- Coach says Slipknot is like a good palette cleanser that you just need sometimes, so we go back to the Download 2009 concert for "Surfacing" which some of the fans say is a mandatory listen to be a real Maggot.

The little smile on Coaches face says it all ❤❤
It is fine if you don't like it, maggots understand slipknot isn't for everyone but I think we all can appreciate the fact that the music is good
Maggots have been some of the most tolerant folks of all the fanbases we've come across.
Well said ✌️
the guys were so creative with the aggression that they were very good at harnessing and getting out so heavy and the rhythms are timeless that intro is relentless and the fact that there is nine people here two drummers and one guy on turntables four guys on guitar two bass players rither way noine people is quite a few to have to pay when said tour is over and done
I'm in that crowd, Download Festival 2009 is one of my favourite gig memories, the entire weekend was pure magic.
That must have been an amazing experience!
This song is from 1999 A decade before this performance. I saw them at Ozzfest 1999 just two months after the album was released. Check out an older performance it was 100x more extreme.
We've heard their early stuff is really hard and dark.
do you mean that summer 2 months after ozzfest they played on the Coal Chamber tour The album came out on june 29th by this date they was playing at Holmdel NJ during ozzfest
@@TheIcpfan23 I live in Michigan and I've been to seven of the older Ozzfest they were always in August here in Michigan. Yeah I know when the album came out so not even two months maybe a month, either way I didn't even know who they were. That year at Ozzfest in Michigan they had a tiny bonus 3rd stage with Slipknot, Static-X and Fear Factory. That shit was wild because only a few hundred people at best could fit in that space to see them.
Joey=drum god
Well it was a really rocking music , the drum, the guitar , I like the music. And they got cool costumes.
This was my first metal song back when I was 11ish (the year was around 2002-2003 its been too long for me to remember exactly I just know it was around 7th or 8th grade) after this it was off to the races. This song still makes my brain go unga bunga smash with club in all the right ways. It's the in your face primal aggression being channeled in a healthy way.
Yeah, great description. LOL
I LOVE watching your videos. Please do eyeless and/or vermillion pt 1 & 2!
Thanks very much. We'll definitely try to do more Slipknot. It's a shame TH-cam has blocked several of our reactions to them which had to be put on Patreon.
@@CoachCastTV I’ve heard that from a couple reaction channels on here when it comes to Slipknot. Sad 🙁 I’ll check out your patreon.
@@emilylynnladwig9832 Awesome! Yeah, we're not quite sure the logic they use, because some people post the ones we've had blocked.
this song is so much me... also my favourit song of all time 😂
Coach, not only will I do it for you…but yes…yes I will do it for you
What metal sounds like to Mrs. Coach is what kpop sounds like to us 😅
Haha, yeah, everyone brain is wired differently when it comes to music.
Joey se escucha bastante bien en la batería, excelente velocidad.
The bass player Paul Gray sadly died from drugs soon after this. 😢😢 He was one of my favorite bassist.
Oh, that's really sad to hear. That's way too young.
Yep, he was 38 he would be turning 52 if he was alive.
@@joshuamasserant8215 Gracious...far too early!
Love blackpink. Watched babymonster from a few weeks after the first upload on their channel.
But this is what I grew up with. Korn, deftones, limp bizkit, coal chamber, sepultura. Disturbed is another band to listen to especially down with the sickness. You have probably heard bits of it in movies.
Also loved eminem, bone thugs and harmony, wu tang. Even groups like ICP.
It’s good to try all types of music. It’s good to see you guys try new things.
Thanks. Yes, we have truly enjoyed the journey to discover new music, and we want to keep some variety on the channel. There's so much good music in the world, and it's not all in one genre. We appreciate you, as always!
No problem.
Honestly disturbed “down with the sickness” and “the sound of silence” are good to check out. You could put them in one vid just showing the variety of songs disturbed can do.
