This is another reason to never stay at an Airbnb, along side the other reason that they increase property sales and jack up rent. More communities need to ban Airbnb rentals.
Amen!
You could have stay at a hotel and still get charged for the same crap, so it doesn't matter where you choose to stay. Take a video or pictures after closing and locking up the door before you vacate the airbnb.
@chantaanderson5165 Ive stayed at hundreds of hotels. Never once had anything like this happen. One Air BnB and the owner tried to charge me for damage to the garage. Which I never used once. I did take pictures of when we arrived and after and they still attempted to extort me for money. So no, owners of air bnbs, most of them are psycho lunatics. Ill take my chances with hotels.
At this point, anyone that rents with Airbnb is extremely foolish. These are a scam now.
And according to some users, the prices are comparable to a hotel. I'll take not being responsible for major cleaning over general cleaning any day with my money.
The fact they don't name the individual or the home in question, the whole video is worthless. The company has always been worthless and there purely to just take your money. They profit off the public's homes and work. At this point it's dominated by so many company owned homes. Big business shaking hands taking our money without any real public investment, AirBNB.
You know the town, you know what the house looks like and what the house is priced at , its pretty easy to find it
Exactly
And this is why I always take a long video of every room just before we leave an Airbnb or a Verbo.
Take a video when arriving. Take a video when leaving.
And have something with the date on it visible, newspaper or the like
Yup!!!
@@ross3933💯
Before AND after video. this is the world we live in.
No way. I'm not renting a house anymore, bye bye Airbnb
Sue the host for slander.
WHERE'S YOUR PROOF. HE COULD DO THE SAME!
With what proof? She needs to have proof she didn't do the damages, which she doesn't.
The host has to bear the burden of proof of her guilt. If he does not have that proof, in the eyes of the law, she is not guilty, and the slanderous comments should be removed. If at that point he does not remove them, she have every right to sue him as an innocent victim. Cause again, how do you prove innocence? @gotyoutriggered.8644
Like Denzel said in _Training Day:_
It’s not what you *_know…_* It’s what you can *_prove_*
She can't. Airbnb won't allow it... It's in the contract you sign when you sign up.
Just stay at a Motel/Hotel
@@GrandMasterLynx That's what I always do .And I've traveled the world cheaply and comfortable and safe.
Yup….bypass this kinda bull crap…
Damn... I will NEVER rent an AirBnb ever again.
Airbnb’s are sketchy especially ones in certain states where you can get assaulted in your bnb and you can’t do anything about it
Why would you stay somewhere where the watch you on CAMERA THEY ALL HAVE HIDDEN CAMERAS 😢😢😢BEWARE
I bought a little device that you turn on an attached blacklight and look through a lens and it causes camera lenses to flare red. It also has a wifi and bluetooth detector wand so if something is transmitting wirelessly you can pinpoint the device. (You have to turn off nearby known electronics) I tested it on my own door cam, works great.
I used it in hotels, never found anything. Let a friend borrow it when she went travelling. She was in an Airbnb, found a camera in the bathroom hidden behind a vent in the ceiling. No thanks.
Take pictures/a video of the place when you arrive and before you leave an Airbnb.
A great call out, I do this.
Don’t use Airbnb. It’s way too unregulated, unlike hotels/motels.
He probably did the damage to the tub and took a picture as some kinda scam. That way he gets a free remodeling.
That can be repaired for 500$ they arent replacing the whole tub😂
@@HarryDirtay I agree 💯 percent
Airbnbs should be outlawed!!
How is airbnb still a thing? I've, not once, heard anything positive about them or any hosts
That is because good news doesn’t make the news.
I went to a B&B in Colorado on Mt. Evan for two weeks. It was the best trip I ever had. Better than when I went to Hawaii. Horrible island tourist trap. Great weather though.
I stayed at an Airbnb cabin on Upper Arrow lake in Bc just south of Revelstoke about a month ago. The owners were great, they set us up with everything they could for an amazing 2 week vacation.
