In regards to mixed marriages, my grandma is a very good example. When she was a teenager she was dating a young man from another religion and was constantly trying to convert him. She once introduced him to her elderly grandparents, and the first thing her grandpa asked when they were introduced was " Is he Catholic?" My grandma shifted uncomfortably and answered," Not yet." Her grandpa instantly shook his head and made a negative clicking sound with his tongue. A few weeks later, her boyfriend was walking with her and told her that he would do anything for her. But one thing he couldn't do, and that was to genuflect in the Catholic church. After he said that, my grandma never hesitated, she told him straight out. 'Okay then ,we are done.' And she walked away and never turned back. She is now married to my grandpa and is blessed with 5 children and 27 grandchildren❤
I broke up with my husband when we first started dating with a note lol I was 19! I broke his heart but he knew we were meant to be. He let me figure it out and a few months later we got back together a few months later got engaged and a year later were married. We knew we wanted me to stay home and raise our family. We raised three boys on one income, it wasn’t easy but we did it.
A young man and young women can help themselves and their family by living at home and helping around the house and helping aging parents or grandparents. Young women can protect their purity better living at home and can still help their family and pitch in for rent, running errands, etc. The family needs eachother.
Well none of that made me mad. I’m a nurse who cooks, cleans, organizes, and sews! 😆 I do wish there were more woman who sewed though bc it’s a nice hobby to do with friends.
I used to joke that my husband funds me. I always felt like I had it way better than he did because I got to hang out all day with the best people I loved most in the world instead of going into a business dealing with every type of personality and many unpleasant. Better him that me! 😂
I agree about mothers working outside the home should be the exception but with inflation and with men not getting paid a living wage due to competing with the many women in the workforce has increased the need for a second income. Not to build up their savings but to buy groceries and help pay basic bills.
Yes but someone above said a man should at least earn 70.000$ a year. Lol t What can be a great solution is when the woman has skills that permits her to work from the home. That's what I'm planning to develop. Instead of dreaming of rich men , women should plan these solutions and reread the texts from the bible about the qualities of the strong woman. 🙂
Father has a 1950's view of marriage. To survive it takes two incomes especially if the husband doesn't make an average income. Men become ill or disabled and can't work, the wife must support the family. How does she do that with out an education.
Thinking about going to Yag this year for the first time from New York, Fr. Robert Letourneau recommend it a couple years ago but I was very hesitant about it because I’m in my late 20s.
Were there saints (married) who both worked? Saints Zélie and Louis Martin come to mind- Saint Thérèse de Lisieux's parents. I believe her mother worked and had a shop. The children had wet nurses and nannies and still That family is full of saints and holy people. Doesn't the catechism speak about being faithful to one's state in life? And if that state is work (especially for a woman), is it then wrong that she doesn't quit to be at home? I'm not against that practice in life, if someone is called to it. Not at all. However, could you please cite the catechism and give some examples of Saints who speak on marriage and gender roles and what has to be done in regards to that. What does the Church say? I want to be more sure. Another example: Saint Gianna Beretta Molla. She was a doctor and didn't quit her job. Is sainthood only attainable for married women if they don't work? If they do work it would be a type of betrayal to their vocation?
I am not sure I agree with man living alone- especially in todays technology world. Porn addiction is the isolation disease. I definitely recommend for a young man to live with family or holy friends over living alone.
Here is an issue for young men and their parents. If they move out ASAP, they cannot further their education to obtain that occupation to support a large family of their own. We would like to see our son move out and onward when the time comes (and he would too), but we don't fund our kid's college expenses. To pay living expenses, etc... Just can't do it.
They can further their education at the same time with part time jobs. My parents were at university in a completely different country. I on the other hand stayed with my parents way too long and it stunted my maturity and ability to be self-sufficient and independent and ability to plan financially and make good financial decisions. The sooner learned the better. If kids stay too long with their parents, they don't mature well, actually. It's like a perpetual adolescence.
Checklist for men before considering marriage: Do not be in debt. Get a stable job that can support a family (at least 70,000$ salary). Acquire good home economics skills (fixing things, basic cooking, managing money). Eliminate bad habits, take GOOD care of yourself, and develop virtue. Anything I should add?
Be a Catholic (and look for a spouse who will also be Catholic), love your faith and the liturgy, pray the Rosary, keep out the poison of evil and sin and worldliness, particularly immodesty, and foster the love of God through good reading and a love of the spiritual life in your children more than a love of money, fame and popularity which comes to a speedy end when we pass from this world. Have nothing to do with Hollywood, the music industry and the media, and their evil Freemasonic agenda to destroy souls.
I gave it some thought for quite a few days before returning to this comment. My comment here would not only be regarding your comment Ryan but I am speaking generally and merely using your well-intentioned comment as an example. You made some good points for sure, but regarding imposing new laws for marriage eg. "at least $70 000 salary", aside from the laws of the Church and of the Gospels, I think is very unwise for any of us to do. If they are merely suggestions, it may be okay, but to make it a rule would be wrong. It is quite possible Our Lady would not have been allowed to marry St Joseph if such a rule existed and then the Incarnation would never have taken place. There are quite a number of suggestions that get made by lay people and even good priests that get made into, can I say, kind of "laws" in people's minds. We have enough laws from Christ and from the Church and any new "laws of men" will only cause anguish to those wishing to receive a Sacrament which they have no reason to be barred from. 1 Corinthians Chapter 7 verse 2 is also law, as is "the lilies of the field". Whilst marriage on a shoestring budget is darned difficult, and young people should be seriously warned as to what may be ahead of them, I have never seen a married couple starve to death in a Western country. Many of the saints were no stranger to poverty and its benefits.
Money # shouldn't be the main focus but the the discipline and knowledge of Money management is more important to have by both persons with the traditional catholic faith being the most important focus.
Do not marry a career woman nor a woman who lived in a college dorm. Men must be independent & living on their own at 18/19. I didn't have parents so this is advice to any young Man reading this msg. Secular women are graduating college in large numbers & not marrying. Our society is not reproducing.
With what money are they supposed to live on their own , being only 18 or 19 yo? Such young men can very well learn to take care of themselves and still live at their parents home. Mothers just have to teach them how to make laundry , clean their room and cook what's necessary. Oh but wait, some people will say that's not what men are supposed to learn.
@@madeleineformelle The best idea I've seen yet, is for 18 or 19 year olds to go to technical school and learn a trade, so they can support themselves. We're I live plumbers and electricians make more than a college grad....from a B.S degree program.
@@david-nt3cz but if their vocation doesn't permit them to go to a technical school... if they have the vocation to become, idk, lawyer, doctor, anything that requires long studies ...
@@madeleineformelle So think about this. If no one becomes a doctor, lawyers, teachers etc, how does she this society and provide care to those who need it?

What harm is there in constant getting to know new people? Heartbreak. It hurts. When you do get attached, it hurts. It can indeed be a big deal.
Wait...Father has a "the Man, the Myth, the Legend" mug??? Awesome!!
This was excellent. So so many good points.
God bless and thank you from Sochi Russia 🙏

Yes the thats the problem unless you are quite wealthy it's hard to live with one income

That's right. And women have always worked, just not the same way they do today.

YAG is a wonderful great idea and gathering.
YES! My friend is 29 and he went. Most people are in their mid to late 20s
I have a strong will and idea of how SOME things should be done, but that doesnt mean i dont need a man to guide me in important topics. (49th minute)
