How to fix the red light issue on Xbox 360 power brick

- This is a step by step video on how to fix the red light on your Xbox 360 power brick.
I’ve been doing this method for years now and so far it has worked well for me.
This may differ for some people because there is more than just one thing that can cause your power brick light to be red.
This is specifically for if you have a power surge and your power brick is showing a red light.
However it might be able to fix other stuff as well.

before i got an original "Fat" 360 i had a slim with power brick issues just hitting it on the side of the power brick makes the fans come back on..

I spilled pop on my hard drive and a bit of top or xonsole and i wipe it with a towel turns off when i turn it on then dont turn on and red brick so im trying this
I just had 2 bricks turn red like this and I did the unplug cooldown but they still were red after. Why arent they resetting?
Ok its not only cds causing it i put in a game lego the hobbit and it happened again then i put in a game what i just brought it happened again but its not happening when i put dvds into the xbox im getting confused cds and games are causing the problem it could be the heat here in the uk we have had a really bad heatwave causing the power brick to overheat quicker im going to open my window since the heatwave has gone now thank goodness and let the power brick cool down if it still happens when i put my games in then what would be the problem

I tried basically doing what he said you know unplug everything ect then plug it back in after a minute or two but the power brick light was still red then I plugged the power cable back into my xbox and the light turned green so I'm assuming it is just randomly working now even though the light was supposed to turn orange and not green

it just went red for me randomly while i was playing portal then i replug it it starts goes red again i replug it then i get to the home screen goes red again then i replug it and then it works fine
I decided to play some Xbox 360 even tho i have an Xbox x and egen i tried to start it this happend and i Did all these steps and my power bank does turné yellow but when i start to press the power button it just turns on for a sec and then back off

This happened to mine after I switched off the mains and then switched it back on after a few seconds. It would seem it didn’t like that anyway just disconnecting from the mains power overnight seemed to fix it. I didn’t physically unplug any cables from the console just at the mains.

Didn't work for me. I blew the dust out of mine with my mouth without opening it up and connected it back and now the brick it red and won't turn on if anyone could help me I would appreciate it.
You need to buy a new adapter when that happens
im pretty sure it goes red due to having to much dust build up inside which stops fan working and then it overheats.... hoover the holes worked for me

Hey did u fix it cause I'm having the same problem
It will before I even watch this video I can tell u it won’t work, u don’t need to unplug it u can just leave it, but u need to wait an hour or 2 so it cools down. I got annoyed by this so I built my own custom Xbox from scratch and can tell u that if u want to game for a long time then u need to take the case of and just buy a much more powerful cooling fan, hope this helped🙂👍

I got to round 153 on Origins on bo2. Then my screen when to no signal and my Xbox 360 was off. I checked my brick and the light was red

I found sometimes it goes deeper than this. Sometimes the power brick's pins are bent and you have to bend them back into shape. And my issue was a dusty port on the console

Thats just a temporary fix mine did that so i pulled apart the power block and found out it was over heating do to all the dust it gathered they have a small fan on the inside that keeps them cool but they collect dust bad so they get to hot

it's not working for me, it's been 10 years since I turned on my xbox360 last time, and recently when browsed my achievements list and looked into Resident Evil 5, I thought maybe I should finish it. but it's not a backward compatibility title means CAPCOM wants to sell the remake version on Xbox One/Xbox Series again to gain more money, I think I should find another way to fix it.