Coward host won’t meet in person
What PROOF did the scamming host provide..... a picture AFTER the fact??
Why blur out the photo of the home and refuse to name the host/scammer? Let the world see his face. Interview him and see how he defends himself.
Stop using air bnb!!
Yup get a hotel like normal people and stop paying for someone else's shit.😊
I told my son not to rent an Airbnb and of course he did. They then received a bill of $3,000 for " damages ". I made sure that he took photographs before he left. The landlord thought it and lost and he now cannot rent his house on Airbnb so he went to erbo
Stupid bot
Worked for a real estate company In Knoxville managing their air bnbs. I was hired after they already had issues and had multiple bad reviews. After I left (a month later) they had to change their name because their listings was rated sooo badly. They basically re branded with a company that already had super host houses. Definitely would never recommend air bnb.
Get rid of AirBNBs! 😡 they’ve turned into freak party host spots in Houston! Just ridiculous!
Lol, comedown boomer
If she really caused all that damage then why would Airbnb close the case against her.
I'd take it to a lawyer against Airbnb and the homeowner, try to keep this from happening to other people. Airbnb implies he provided proof but anyone seeing a breakdown of the list and just that one picture... not likely something that was done during her stay and the "proof" she should be given as well. That homeowner not responding back shows the lack of professionalism in this entire process.
The Airbnb contract you sign when you join forbids it.... You MUST go through company mediation. You should read that crap.... The entire contact is insane.
@DrTHC there are always exceptions to those bs clauses. If it's possible, a good lawyer will figure it out. How do you think whistleblowers with NDAs are able to exist.
Yea definitely want to defer from Airbnb . So anyone can take a picture and just say you did it that’s stupid . I’m glad she fought it and that is definitely fraud !!!
1st mistake, going to Michigan.
😂😂😂
Why didn't they name the host?
doing so would be slander.
@@jimtrue1465No it’s called reporting. Slander would be if they took a side.
@@CN45475 And since the report IS only presenting one side, it would be slander.
@@jimtrue1465 No, it would not be. Hope this helps.
@@CN45475 Just so I can know how much credence I should give your pronouncement, where did you earn your law degree?
When you show up and before you leave take video and photos inside and outside of the home.
Another reason to avoid AirBnB
I’m shocked. Shocked that people are still leasing Air Bnbs.
I swear, you have to assume every single Airbnb host will scam you.
I noticed the host literally left screws on the stairs. The handrail was broken. The bathroom was gross. It was really bizarre.
I've stayed in an Airbnb a couple times, and I'd really just rather stay in a hotel
That’s why I prefer a hotel!
someone wants her to remodel their house.
I used Airbnb once. Never again and nothing like this didn’t happen. Yikes.
If your staying at an air BnB, take photo's when you arrive & before you leave.
Now sue the host for fraud.
This is like the7th story I heard thru out the US w Airbnb bogus bills after a stay… ppl will loosen a knob and request $150 for the knob and labor. I saw a woman charge $250 for a pot, she swapped out a burn on for the real one.
AirBNB isn’t worth using anymore.
Poor woman this is so unfair. Does a person need to do a video walk through before checking out?
Wow, what a scam
If the household has credible evidence why did they just dismiss the claim against her?
It's cheapo acrylic shower. Why would she pay $10,000 for tiles. Makes no sense.
is this the same Airbnb that PAID me for not keeping my confidentiality? and we sued in a large class action? I think so.
Lmao they're remodeling the bathroom and charging an airbnb customer. Does he kniw house fires just happen sometimes? Scary times
This is why AirBNB will fail 😮
I had an air bnb try to charge me 5000$ for a glass end table they had in their back yard that blew over and broke during a litteral hurricane in texas
Oh, yeah... I quit using airbnb years ago. Had a condo on the beach south of Tijuana, and it was horrid. When I complained, the host played head games with me. I eventually offered to settle the deal with me leaving no review and him cancelling the stay. Apparently, airbnb does not allow you to personally negotiate with the owners. The picture proof of roaches, cumstained bedding, and a nasty dishwasher full of moldy water and dirty dishes.... Photos and videos were of zero concern to Airbnb.
