  • Today we are going to be looking at a A/C manifold gauge set from Harbor Freight. I’ll talk to you about my thoughts on the tool and what you get in the box. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Got one for $50 on clearance. Unfortunately it had two problems. 1. In the manual, the diagrams show that for a hose, the end with a metal bent is connected to the gauge, while the other end without a mental bent is connected to the service port valves. However pretty all the videos out there does the opposite. 2. The charge hose leaks after connected to the Harbor Freight can tap (no matter which end is connected to the tap).

On sale for $45 right now. Unfortunately the vac pumps have quadrupled in price.

Just bought that one today used it on a 2014 Chevy Silverado pulled vacuum with a Venturi cheap system but it worked fine, but I do have a 28 CFM truck compressor for the air to operate the vacuum Venturi system, found a crack buy a weld on the condenser ordered parts then I’ll see how that gauge set works charging the 29 ounce system, Gauges did work fine

I noticed the high side valve (not manifold valve) needs to be pulled up on slightly when you turn it or youll notice the center shaft doesnt turn, and that means the valve isnt opening.
Not sure if someone twirls the thing around 100 times if the friction fit it has will go away.
It seems ok, ya just gotta be careful with them and don't get hamfisted.

Thanks for the information in this video. Just curious to know how it’s held up for the past year?

Still haven’t heard any issues with it. One thing I will say, the hose quality is far behind the tool truck brands. I have since used a Matco set and that’s where the biggest difference is.

There's always leakage on this product anyhow. So grab on silicon sealant, hnbr o rings gaskets, or Teflon tapes.. whatever.

are the knobs on the manifold aluminum or plastic? Also, when you first bought it, did the case come shrink wrapped in plastic, or was it just covered in that cardboard cover (like you show in your video)? Would be better if it came shrink-wrapped cuz then you know no one has bought, used, and returned it.
