    I always liked the idea of a bio-ship that splits into a ton of tiny insectoid ships and attaches itself to the hull of another ship, then vibrates like bees killing a wasp and basically microwaves the ship to death

    I understand the reason Tyranids don's focus on their battles in the void/space, but the reality is that because ships are expensive to build, they do have some biomass present, both in the crew and the supplies to keep the crew alive.
    As a result, I think it would be interesting for the 'Nids to develop what would essentially be a giant stomach. This would be designed for after an opposing ship has been crippled. The 'Nids that are still functioning from the boarding party retreat, and the shell of a space vessel would be encased in the "space stomach". The vessel would then be flooded with stomach acid. This would serve as a simple way to reclaim the biomass of the crippled residents, both friend and foe, that remains on the ship.

    I had a chaos army back in the day and I actually started a custom chapter that was based around killing nids. My commander was a sister of battle corrupted by Khorne. She had terminator armor and a have tyrant head as a helmet. I had a Stat sheet with specials for each unit type. My commander had an unmodified field save granted to her by the hivr tyrant head she used as helmet. It only worked on a roll of 6 but it was still there. It also gave me that ability to sense where all the nids were on the battlefield. So they could not camouflage or anything against me.

    Hearing that snake part. What if a tendril of the swarm has a literal "tendril ship". Imagine the ultimate form of Tyranic life, an organic blood vessel stretching for millions of light years, an organism so huge it's capable of bending spacetime as a function of its internal organ, pumping hive fleets internally from one point of intergalactic space into another, much like the Driver Ants use their own army to create a secure and protected living highway for the swarm to move from point A to point B.

    • @OneMindSyndicate
      @OneMindSyndicate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I read in the 5th edition tyranid codex that that is how they think the nids were able to survive traveling through the space between galaxies. And the narval is a tyranid ship that bend spacetime so this is very plausible.

    • @BlueKatanaWarrior
      @BlueKatanaWarrior 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are also worm-like creatures that only have their retractable mouths visible on/inside Tyranid ships. The rest is in the Warp, and they are used to transfer organisms quickly around and/or between ships. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of it off the top of my head though..

    • @Galejro
      @Galejro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BlueKatanaWarrior Yeah, the Narwhals, but I keep thinking of them as more microscopic transports. Narwhals move individual fleets from point A to more or less point B. But on Tyrranid scale a Hive Fleet is just a tiny object compared to the allegations Tyrranid cloud is bigger than the milky way galaxy. So this would call for a macroscopic transport organism to not move the fleet in between starsystems, but in between galaxies.

    Video idea: How do all tyranid bioforms reproduce and/or evolve over time? Not just the Norn queens, but for example how do gaunts lay eggs or rippers evolve into larger creatures? If a single ripper was left alone on a planet with lots of biomass and nobody killed it, could it eventually grow and reproduce until a small hive was born? Lots of other similar sci fi races could win in a similar scenario like Zerg or the Flood, so interested in if a similar scenario is winnable for just a little Tyranid creature on its own without a Norn Queen? If not without a synapse creature then maybe with a warrior etc?
    For next month I’d like a Drukhari December, let’s ruin Christmas 😈

    • @ThatZenoGuy
      @ThatZenoGuy ปีที่แล้ว

      Gaunts can lay eggs, it's occurred in canon. But it's not as common as norn queens proving the eggs.

  • @sonofangron2969
    @sonofangron2969 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    My head-canon bio-ship is that, in the centre-mass of the Tyranids travelling through the intergalactic void (and thus still to enter the Milky Way) are gargantuan bio-ships large enough and specifically designed to consume, crush and sift for all available minerals and biomass both moons and non-gas giant planets; thereby leaving no stone unturned when it comes to completely stripping a galaxy of its biomass and leaving nothing but the dust of primeval creation in its wake...

    • @OneMindSyndicate
      @OneMindSyndicate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ultimately I assume that is what the tyranids will have to do, consume the very planet itself. Great idea

    • @flindude2681

      One very good story which was more of a horror story instead of the usual guning heros, was of a large space station facing a creature of insane size that just moved towards it while they were horrified at size, it opening mouth, and swalwoing the whole structure. all sensors going black, then them feeling the buckling of the strucuture and finaly a gush green acid flowing in that just dissolved people one by one.
      It is inefficient for getting biomass i imagine its 100 parts of non-biomass for each biomass, but rule of cool it should be cannon.

    *Tyranid Sylph*
    I always felt that, as the Tyranids encounter the speed and range advantage of the Imperium (and several other races), they'll adapt to create a bio-engineered jet engine. Something that would use a gas injection mixture to create an explosive force, contained, directed, and ignited by its bio-electric pulse spasm chambers the Tyranids already have.
    In this way, the Tyranids could have smaller ships in similar size and role as a heavy bomber that is capable of accelerating far from the fleet on a flank and then accelerate back, so that enemies could be engaged while the rest of the fleet slowly moves on to target. In atmosphere, such bio-ships would make use of drinking in the atmosphere to continually propel themselves (though less maneuverable) as subsonic but very fast, maybe even supersonic speeds that don't rely on flapping wings or gliding.
    I'd call it the Sylph, a word defined as: _"one of a race of supernatural beings supposed to inhabit the air."_

    Question: I apologize for the length. I'm not sure if it's a theory floating around already but to accompany a question from a previous video of "can the Tyranids create a chaos god". What if the great devourer is the oldest god of greed and gluttony (the Tyranids force being so large as hunger is the most primative feeling of life) Made manifest in another galaxy and was successful at consuming where it had originated, left without biomass (biomass treated as a physical connection to reality as blood and bone is to korne) it starved losing power and developed the shadow of the warp to break the chains that tied it to the immaterium setting free it's hunger on the universe (It's tendrils and broods being a piece of itself as demons are to the chaos gods). Thoughts? Also why not drukhari December?