They eventually offered me credits....I said no, because I wanted to legally tell this story. Accepting the 'settlement' meant I was legally gagged. I chose to eat the cost and never, ever use airbnb again.
I've had really good luck with Bonvoy, though!
Best for this situation, if you rent any property and before leaving take all pictures of the house , furniture and walls. Keep some proof that you left the house without damage. I do same thing for house or car rental too .
I wouldn't want to stay in a home in an actual neighborhood like this. I wouldn't want to have one of these airbnb rentals as a neighbor, so I suspect permanent residents feel the same way. We do rent a condo on the beach in Texas when we go there, but it is more like a hotel, with on site mangers and almost all the condos are vacation rentals and the owners are from the north and live in them in the winter months.
So they didn't end up charging her but says that the host did nothing wrong. Well then either the host is out. $18,000 or there was fraud in Airbnb. Just doesn't want to admit it cuz they don't want to take down a million dollar listing. I'd probably go with Airbnb as being a traditional company and just trying to get the best of both worlds. Thank God there's a VRBO
My friend owns three, and he has hidden cameras in each one. It's not safe guys, you're being victimized.
If i travil i only stay in hotels. Because of this.
This has scam written all over it
As a former Airbnb Super host, this is an unacceptable crime to a guest. I am glad I closed my doors as there were Guests that were Terrible and heard too many horror stories of Hosts as well, most of my guests were very nice, I Rented Rooms and Lived there as well. Airbnb is not what it used to be.
Airbnb does not care. If you stay at one, take pictures before and after. If you get injured you’ll have a hard time getting them to pay. Learned this the hard way!
Shakedown. Pretty obvious.
My brother rented a airbnb and it has decible reader . They told them if it goes over a certain level they would be kicked out. They had a huge list of rules by the front door also. Pure bullshit.
So the lesson here could be....if you are still brave enough to use Airbnb after hearing this story? Might be wise to make a detailed video of the property you rent, right when you arrive to check-in, show the date and time on the video, and show the condition of each room as you found it, upon check-in. That way if any chucklehead, attempts to shake you down, you will have video proof on your side.🤔👍
When you use airbnb, you are at the total mercy of the host who might questionable motives. I have always felt uncomfortable living in a stranger's house even if the host was highly rated. No thanks!
At this point people should know to avoid Airbnb. You never hear any good stories
Yeah. Never AirBnB again. Not worth the savings,
Not much savings anyways. So many fees
It really is no savings.. and the hosts can watch you on their hidden cameras
That’s horrible…
Tell us who the host is!
Boycott Airbnb 👎🏻
It's strange that this story which is such an obvious money grab and unscrupulous thing to attempt to do to this woman is aired without naming the person (who wouldn't even reply to requests from the reporter) who accused her of all this damage and "invoiced" her over 18 grand. Why? Why blur the picture of the home and not name the person who's accusing her? If he feels confident enough to accuse this woman of all that damage and try to shake her down to the tune of over eighteen thousand two hundred dollars, there should be NO problem identifying him, right? I wouldn't ever rent from this Airbnb company for just this reason. Why bother? Just go to a reputable hotel and take a video during your final walk through with a time and date stamp on. People suck and I am at the point where I trust NO ONE anymore.
Why would any one stay in an air b and b? I much rather stay in a hotel
Always video your area
18k would be enough to renovate that entire bathroom and then some. What a joke.
After seeing this story, I don't think I'll ever rent an Airbnb.
Airbnb and Uber take rights away. it's in the fine print that NO ONE reads. Right to a clean sanitary meal and the right to a fair stay. Stop normalizing right removing companies.
Don't stay at Airbnb because they might have hidden cameras throughout the property. The host, a male, sounds like a creep...he knew a woman and her women friends would be renting.
