  • This is a must have DIY mod for your sim racing pedals and simulator rig. Add simulator Rumble Feedback to the Logitech pedals or any other pedal set.
    Add to the immersive experience with this mod ! Highly recommended!
    You can adjust and mix feedback for :
    - Left and Right Vibration
    - Wheel slide
    - Speed
    - RPM
    - Acceleration slide
    - Wheel Lock
    - Gear Change
    - Idle vibration
    Items used:
    Arduino UNO BG bit.ly/3JpJmFj
    Motor shield V2 ebay.to/2DTtEmd
    USB Cable
    Rumble motors eBay ebay.us/rpHLUV
    25mm clamps eBay ebay.us/hust2D

    12V power supply ebay.us/OpXvXv

    My settings
    I have mixed in some left and right vibration into the pedals.
    Wheel lock for the brake pedal, acceleration and wheel slide in the throttle pedal.
    Expandable to 12 Motors
    Each motor shield can support 4 motors and these are stackable.
    The video shows how to add 2 motors to give the basics.
    Additional force feed back motors can be added on your rig or seat.
    Supported Games
    Assetto Corsa
    Project Cars
    Codemasters games
    Dirt Rally
    Iracing
    Automobilista/ RF1
    RF2
    Raceroom
    ETS2 ATS
    SIMBIN
    LFS/RBR
    Tested and gameplay in Assetto Corsa
    Note: The 12V power supply is adjusted in the sketch to output 5V. It is possible to run more voltage through your motors but this may shorten their life. I have shown the "safe" base setting.
    It is recommended to wire power directly to the motor shield as shown in the video.
    Thank you for watching, all questions and feedback are welcome.
    If you know someone who might be interested in this project please share the video with them.

    Completed this last weekend. Feedback when your wheels slide on the corresponding pedal is very informative. Makes it easy to feather the gas right on the line of traction and burning out.
    Tip: put the lighter weighted motor on the accelerator for quicker response. My brake has 4 weights and the gas has 2 weights (I have the same kind of stacked weights on my motors and removed some to make it just 2 weights. I didnt like the feel of the heavy vibe on the gas pedal). I also set the max motor output to 200.
    THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL!!

      What is the advantage? pedals in racecars dont shake? isnt it supposed to be realistic

    • @TrevorJones1
      @TrevorJones1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +64

      @@Impetuss they dont shake...but you can feel the rev of the engine through your feet. You can feel the throttle to the engine. In simtools you can set the telemetry to have it kind of kick when you change gears and kind of low rumble when you are braking so Its also an indicator of tire grip , think about it your braking and your tires lose grip and suddenly that slight rumble goes smooth. It's not really just about realism it's about feedback.

Now from that just wire 2 cables that will make the switch be pressed. Now just set it up in game and your done. I will try this but as of now my g920 is broken and im sending it back

    Very nice! I was just musing about pedal FFB with a friend the other day. The G25 pedal connector has two unused pins, it would make a super neat installation to include the microcontroller into the pedal base, upgrading the cable to include the two pins as USB lines and just having to use an extra power supply cable. And since no G25 today will have any warranty whatsoever anyway...

    • @bad1971nova
      @bad1971nova 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd be willing to bet it is a lot better. Like a more precise rumble compared to just shaking everything. Plus where would you mount a bass shaker to pedals?

    • @tuomasantero
      @tuomasantero 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a plywood board under my pedal set and bass shaker attached to it. And I wouldn't agree that bass shaker is "just shaking everything". At least not with Simvibe. There's some finesse in it's vibration and you can create your own effects profile from scratch. But you can't separate the pedals. At least not yet. That's why I'm interested in this solution. SpeedFreak have you tried bass shakers or this rumble motor thingy? I looooove Simvibe's engine vibration effect on the pedals. Only thing missing really is the braking vibration.

