4:24 this is made even worse by the fact that in the cutscene in the end of the game, we see a woman that looks like an adult, and much better than tooty
I hated it playing it early on. The penalty for falling is too high(especially N64 NSO). Unless you saved the health from all your enemies, you won't survive more than a couple falls, and you have to scale it 4 times to 100%.
I really liked "Grunty's Furnace Fun", wishing I could go back to play it once I had finished it. I even had a file where I played every square on the board, and as soon as I the last square was completed, I reset the game, so I could play it again.
It’s magical- even better if you first experienced it as a child. It’s the video game equivalent of being in Disneyland. Mario 64 went for this, but Banjo nailed it even better.
10:45 There is absolutely no way on God's green planet Earth that Click Clock Wood is the worst level in the game. I am biased because I love the music (and in general, winter/ice/snow themes) as well as the creativity, but while it may be overrated and not as much fun to play as it is to watch, it definitely isn't the worst level in the game. I'll put it this way, there is one level that I have never gotten all 10 jiggies or 100 notes on and I refused to ever go back and try, and it wasn't Click Clock Wood.
It's not a bad level. In many ways it expands upon some of the aspects of the previous level. It's just hard. But that's to be expected. It's late in the game. Stages are meant to be challenging at that point.
Banjo Tooie is the better game and you're correct to say so. I am biased because the note collection mechanic made Kazooie totally unbeatable to child me. Tooie is just a game where there's always something to chip away at and make progress.
I do and have agreed with that opinion for years. Ever since I first played tooie tbh. I love the back tracking and free feeling, having all the moves from the first game immediately is a huge plus. Can't wait for them to FINALLY put it on NSO
Very interesting watching this after peeping your Tooie video. I find myself agreeing with you on a lot of points such as Rusty Bucket Bay being the most frustrating level. I've managed to make RBB easier on myself by doing the engine room first, but I also do that propeller jiggy before anything because that's always a run killer. Also, my bros and I call the Mumbo Tokens Eekum Bokums too! I was a big nerd who read the game manual and learned they were called tokens, but my bros called everything by the sounds they made. Like red feathers weren't red feathers, it was just a whistle anytime we'd talk about it. Click clock wood can be super frustrating and I have found myself often scouring each season to find the last note which is why I do as you do and scour for the notes before I do anything of importance in each season. Something I failed to mention in my comment on the Tooie video is the improved animations such as Banjo's pack flapping as you run. I bring this up cos anytime I play Kazooie, I also think to myself that I can't wait to play the follow up because of minor improvements like that. I know they're small things, but it's a nice little indication of progress imho. The worst thing about the Brentilda facts and the Grunty questions is they are RNG based, so you can't even look up a guide because the answer changes each new playthrough. A mechanic I'm glad they got rid of in the sequel. Funny enough, I never realized just how plain the transformations in this game are. After playing Tooie and turning into things where you can actually do more than just collect a few things really spoiled me. I did manage to do all the BottlesBonus stuff and get the cheat for washing machine banjo, but ofc it's just a model swap which stinks. The Mr. Vile mini game and the Boggy race always pissed me off since you need the running shoes for both and in the Boggy race case, I often slip into the water which cancels out the turbo talon trot and I auto fail. I had to train myself to be pinpoint accurate with that crud. Nothing compares, however, to having to replay these mini games during Grunty's Furnace Fun. My favorite stages in the game have to be Treasure Trove Cove and Bubblegloop Swamp while my least favorites are Clanker's Cavern and Rusty Bucket Bay.
Nice to see a video that isn't blind praise for these older games. Often they might throw in a little negative about the graphics or controls, but ignore some of the issues these games have, especially from a modern perspective. They are almost 30 years old now, they do show their age in many aspects. N64 was my first console, but it's hard to go back and play many of the games from that era, let alone complete them, something I think a lot of nostalgic people ignore.
Hey, thanks! I'm doing my best to have a balanced in these videos. Games like this are beloved for a reason, but it's dishonest and unproductive to ignore the clunk I think
i.... um don't like gobi's valley, it's the sand. while BK will always be a classic, my heart stays with tooie forever. i feel it really rewards you for how well you've come to learn the levels and overworld layout. also you don't have to worry about accidentally falling to your death in the final battle!
I grew up with 9 other siblings, my twin sister and I were the experts when it came to these games. If you do a DK64 review I'll have a comment for that video about us beating it.
