  • In this episode we do a how to guide on changing Land Rover Defender TD5 wheel and swivel bearings, using the correct spacers, shims and measuring the end float. We also install some 3 degree cranked radius and trailing arms to resolve to out of whack axle geometry caused by the 2 inch lift kit.

When you set the front swivel preload you had the swivel ball seal fitted and the cv, it's meant to be done without the seal and cv. I usually convert the Td5 type wheel bearings to the twin nut 300tdi type, means you can throw the spacer away and adjust the bearings easier, costs buttons to do. 👍

There certainly is a lot of parts on the Defender front axle.....
Did you observe the two special swivel to axle case bolts?

There sure are...definitely takes longer when you do bearings and races twice 😂😂😂. Didn’t notice special bolts, what are they?

@@rustandoil interesting, don’t think I came across that in the book. Didn’t read it too thoroughly though 😂 we have been using LR workshop for parts numbers and now I think I understand why there are two part numbers for what seemed to be the same bolts. I will get a couple of these and chuck them in the top two. Thanks for the tip and noticing this as we didn’t 👍🏻