    This is a great application to receive alot of tactile DETAIL return on monetary investment albeit with a larger labor and knowledge base requirement for bringing the system together... I'd have to say that, due to time constraints, I'll stick w/ the overall performance level range of tactile feel from some bass shakers / tactile transducers mounted to the seat, wheel and pedal assemblies driven from a steeply cross-overed / filtered low-frequency signal to a subwoofer amp for the amount of time and labor required to mount some kind of tactile feedback not to mention a single amp used to give all sensations with enough power to blur my vision through my seat back.
    Great all around how-to vid nonetheless! Keeping track of this build application for potential in a suitable future application!

    • @That_Handle
      @That_Handle 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tip on tactile transducer mount near / to wheel assembly : damage / wear can occur to wheel housing, internals especially if turned up high and shakes the thing to bits.
      Hands, joints also get sore when holding on to the vibrations... still need to assess wheel tactile feedback...

      I saved a bit of money, 3D printing the pipe clamps. I'll also do the Arduino case too. I also printed washers, just for the hell of it! Great video btw 😊

    Hello! Does this works only with the Motor shield V2? This is very hard to find here in Brazil! And thanks for your inspiring videos!

    something like that but a much stronger version (not audio related buttshakers) would be nice !
    maybe with brushless motors from RC racing cars?

    Definitely DOES work with iRacing! I just got it to work. Feels better than before. More immersion. Every project amstudio throws up on the channel is straight brilliant.

    I really love your guides keep them coming! :-)However, I have one question - you configured right and left vibration in shake it. But on which pedal did you mount them? Is it so simple that there is left vibration on the brake pedal and right vibration on the gas pedal ?!

    • @amstudioprojects
      @amstudioprojects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had mixed in left vibration to the brake pedal and brake lock up. On the right pedal, right vibrations and wheel slip/acceleration. Of course you can add more motors and mix the settings as you like. One motor shield can control 4 motors.

      Thank you for the clarification - that was logical! When I bought my engine shield, I "managed" to buy Vellemans vma03 which only has two engine connections. So I run this with a modified program based on Shake It's ... and just two engines. :-)

    Hey! Noob question here.
    If I may ask, why use the ext pwr of the shield and not the arduino output? Does it have to do with power limitations? (since the motors are working fine while using arduino dc)

    I hope you still respond to comments on old videos, I am looking into doing this mod myself. My question is since its stackable and uses shakeit. will it interfere with my shake kit transducers from srs? Im already running a bunch of srs but i like this version for the pedals rather than their pad design. not sure what they were thinking with that. But i want to make sure that im not going to cause conflicts with their software when i start adding my own that i downloaded from Arduino

    Hi there, if i have a 12v rated large rumble motor. Would the motor shield be needed for this project? thanks for making this guide! Where in the sketch can I change it back to 5v?

    Sweet, I will have to do this mod when I get a gaming computer. I was wondering I have a tactile transducer bolted to the bottom of the pedal deck which gives me feedback from the bumps and braking, would this mod do the same but more specific to each pedal? Thanks again and keep up the great work.

    • @amstudioprojects
      @amstudioprojects  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dennis, it provides very nice defined feedback rumble for the pedals. The motors response can also be fine tuned via the mixer to dial in your perfect setup.

    Can I use the 24V 2A DC power supply instead of 12V? I build custom pedals set and I have 24V 2A DC power supply to power the load cell amplifiers and I'd like to avoid using 2 separate power supplies. 2 separate USB cables are acceptable.
    BTW: I love your channel! I found it by accident, but I fallen in love with it. Parts for button box and rumble kit are already ordered, handbrake and dashboard are the next step.
    Cheers.

    Just an update. I built this mod following this great video, mainly for ETS2 and ATS. I'm using the Shakeit software and not Simhub atm. And I can confirm it works great with the trucking sims! I'm still playing with the settings, but for now I have set Motor 1 on my Accelerator to RPM, and motor 2 on my brake to speed. This seems to give you a good feel to the pedals. But if anyone has good Shakeit settings for these sims then please share :)

    Is it possible to put a rumble on a shifter without getting in the way?