First off, I enjoy your analyses, looking forward to more. I don't agree with some of your conclusions, but who cares? Not everyone has to agree on everything and hearing different opinions is very interesting. I much prefer Kazooie to Tooie, but it's not objective. Fun video and I'll watch your Banjo Tooie video next. Cheers
the entire premise and visual design of CCW is awesome. but going back and doing that level definitely sucks especially if youre like me who has lost their ability in platforming lol. i was doing a 100% run on stream and i think i died more in CCW than i did in rusty bucket
The Notes issue isnt fully correct. If you miss for example 3 notes, so you can collect in another try to collect only thiese 3 notes. If you accomplish, your score for this level will be also 100 so you dont have to collect the notes you already had.
Its crazy bc i see it the other way around. I love Banjo-Kazooie and like Tooie, bc Tooie is just a little too much. yes the notes part became easier but the amount of backtracking and collecting increased by so much it got annoying for me back in the day.
Why does every Tooie fan always have always have to tell you they think it's better than Kazooie? It feels like some insecurity to keep bringing it up. This was a Banjo Kazooie retrospective and you just had to keep randomly bringing up why Tooie was better. Was very weird and dragged down the video imo (was still good and am about to watch the tooie retrospective after this). I played both for the first time a couple years ago on xbox and thought both were great, but the community for the games divide themselves with how they talk.
I hve to say I disagree about the note collecting. The fix they used in the xbox version is the reason I simply do not enjoy the N64 version of banjo kazooie with the exception being the N64 NSO version that has a built in save state feature. The note score system is absolutely awful and more or less ruins my experience every time I see it. Other than that I love og BK
Rusty bucket bay takes the worst level for me hate the music hate how much you fall and die and the boss fight the music is the most annoying just train whistles
Rusty Bucket Bay is my most hated level, Click Clock Woods is a favorite of mine, I like it way more than Rusty Bucket Bay because of the constant dying inside the Engine Room with the moving platforms.
Just passing by to tell you that I've been binge watching your videos, truly great work
Thanks, that's very kind!
4:24 this is made even worse by the fact that in the cutscene in the end of the game, we see a woman that looks like an adult, and much better than tooty
click clock wood is a great level. people only hate it in hindsight.
I definitely hated it while very much still playing it lol, but yeah I hear a lot of people say they like it. To each their own!
It’s my favorite level
I hated it playing it early on. The penalty for falling is too high(especially N64 NSO). Unless you saved the health from all your enemies, you won't survive more than a couple falls, and you have to scale it 4 times to 100%.
@@Shadowholocaust Thats why you have to be patient while jumping, and perfect the feathery flap.
@@Shadowholocaust That's why I hated it, 4 times the same, large level with extra hinders like gliding because of snow...
Banjo music,S tier.
S+ even
I really liked "Grunty's Furnace Fun", wishing I could go back to play it once I had finished it. I even had a file where I played every square on the board, and as soon as I the last square was completed, I reset the game, so I could play it again.
That's awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it lol
I always wondered if the dragonfly at the beginning was a dig at Spyro
Banjo Kazooie wasn't just a fun game. It's hard to explain, but playing it gave me a good feeling. Especially Click Clock Wood.
I know what you mean! For me it's Treasure Trove Cove
It’s magical- even better if you first experienced it as a child. It’s the video game equivalent of being in Disneyland. Mario 64 went for this, but Banjo nailed it even better.
@@jaymum23 I was 14 when I first played it, but still young enough to feel the magic of this game.
Your video game reviews are pretty solid. Subscribed and enjoyed all I've watched so far, even if I don't always agree!
Thanks! I love hearing from people who disagree but still enjoy my videos!

Id absolutely put clankers cavern as the worst imo
Click clock wood is def in the upper half for me just on design alone.
A lot of people like it, for a lot of good reasons! I'm just not one of them lol
@@ivanavi123 Yes. Fuck the engine room, that jiggy and those 16 notes.
I find a great charm in Rusty Bucket Bay

Had the exact same experience with the notes and the ice on Click Clock Wood.

As can the mummies and skeletons

I agree with most in this video, especially the last statement. Both BK and BT are A class games, but BT is an A+.
you're not alone. I always liked Tooie better than kazooie. I had both games growing up.
As a child I thought Tootie was Vietnamese because her shirt looks like the Vietnam flag ...
Yeah, Tooie definitely improved the move sets by a lot.
Portal 2 a platformer? That's a huge stretch.
It's literally a platformer, a 3D puzzle platformer. There's no other way to describe it in terms of genre.
