    5:21 - This board looks as though it's been the victim of a drive by shooting - Brilliant!!!!
    You are an absolute natural and I find your videos truly entertaining, but actually refreshing in that its all about advice from someone's experience and put out there, warts and all, for us all to take advantage from. Not everyone is a natural DIY'er so well done for having a go!!

      DABroke, thanks v👍ery much for such a nice comment. I always say I'll have a go and it usually doesn't end well but it's good to share the experience. Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment. It really is appreciated.

    I really thought your ineptness was an act 😂 after two days of trying to teach you computer stuff and seeing this I realised it isn’t 😂 I think you know where to stick that torch mate 😘

    Hi Ian, I did something like this in our Autotrail 669 (similar van) in a non destructive way and raised the bed up so we could get our electric bikes in. Since then I have put it all back as standard and chopped it in for a Motorhome.

    • @TravellingfromScratch
      @TravellingfromScratch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting Ian. I try to make the van more suitable for my needs but have to admit I would love the space of a motorhome. Maybe when I retire and have more time to travel. 👍

    Another great video Ian, as commented below if you place the ply on a flat piece of scrap wood you will prevent the burst out on the reverse side, also a little less pressure on the drill. Have a work with your chippy mate to see if something like a 50mm hole saw could recover the damage by having larger holes - as long as you're not jumping on it the ply will still be strong enough. Keep up the great work

    • @TravellingfromScratch
      @TravellingfromScratch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Tim. I have a spare piece of ply so I will be doing the job again. I hate it when things look messy but I love it when a plan comes together. Back to the drawing board. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it...and the advice. 👍

    Great idea, good to see the pitfalls not just the perfect finish. A tip for drilling through wood, place your work flat on top of a piece of scrap timber and drill through and until you reach the second piece. It stops the breakout on the reverse side.

      Thanks Lee. Wise words indeed. If only I had known last week. I'm learning loads since starting this channel. I'll be an expert one day if I live long enough. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate the advice and the comment. 👍

    Very entertaining Ian, did wonder whether the doors were going to be out back on, plywood a nightmare to drill ,I had the same problem recently on a project

      Hi Colin. I'm really happy with the extra storage and the cupboard fronts. The bed board...not so much. I will redo it and take on board the advice I have been given by other people. Hopefully I will make a better job of it next time. I'm not the best at DIY and there are a lot of jobs I want to do that I wont attempt to tackle due to lack of confidence and ability but I will keep trying. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. It really does help the channel grow and I appreciate it.

    Hi Ian,a good idea for your bed would be to use a product call dry mat.
    It's a mesh springy mat used designed to go under matreses in boats etc.Just buy a sheet on amazon £69 then cut to size and fit it under your mattress,stops mound and condensation by giving circulation between the slats and the mattress.Looking forward to your vid on it.😉

    • @TravellingfromScratch
      @TravellingfromScratch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great tip. I'm off to have a look at it on Amazon. Sounds great. 👍

    Always drill onto a solid base of scrap wood, that'll stop the back breaking out 👍

    • @TravellingfromScratch
      @TravellingfromScratch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I will definitely be doing that when I remake the board to go under the bed. At the moment it's too cold out there so I am staying indoors. Thanks for the advice though. If only I had known earlier! 🤣👍

    Hi Rick,,,, On my Elddis i turned the Blinds upside down ,,, 4 x screws into original holes & blinds then open from top to bottom giving you more privacy 👍

      Is this message meant for me. If it is I don't understand. If you're thinking of Rick from Pearl the CV20 I'm way better looking than him. Even with the facial hair!

    • @kennorth6958
      @kennorth6958 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When u wake up or going dark in dining area you can have the blinds half up from the bottom pulling upwards & add to privacy

    • @RickandHeather
      @RickandHeather 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kennorth6958 would you not just pull the blackout all the way down and then pull the fly screen half way? We do that so bottom is blind top is fly?

      Sharon...please.....you're gonna have people saying I took DIY advice from a girl. Only kidding.... I will try to do better next time. I really am that bad at DIY. I always say it's because I don't have the right tools but in reality I'm just crap. I have taken on board all the comments and advice and hope to fix the problem. Thanks for the comment....and the advice..(Don't tell anyone about the advice) 👍😘

    Hi good vid fella, you've prob covered this in previous vids, but did you consider getting fixed bed in first place?

    • @TravellingfromScratch
      @TravellingfromScratch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Christopher. Thanks for the comment. Good question. I did consider a fixed bed and would have been a better option for me really. I bought the cv40 because I wanted the third bed for my grandson and didn't really look around because I fell for the cv40 when I saw it and the price was ok. Didn't want a pop top as I think they are no good in the wind. Maybe a future campervan or motorhome will come with a fixed bed but for now I love the CV40. 👍