Most try to keep the deposit 100% of the time.
Never have used AirBnB or similar arrangements, never will. Way too many risks and creepy/crazy host horror stories. (Yes, there are plenty of stories about really bad guests, too.)
Besides, with all the requirements (laundry, dishes, other cleaning) and extra fees the hosts are charging, it ends up costing the same or even more than just staying in a hotel.
AirBnB/VRBO and similar should be restricted to how it originally started out-crashing for cheap in a stranger's own home (unless the property is zoned as commercial and subject to all the same rules as a hotel).
They always look out for the host.
I have not rented an air bnb and have no plans to do so.
She needs to publish the name and location of the host ...so others know who it is and where 😮
Doubt that would help since it sounds like he is selling the place.
I won’t stay in any Airbnb now I can see the scammers at work!
The owner wanted to remodel and just charged this guest for damage he did himself.
$2,020.00 for a management fee ? ? ?
Air BnB would take her side if she spent more money with them over the host. simple.
They should really require a walk through when checking out to avoid this crap.
Airbnb ripped me off $750.00 I've never used them again.
Who will be foolish enough to even pay this?
Common sense doesn’t apply to the airbnb support team does it.
I would never use Air BnB for this very reason…
I lived next door to a house that use to Air Bnb their roommate’s room whenever she was out of town, unbeknownst to her. Strangers sleeping in her bed and she wouldn’t know it.
People need to take pictures when they get there and when they leave
I stopped using AirBnB after they charged me for a single night stay in Singapore for $3,500 for a fraudulent listing for a reservation I did not make. I eventually got my money back, but it took a lot of time, research, and anguish.
Never use Air BnB its 💩
Never stay in AirBnB, most of them are not covered by insurance. Not to mention, spy cameras. If you can't stay at a hotel/motel where you are - just drive further to find one.
We've rented vacation houses so many times. First thing when we check in, we record every room. If something is broken or damaged, we notify the owner right away. Then the day when we check out, we do another recording every room as well. That way we have something to fight back.
ALWAYS take a video of how the place looked when you arrive AND a video of how the place looks when you leave it.
I had to leave my air bnb early when the host had his contractors (who were flipping the house) staying in the backyard and basement doing construction on the house the entire time. Giving them access/keys to the basement gave them complete access to the first floor apartment I was staying in since the basement door didn’t lock to my apartment. One of them showed up at 9pm at night in the basement. As a single female renter I was not happy, had to leave immediately. Would never rent from them again
It sounds as if the owner has decided they want a new bathroom, and this lady is being used as the excuse.
When we rented our place out, one of the things you take out is insurance just in case anything like this happens with your renters.
Wow! I've actually found myself booking more and more with hotels. You get more perks and won't deal with this insanity. Airbnb has become way too expensive and you even have to do chores.
It takes a truly evil human being to try that kind of crap.
That's why you shouldn't stay in Airbnb
Airbnb hosts are scummy. I would never rent from them.
Literally never used Airbnb just don’t
USe Air BnB often. Saying that, we always take pictures of the entire place. Have had no bad reviews, then again, never had a host like this loute.
I'm sure it will help you when you do get a bad host. With that said, do you always do that on vacations? I've only used Airbnb about twice, and both places were slightly worse than a poorly maintained hotel room. Further, the service is nonexistent and I don't get that random interaction with other single travelers. Needless to say, I'm not a fan of Airbnb.
Seriously, It looks like someone smashed it with a hammer. If one of the ladies actually caused the damage by kicking or punching the tub in anger with their foot or hand, they would be on the hospital for sure. Let’s just pretend that one of the ladies is a psycho and purposely damaged the tub with a hammer. Logically, it’s wasn’t one psychopath alone in the house who could have secretly done that.
I was looking into a few airbnb for my upcoming trip but after hearing about this I’m saying good bye to all future airbnb booking! Not worth the headaches when hotels are about the same price.
Airbnb has ruined so many cities and towns. Trash company.
