a few before purchasing and this one was the heaviest at the time. I use a shorter shift arm which makes it heavier again than what it was originally designed.

    Where did you purchase the MS precision shift knob?

    • @kristianristell6377
      @kristianristell6377 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The company that makes them is called Motorsport Systems in Sydney, they are a load cell transducer therefore very expensive for a shift knob. I was lucky enough to buy this one privately through a forum minus the transducer.
