    I guess a lot of people cant see what took 2 years to build there. Well, I am Aussie living in Yucatan, Mexico for last 17 years...been married to my wonderful Mexican wife for 15 years of that. I work as an architect and have been building high end housing and high rise apartments for my time here. My wife and I decided we would build ourselves a nice little resort in the Yucatan Jungle for my retirement next year. Well.. our little project has grown from 400 m2 to over 1800 m2 in its duration on our 40 hectare lot. All built with Monolithic slab, steel posts and beams and wood and natural stone. Very Rustic but modern. Plenty of the natural wood. And glass...floor to ceiling glass and glass doors all round so we can see the river and falls to our right and the beautiful jungle and animals all around us. Jungle to the glass at times. We tried to keep the natural element as much as possible. The roof is flat 120mm foam-Crete to handle the summer heat here. It consists of a main communal structure or dining lounge and kitchen, with garden surround and exterior entertainment area, pathways leading out to the 22 various stone, wood and glass self contained accommodations of around 60 m2 each. It has Saunas, Spa pools and Massage therapy rooms all round. We have a massive rock and palm surround pool surrounded by the natural Yucatan jungle as a feature in the center. This was our dream that just grew as we grew older, lol. My own paradise so to say...and we will have guests as company that way. Still ..only ten minutes drive from the beach. This has taken me over ten years to build, 7 years nearly full on while subcontracting to others. And the time goes so fast when you are busy. I admit I often wondered if it was worthwhile. I am still mid way on my last job...a resort for another customer. I need to make back some retirement fund, lol. Operational for last 3 months, and I know now it was all worthwhile. You have realized your dream also ..this is what our lives are all about...small ..large... somewhere in between dreams...but each our own and very satisfying and worthwhile. Job well done brother!!

    It's so neat to look back at the complete build! I got my bathroom underground plumbing finished up today but everything is so wet I need to compact on so more areas to finish up before I can work on installing the foam floor. I'm going to rent a small lift next week to install some soffit lights and other flood lights, so much to do! Take care and don't work too hard out that way!

      That’s Eagle Concrete Sealer, works great. Really scrub your builder, make sure they know how to build steel buildings. I would have put another door on the backside so I had two drive through bays, but that’s about it… hopefully your build goes well! I love having a building, it changes everything.

    Great build! Definitely an Ultimate Garage! I, too, saved for years to build my backyard shop; all by myself except for the slab, over the last year. About 90% done.
    I may have missed it, but did you seal the concrete? If so, what did you use? I like the look of concrete over a flaked epoxy floor!

    Nice building and nice job. The one thing I don't agree with is if I put this kind of money into this garage, it would definitely have a floor above that ceiling with a staircase up to it. That's just too much storage space to lose. Nice job tho.

    • @shotslife
      @shotslife  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair enough!

    • @mevestiller
      @mevestiller 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I do feel like that would have substantially increased the cost though the way he was able to just do the Aluminium ceiling he would have had to buy and install sheathing plus whatever to finish the inside of the ceiling. So if he didn’t expressly need the extra space maybe it would t have been worth the extra cost? Preface: I have no idea what I’m talking about so there’s that…

    • @curtzeek8818
      @curtzeek8818 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@mevestiller I understand all that and took that into consideration. I just would have done it that way, and if I couldn't at the time, I would have made it where I could do it later by laying the floor and adding the staircase myself.

    Some dream garage you have there. Made from wood sticks, paper and glue and some nails put altogether to make something that looks like a....... Stable and safe thing for the cars, wright? Near river, and when the river starts flooding around which will eventually come and with no problem enter in that garage if yours, do God knows how big damage, the wood already starts rotting..... But cars are having the dream home - your dream garage
