It’s definitely an unpopular Opinion but I sometimes perfer watch dogs 1 and two to the gta franchise. The parkour, hacking. Even the driving. GTA 5 has a better and more in depth open world, better engine, story, dialogue etc. It’s obviously superior, but free running with earphones in as Marcus through San Fransisco is such a vibe. Even if the story is pretty crap. The first game which has the better story arguably is more like gta 4, the moody and cold/unforgiving atmosphere is a refreshing and sometimes more appealing thing.
Watch Dogs and GTA 4 have surprisingly similar atmospheres. To me, Watch Dogs has better characters and a better story, and felt the most like a movie, where as GTA 4 had a slow start where it feels like Niko is just wandering around aimlessly doing favors for money. GTA 4 wins overall, but Watch Dogs comes surprisingly close for an Ubisoft game.
