The official language of Karnataka is Kannada and English and those two languages are enough and Hindi is not our language & If Hindi is used in our state, let Kannada be used in our capital Delhi Metro.

I have been to Bangalore so many times and never had any problems. The locals readily speak kannada, Telugu, Tamil English and Hindi. But if you tell them to speak or learn Hindi they will resist and rightly so.

They are treated according to how they treat the locals. Many of them settle in the south, live there for many years, refuse to learn the local languages, refuse to speak in English (even though many of them know it) and then bully the locals into using only Hindi.

What the Bengalurean expected at a bare minimum was a modicum of understanding for the language and the way of life of the natives. The Bengalurean would have been fine even if the migrants did not learn the local language, as long as there was respect and understanding. In the early 2000s and to some extent even now, a lot of "superiority complex" was observed, and that is what has led to problems. To be very clear - there is a difference between saying, "Sorry sir, I do not know Kannada, can you speak in English or Hindi please", and "Hindi is the national language, why don't you guys speak it"?
Bengalureans were never langauge fanatics. The stereotype of Bengaluru as "svalpa hondukondu hogi" is actually quite accurate - if you give respect and don't say nonsense like "yahan ke log Hindi nahi bolte" or "yaar, we don't even get good alu poori here, in my Meerut/Itarsi/Udaipur it is not like this".. just don't say such shit and you will be fine. Luckily, with increasing internet penetration and knowledge, more people are getting the memo.
However, I must reiterate that Bengalureans are practical and adjusting, and no one will ever demand you to learn the language, so long as you are respectful and have a clear understanding that the locals are accommodating you and that the locals are not obliged to serve you in Hindi. If the locals serve you in Hindi, it is their goodness and as they say in Hindi, the "badhappan" of the locals. Don't speak of "national language" etc. and put people's backs up.
In over two decades Bengaluru has seen significant change. While the localite might wistfully think back to the days when Bengaluru was cooler and greener and there were no traffic jams, we might reminisce about the times when life was unhurried and simple, we might nostalgically look back at the time when we did not have crowds, pollution and road rage, and we might even fantasize about a time long-gone-by, when it could be assumed that almost everyone in the city would know Kannada, this sense of pining has lead to anguish and frustration as they live to see all this crumble before their eyes.
I recall a rant by Professor C.N.R Rao back in 2008/9 where he said, "if IT takes away Bangalore's values, burn IT". For him, his by-2 kaapi and masala dose in Vidyarthi bhavana is probably paramount.
With a backdrop like this, perhaps, if one is facing discrimination now, it's only because of the behavior by earlier expatriates.
This situation almost prompltly, reminds me of a short poem I read that appeared anonymously in an early issue of the St. Nicholas Magazine from 1876:

Except when you're given a crack."

This, I'm convinced accurately potrayss what the relation between migrants in Bengaluru and the locals has been for decades now. The Pot, obviously, the expatriate and the kettle, the local.

Hindi is not the specific language of any one state, Hindi is widely used in India, and therefore in other states, along with Hindi, the language of that state is also mentioned.

Let’s be even handed here. Bengaluru is a metropolitan city and people from all over the country come here not just for livelihood but for medical reasons. I know a couple of my relatives who are in their 60’s that come to Narayana Hridayalaya for quarterly check-ups. They use the metro extensively and since they are elderly and not very educated, they can’t read English. There are thousands of people like this that come to Bengaluru for similar reasons. Let’s not inconvenience them for politics. I understand if Hindi is put over Kannada, why the public would be angry. But it’s not, Hindi is added so that people who are not well versed in English or Kannada would be able to navigate the city. If all of us start fighting in the name of regionalism, the very fabric of our society will be torn to shreds. Please don’t allow the politicians to divide us further.

Being a Northie remember this very clearly. Don't try to prove that you are more patriotic than south Indians by disapproving English. English is a much respected language in the south. whether you like it or not is of little consequence. If you can avoid speaking in Hindi, you are more likely to be acceptable to the locals. South Indians show respect for their nation in many different ways -- by following the rule of law, maintaining cleanliness, avoiding waste, respecting public property, paying taxes on time, not spitting pan on the sidewalk etc etc.
Learn to speak Kannada, Telugu, Tamil or Malayalam. South Indians will expect you to learn at least one of these languages and disrespecting this can make life hell for you. Keep your love for Hindi under wrap. If not, you are potentially inviting trouble upon yourself.
Don't be flamboyant with your money. The locals are just as wealthy as you may be or even better off. Flashiness can invite trouble for yourself, and if you include some loud Hindi, you are inviting more trouble. People in the south find Hindi strange and nonrhythmic. Why will you want someone unwilling to hear your language?
Don't advice the resident people to learn Hindi. South Indians will not learn Hindi for the sake of making life easy for a north Indian. It is in the south Indians psyche to learn only those languages that are utilitarian; and Hindi is not one of it for many people here. Hindi to us is an useless language. It has absolutely no worth in any fit form or size.
So don’t come to southern india with your “ janta hey bey ki mera baap kaun hai”. Keep this attitude in your states.

Today more people know Hindi, but can we say we are more united? No today we have more tug of war.
Whatever development has happened in India, Hindi hardly has any role to play. Otherwise UP & MP would have been the most developed states in India and the labour force would have migrated from all of India to these states. But that is not the case. Can you show me one reason why a state like UP is not developed? It has all the ingredients - political power electing 80 MPs, having Hindi as the official language as well as mother tongue. People there don’t have to learn any other language.

But those are warning signs you are placing stickers on. Many of those warnings are meant to prevent fatalities. Just because of someone's politics, there can be fatalities.
