Man I'll happily take 3 to 5 seasons of getting into the CL and getting knocked out in the group stage, easing up the rest of the fixture list to be able to qualify again.
It's all about catching up at least a bit financially, to eventually be able to put a squad and a club together to really compete.

I think becoming a team that consistently gets Champions League isn't realistic for any team, however fighting for it every season is. We are basically there already, if Emery was in charge for all of last season we may well have finished higher. But it means that every season we go into, we want to be challenging for those top 4 spots, not necessarily locking them down as I agree, that is exceptionally hard and in recent history only Man City have consistently done tht. This means finishing anywhere from 1-7th really and I think that is totally realistic, especially as, over the last 2 seasons, we have achieved that. With ManUre, Liverpool and Chelsea being far off it, why can't we?

It's exactly the same situation as Newcastle.

I am tired of this "Villa is only in the top 4 because other teams are struggling" nonsense. Even if Villa "only" win 2 of the last 4 games that puts us on 72 points which is more then
Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea got last season
Spurs, Arsenal and United got in the 21/22 season
Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal got in the 20/21 season
United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal got in the 19/20 season
And I could keep going. So lets not pretend that this is some one off season where the "Sky 6" are suddenly struggling. Facts say that every single season at least 3 of those don't get above 71 points. So that's what Villa have to do, get to 71 points and Champions league should be almost guaranteed, REGARDLESS of what the "sky 6" do.
And as far as FFP goes, well I think the likes of Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and Spurs have proven that just because you have the means of spending a lot and they have, that does not guarantee success on the pitch. All of those clubs have spent a lot more then Villa in the last 5 years especially when you consider 2/3 of Villa's spending was done in the 19/20 and 20/21 seasons, mostly out of necessity.
So Villa getting top 4 is NOT predicated on what the "Sky 6" do but on what ASTON VILLA does, and believe me, You haven't seen anything yet.
So up Unai Emery's Mighty ASTON VILLA and stop all this BS talk.

Remember 4-5 years ago our new owners took on a broken club in despair and constructed a 5 year plan to steadily improve the club from the ground up to take us to Europe and to take us to heights my generation had never seen. Yeah, we’ve took our time building it up in a sustainable manner and I don’t see them stopping there. This is no flash in the pan. I have complete faith in this football club and man, I am loving every minute of this incredible journey!

What people seem to be missing is villas style. Theyve coped with injuries, theyve coped with europe, theyll cope with champions league next year. Why? Because of their style of play. They control the games. Regardless of investment, regardless of anything, they arent going away.

Yea it's good for our players to have a little bit of rest also during the game I've heard that Emi has had the ball for 90 minutes or something like that he's had it the most in the league that's for certain which helps us with the tough schedule especially with our injuries

Idk, the only times I’ve seen villa struggle this season were with fatigue, a major injury in the match (eg Mings vs Newcastle), Robin Olsen in goal, or experimental formations (5-back vs spurs).
Worth remembering too, Emery has done this with the bulk of players signed by Dean smith / Gerrard when we were bottom half. The captain was signed under Steve Bruce in the championship.

They said Chelsea would get better last season and they didn’t no team has a right to be in the the top 4 and Chelsea especially are in big financial trouble they will have to sell players before they can think about buying anyone. One of those big teams can fall it’s happened before and it probably will happen again why can’t a team like Villa or Newcastle be the one to take their place.

Danny Murphy has spoken sense and Simon Jordan is quite positive about Villa often. So far the ownership has delivered on their targets ahead of schedule. Villa were in danger of becoming a big club after they won the league and the European Cup in the 1980s with a young team. I was in Birmingham the day their chairman 'Deadly' Doug Ellis fired Ron Saunders the manager, Everybody agreed it was a mistake and the club has never recovered. Ellis held Villa back. They have a metropolitan population of around 4.3 million people and no significant local competition. If they are run properly they could become one of the biggest clubs in the country.

I don't agree with Simon but I understand the point he's making. There are bigger boys in PL who will come strong in the next few years. But people were doubting Villa will be able to finish in the top 8 this year, with the Conference Lg schedule added. Even with the crazy amount of injuries, Unai and the team have proven they're top quality. If they can secure top 4, the additional funds and the bigger profile will help them improve their squad. I fully trust Unai at this point, there is not an ounce of reason to doubt him. UTV!

When the owners took over they wanted champs league in 5 years and we are on the verge hopefully. This team has barely begun, most of them started with us at a young age and are coming into their prime like Konsa, Luis, Watkins, mcginn. They are a great base to build from in the next stage. The youth set up is in good hands to as is the recruitment so it’s barely begun. The likes off united, Chelsea, Liverpool are in transition and you never know how that will go, the manager is crucial. If Pep goes then there are a fair few clubs that are knocking on the door. It could mean a level playing ground and as Unai is possibly one of the top 2 -3,managers in the league anything could happen. It could depend on what money we can generate as we grow although Unai seems to be a very good coach when given the raw materials not necessarily the already proven players.

As a Villa fan I think the supporter base is far more realistic than Newcastle or Spurs. In reality a top half finish is decent given the competitive nature of the league and then push for the European places. In some exceptional years they will hopefully get CL football. Of course we have to keep in mind that Man Utd and Chelsea have been tepid at best this year and they will likely improve. Also there is some kind of conspiracy to keep Everton in the Prem and they will also do better at some point sadly. Throw in Newcastle, Spurs, Leeds, West Ham and other teams of similar size and finishing 4th every year becomes a tall order. Fingers crossed for this year!

Completely overlooking the fact that under Emery Villas points gained have averaged 4th position...not just this season but last season too.
He came in last season inheriting a relegation threatened team and got them into Europe finishing 7th.
This season adding in the signings of Diaby, Torres and Zaniolo(whilst losing three players to acl injuries)weve improved upon last season and are set to finish 4th plus in European semi final.
Comparing us to West Ham pre season and now Newcastle for next if were in the Champions League.....Emery is not Moyes or Howe...hes managed a thousand games plus, success at multiple clubs, consistently acheived in Europe and the league.
