    I don't think you'll regret it, in the long term. This is a beautiful, great dress watch, It can last you decades. Timeless. You can always add a sports watch later -- Explorer or OP -- but keep the Datejust for formal or business or special occasions, and make bonds with it.

    • @monarchtimepiececollection
      @monarchtimepiececollection  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, very true. The DJ is timeless. I have a few sport watches already (Submariner and GMT that I’ll do a review on soon). But over true years I feel my taste has evolved a bit and having the santos in my collection kinda fills the void of a dress watch. So who knows what I’ll do with the DJ

    Just as a side note, you can change the dial and hands at Rolex if you want. Since you own that watch for more than 2 years they allow that, it will cost you but you can experiment with different a dial color if you think you made a mistake.

    • @monarchtimepiececollection

      Oh dang you’re right! I hadn’t really given much thought in regards to changing the dial and hands! Something to consider for sure!

    That is an absolutely beautiful classic timepiece. The Roman Numerals and the dial color are understated elegance. I also have a Datejust. And I thought I wanted more bling, so I got the jubilee bracelet, stick indices, and blue dial. Just purchased August 2022. I was replacing one that I had many many years ago - a gold & steel one that I had to sell. Now many years later, I still regretted selling that 80’s model. Funny thing, I already had the Explorer 39, (purchased Jan 2020) and like you, I prefer a no-date watch. However, even at 39 mm, I thought my Explorer was ever so slightly too large, and not dressy enough. I ordered the Datejust, and was going to sell the Explorer. Well, in the interim, Rolex stopped making the Explorer 39, and offered it in 36 only. Prices shot up. And now I won’t sell it for anything. So I have both. And I’m glad I do. As collectors, we are always second-guessing ourselves. And sometimes, we really regret selling our watches. Our tastes change, and then sometimes our tastes change BACK! I say, enjoy them, wear them, and don’t let them sit in the box! Great video!

      Thank you!! And yes I definitely agree with you on our taste evolving and always having that style preference when it comes to certain watches. The configuration you got on the DJ is perfect. I have a gmt on a jubilee and it is the most comfortable watch I have because of the bracelet. Plus I feel it makes the appearance of the watch classier overall. One day I will own the 39mm explorer. I feel like it’s a grail piece for me. I know most people think of Patek or AP as their grail but there’s something about the explorer that is the sweet spot for everything. You have some awesome watches!

      @@monarchtimepiececollection No, YOU have the corner on taste! I bought the stainless & gold, GOLD FACED Datejust once!! Hahahahaha! We all make mistakes; and sometimes our tastes change back. Mine would never revert back to that! LOL! Thanks again!

    Your watch with the white dial and Roman numerals white gold is a timeless classic. I have the exact watch configuration in 41 mm ( my wrist is 7.5”). I only wanted the white dial. It’s timeless. Remember the OP doesn’t offer a fluted bezel which is a Rolex trademark . I also have a datejust 41 blue dial and I still wear my white dial all the time. Enjoy your heirloom and have no regrets .

    • @monarchtimepiececollection

      The iconic flutted bezel what was was drew me to the datejust because of how it plays with the light. It is a very attractive watch, and you’re right. I need to just soak in the realization of the fortune and blessing it is to own any timepiece.

  • @CharmingReality

    Decent, would’ve been better with a jubilee bracelet in my opinion and 41mm is a better option too, depending on your wrist/height. But not a bad datejust

    Do you realize how hard it is to get a DJ with a white Roman dial from an AD?
    The watch as configured is beautiful.

    • @monarchtimepiececollection
      @monarchtimepiececollection  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well now it has become very difficult to obtain but at the time I had about a 3 month wait in order for it to arrive but I honestly hardly ever wear it. It’s a bit too mundane for me now. I’m not trying to sound arrogant or unappreciative of getting it but my interest in watches has changed and I find it hard to justify wearing it when I have other pieces in my collection that appeal more to me now. Thank you for the comment though I love the watch but I don’t know if I will end up keeping it. If you’re interested in the watch let me know and message me on Instagram and maybe we can work something out!

  • @tl7535
    @tl7535 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The Datejust is a classic, but I get what you mean about a clean watch. With a 6.5” wrist, I wear a 34 OP with the white dial and just got the 36 Explorer. Either watch works great as a “one watch” collection, but together they make the perfect two watch collection. Can’t help but think about what to get next though!

    • @monarchtimepiececollection
      @monarchtimepiececollection  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ino the OP and the explorer are better watches than the datejust. They’re just a bit more practical and a perfect definition of “less is more”. I hardly use the date function and tbh I think if I’d go back I’d just get a 39mm explorer and call it a day…but those two watches are great! Congrats! What are you thinking as your next watch? A dress watch? A diver? Gmt?

    • @tl7535
      @tl7535 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I should sit on my two watch collection for a while, but I like the idea of maybe a no-date Sub, or a Pepsi GMT. The GMT is a watch where the date window works along with the other complications.

    • @monarchtimepiececollection
      @monarchtimepiececollection  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tl7535 definitely. The problem with have more than 2 watches is that it becomes a problem rotating through all of them. They won’t get enough wrist time. 2 watches is a perfect amount for several occasions. Throw a few different straps on there and you’re set

      @@monarchtimepiececollection thank you so much. I totally agree with you. I only seriously started looking at them recently but I'm really over the moon. In my mind, they are on level with Omega which is my other favourite brand (just wish their watches were thinner! This IWC is 11mm tall which is my sweet spot for a sports / every day watch)
      P.s that's exactly the DateJust I was after! Lovely dial

      @@Valera_Scotland yes case thickness is an overlooked dimension that most people don’t take into consideration if it’s going to be a daily wear, or something being worn with a suit. It needs to slide under a cuff effortlessly to make it an enjoyable wear. 11mm is the perfect case thickness 👍🏼 and thank you! In my opinion the date function is a practical complication to have, and if I could choose all over again I would have probably gotten the newer oyster perpetual from Rolex instead of the datejust if I wanted a sportier looking watch. If I am going to stick with a datejust I would definitely recommend a blue or black dial with the fluted bezel and the Jubilee band for a classy look.

    Cool video- no offense but the Explorer 36 is garbage, its one of the most boring watches on the market, I had the 39 and got rid of it to get a 42 POLAR, I have bigger wrist. The datejust Roman is pure class, compared to its stunning goes with all occasions. I have the 41 Azzuro Roman Jubilee and absolutely love it. You got the right watch, I would add a Jubilee if you get a chance Rolex will let you buy one and its like you have two different watches.