Sound of silence is a cover from the Simon and Garfunkel song. But very unique. And way better.
@@chrisdef15 Oh, we remember that song, the original version.
gotta do SPIT IT OUT now from Download
That's on the channel. Check the playlist for Slipknot.
I can't advise ever doing live concert material without doing the studio versions first, That being said, Coaches energy towards slipknot and the artist release, is really quite good. Please do studio versions first, maybe even lyric video's. But man i love this channel.
Mrs. Coach... even when something isn't your taste, you are still a maggot with us. Even we don't love every song they've produced but hearing such an open minded view of the visceral nature of what the 9 did do, for a whole generation of kids who felt unseen, (as Corey would say) is such a F'ing breath of fresh air..
That's very kind of you to say. Thank you!
I love kpop, love slipknot and love Dimash (who sings in a loooot of different musical styles, but mostly towards classical music. You guys should check, he's amazing). So yeah, I love good music in geral, regardless of the style.
Awesome to see someone so open-minded!
The thing is, we know not everyone likes slipknot amd that is OK, but no one can deny they put on 1 hell of a show and Corey is one of the greatest show/frontmen ever, if he told the crowd to throw all their money on stage, they would 😅
The 2004 London version is better
SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL - VIKING
The showmanship cannot be denied.
they play so fast compared to the studio version
Yep you got to remember where you started 😎 Slipknot is really cool though.
Yes, they are!

A band called Mushroomhead came out a little before Slipknot and I kinda think Mushroomhead is a little bit better.. different but better to me... Similar in style... You should check them out.. i suggest as a first entry song you do Solitaire Unraveling.
Interesting. We've never heard them, appreciate that suggestion!
@@CoachCastTV ... They have an incredible singer ... One of the best singers ever really.. the music is a bit more digestible than Slipknot.. the focus more on clever composition than complete mayhem.. but are still pretty heavy for sure.. part of why they didn't get to the same level of popularity as Slipknot is because at first they insisted on producing their own albums and didn't sing on to a official record label.. so that slowed them down but also allowed them to be more creative.. eventually they did sell to a label and even recorded the same album twice in a Taylor Swift style move to keep control of their original content.. the band is all about vocals in a way and they have used up to 4 singers in a single song.. I think they have about 5 common vocalists and probably used at least 7 if you count some guest vocals.. but usually 2... If you check them out always try for an official video because they have awesome videos... And you can always see them sing and play in their official videos... Live video from this band usually suck with sound quality and look like it's filmed on a cell phone.. watching these guys is like seeing a horror movie... Their costumes blow Slipknot away and pretty much anyone that has had costumes... My first choices are :
Solitaire Unraveling...
Out of my Mind....
We are the Truth...
Sun Doesn't Rise...
Our Apologies...
Kill Tomorrow....
If you like those and try them I'll suggest more... Truthfully this band was the first band that I feel like hit the mark as a band I could compare with the classic bands of the 70s like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin... They brought me back to music when I thought it was going dead...
Wow, that is high praise and certainly a lot of great info. We appreciate this a lot.
Awe man yall shoulda done the 2002 London one of this. This year he didn't sound good at all. Yall have got to do "purity" 2002 london. It's when they really hit the scene. It's soft and heavy mixed and they're wearing head cams too. So while u have the production video u also have clips of their pov
Head cams sound interesting. Thanks for the tip.
@CoachCastTV you're welcome. That whole concert is legendary. Whole is all over the place!. They also each have individual static cameras
1st like 👍
If you want something way different listen to Slipknot Iowa. Creepy song about serial killers
Yep nice Reaction as always , Mr and Mrs Coach please react or just check out AVA MAX'S - CHRISTMAS WITHOUT YOU cover by BABYMONSTER, their vocals are Going to shock you guys , and they wrote a rapline for it also.
We had recorded everything for this week, but we might get a chance to try to react to that before Christmas. We'll see what we can do.
