just watched again as I managed to win an akto on ebay (about twice what you paid) you have converted me to the tent on the outside. ps I have the same hat - it is the best winter hat ever.

Hi Jiffy, great video as always. I've used an Akto for years but I've taken the plunge now and purchased the Soulo. It's arriving on Monday 1st March. Had a bit of a game finding one. They've been as thin on the ground as rocking horse sh.t just lately but eventually Nordic Outdoors got some in stock. Can't wait to try the beast out! ATB.
You won’t be disappointed Frederick, it’s a great tent. Just be prepared for the smaller vestibule in comparison to the Akto. It does surprise some people who have had an Akto first. It is still usable though, as you will see in some of my winter films. The headroom is much better though. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻🏴
@@WildCampingWelshman Yes, I'm fully aware of the smaller vestibule thanks to one of your other videos. Can't see it really being a problem for me though. I'm quite a tidy organised sort of person. You can of course temporarily release some of the front toggles connecting the inner to the outer and give yourself a bit more room that way if needed. This will be the first free standing tent I've ever owned. I'm actually thinking of pitching it in the lounge and sleeping in it tomorrow night! Maybe that's too sad.
@@frederickridall628 You have to do a living room / lounge pitch, life's too short not to 😂. I have used it a couple of times without any guy lines. My winter camp in the rain and the one in the Brecon Beacons where I don't talk in the film were both freestanding pitches 👍🏻🏴

All my reservations about price and value for money etc evaporated. This thing is fit for purpose. No doubt about that. Sleeping in it tonight. Can't wait to put the beauty through its paces. ATB.
Just been enjoying some of your past videos and now i stupidly realize why I was so confused why your digital thermometer always seems to show such high temps! Even with the C° to F° conversion for us Yanks, I couldn’t figure out why you were chilly at 49° for example....now I understand there is a decimal point in there! Haha it wasn’t snowing at 12° but at 1.2°! All is right in the world again! Keep it up mate. Be well!
Hi. Nice video. If you could alter anything on the tent, what would it be? Add vent, guylines, storm mats, mesh, zippers, etc. I ask because I intend to buy and have it professionally modified for me by a company.
The only issue I’ve had with it is the leaking I mentioned in this film. Other than that. I would possible purchase a second pole to “double pole” it under windy conditions 👍🏻
Cannot find anything enjoable about camping out in the wild in winter. It`s cold, damp, dirty and you will freeze like shit. Good for you if you have fun but that`s definitely not my idea of having a good time. Will upvote you anyway for your effort.
Pen Man I bought the tent, used, off eBay so don’t know how old it is but have read on other articles that it is not unusual for a leak to form in that place. There isn’t any obvious damage so I assumed it was the stitching needing sealing. It hasn’t leaked since but yes, I agree, for a £600 tent, it shouldn’t leak. Hilleberg have probably addressed this issue now 🤞🏻. Thank you for watching 👍🏻

Have you considered putting thr tent at the top of the pack and the mat at the bottom?
I’ve changed a lot of my equipment since this film mate. It all fits inside my pack now 👍🏻
