Thank you so much!! We don't need it any other time than the winter here! The walls and floor insulation do a pretty good job! Keep up with us on our Highway 89 series coming soon!
The song that starts at 6:45; the singer has a great voice. Reminds me of the buttery smooth pipes of Chris Cornell.... Thank you for sharing this video, illustrating the setbacks as well.
Thank you for liking it! I have spend a lot of time choosing the music to try to fit the mood of the build segments. Same with our travel videos. Glad you enjoyed it!
Congrats! There are few better feelings than being able to sit back and enjoy the view of years of planning, hard work, and painting. Lots and lots of painting. Enjoy your new barndominium!
Hearty congratulations for building your dream. Passion and interest trumps the long work days. This is an inspiration for me, unfortunately most population lost the art of building on their own.
Good Job, a lot of hard work to do most of it yourself. The only thing that I would have done differently, I would have put insulation on the outside of the roof. Rockwool under the so the attic would have been conditioned space.
For sure. But it is a large space! Over 16' tall inside the garage, plenty of room inside, not sure if we could actually use the attic space... Over our first winter we were no lower than 55 degrees inside the garage with no heat! 65 inside the living space before we turned on the Mini Splits. So far so good!
Just curious why people are using wood trusses with tall roofs, and wood/wallboard for the interior walls instead of the ICF roof panels, and either thin ICF's or poly panels with mortar for the inside walls? Wood, paint and wallboard is expensive, as well as the siding, etc.
Thanks for the questions. We used Engineered trusses because of the span in the garage area. All other interior walls are non-supporting. I designed a Barn-look, thus the exterior panels hung vertical. Thank you for the comment!
I know the storms set you back but remember everything is there for a reason and the reason was God send you a sign that you're doing the right thing by building a home out of solid poured concrete because of the storms and possible tornadoes in the summer a lot of people lose their lives because they built these homes in Tornado Alley out of wood and we have all seen the sad destruction and loss of lifes God bless you and your family with the build and that beautiful home and God bless the 🙏🇺🇲United States of America🙏 🇺🇸
Gotta luv in-floor hydronic heat as the floor becomes a flywheel of warmth. .. Great choice!
A super big undertaking.. All the very best.
