  • This video explains a method for cleaning dirty bow hair.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for damage to your bow using this cleaning method. I generally use inexpensive fiberglass bows.
Unfortunately when the bow hair is done on these bows, they get discarded (actually they are recycled into bow hold trainers!) and I purchase new bows. Re-hairing these bows is not cost effective.

Although I know denatured alcohol is the best thing to use, however I've used rubbing alcohol many times in a pinch and it's always worked very well especially on synthetic bow hair. I like the fiberglass bows since they are well balanced and inexpensive, perfect for any school applications. I've been a string instructor for 42 years and I like how your video is concise and very informative. You're a great teacher sir your students are lucky to have you.