    Question: Could the Tyranids use orks to creat farms to have a limitless bio mass. Example could be like the Tyranids take over a planet and kill an Ork on it releasing it's spors, the Tyranids then let it grow to become a grechin or Ork and then kill it before it can fight back for bio mass and releasing more spors in the prosses. Do this on large scale like an entire planet as a biomass farm and the Tyranids could become even more unstoppable.

    • @kingtonsiljockey528
      @kingtonsiljockey528 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      ...sounds like a walkthrough for Minecraft lol that being said, I don't know, if there are many orks, they collectively become stronger. Maybe they could have internal farms for their "Bio Ships" as a snack farm. I don't think lingering on one planet to make an ork farm would be worthwhile though. It would be like getting a woman pregnant just to eat the baby, just too much resource and time for such little benefit...sadly, YES, that was the best example I could think of @m@

      I doubt the hive mind is interested in doing anything outside consuming the entire universe until the only biomass that exists is Tyranid. Even then, I think the different hive fleets would attempt to consume eachother until nothing is left. It is their nature.

    Never played any 40K but i love the lore and hearing about it, the "biomass" of the Tyranids is it just a big blob of stuff or is it sentient and part of the hivemind ? ( my bio-ship would be a ship that latches onto another lets say an Ironclad and drills a hole into it and slowly pumps it full of acid disolving everything inside)

    • @-AxisA-
      @-AxisA- ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not Canon, but I think when in not use the bio-mass is not sentient, but all of the bio-mass is connected always to the hive-mind, so if the hive-mind needs a Carnifex it can Immediatly make a Carnifex out of the bio-mass that's available to it.

    NIDVEMBER SUGGESTION: Tyranids aren't bugs. They're six limbed alien dinosaurs from another galaxy. White Dwarf 306 (June 2005) has an article with Jes Goodwin about the evolution of the models and the Tyranids. To quote "Even the name gives a clue. Tyran doesn't just relate to the planet on which the race was first encountered - it is also meant to conjure mental images of beasts such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex"

    I’m thinking there should be some sort of terrains bioship just for space hulks. Maybe it attaches to the space hulk and grows some sort of membrane around the entire space hulk dropping anchor roots as it goes so it isn’t easy to cut it free from the space hulk. Once the space hulk is completely engulfed the membrane balloon fills with acid liquid or gas dissolving everything organic on the space hulk into biogoo that can be sucked up to help fuel and grow the hive fleet. Meanwhile the continues on its way with the space hulk engulfed inside it. Once a planet that puts up a fight is encountered the ship and the space hulk within it will plunge into the planet devastating hundreds or thousands of square miles from its impact into the planet’s surface.
    This sort of bioship could also mop up disabled enemy ships after battles.

    What is the range of the hive mind connection? I realize the hive follows the highest strength signal which is directly correlated to the number and concentration of organisms but is communication transmission from one tyranid bioform across say interstellar distances possible? Is the hive aware of the fate of any particular gene stealer or is the movement of the hive fleet purely instinctual based on the signal strength generated by the tyrannic multitudes?

      Its surprisingly short, on the tabletop a creature is out of synapse if they are 12 or 24 inches away I can't really remember but the shit distance is why so many synapse creatures exist, they act like a modem router.

    -Space Marines and Necrons are already covered extensively on this and other channels so naturally it leaves maybe Eldars, Drukhari are popular and have fun lore, I am Necron fan so I kind of cry Necrons won't be next but it wouldn't make sense

      @@OneMindSyndicate I would like Necrons however I am filled to the brim with Necrons lore (since all lore channels covered them extensively since they are cover boys of 9th).
      However if you would find some obscure or highly sought for lore on Necrons I instantly watch it ;)
      (also in old 'For the Greater Waghh' you stayed that full C'tans have no chance vs Chaos Gods, I am not so sure since neither can "kill" other) Outsider is still there :)

    Thinking of New bio forms for nids is a fun hobby. One of my favorites is what I call a “matriarch” instead of a genestealer patriarch. It works kind of the same but instead of banging a genestealer, the matriarch emits pheromones that makes the nearby population super horny, experiencing a boom of girls born in the population. The pheromones also insert certain genes to continue the population boom, sometimes forcing puberty at an earlier age than what they would normally see. Hiking up the likelihood of pregnancy, and the birthing rate, more biomass for the nids. It also forces that planet to dial back on war gear, instead it makes feeding its growing population the highest priority, meaning less defenses the nids will encounter.

    I like battlefeet gothic games in general but the ship design for tyranid ships is meh, they have one design/body type that is reused that I dont like i, 5:01 has example of art showing more interesting variety of ships and design.

    Yeah snake or worm is a decent body design but needs a gross way to kill, likespitting its guts out all over ships then slurping them back in like a flatworm. Or spider form which latches on then enters it's proboscis, pumps the ship full of digestive enzimes sucks it dry and leaves a empty husk floating in space 🤔
