    The Tyranids, the whole shadow in the warp always gives me goosebumps. This whole idea of knowing they’re coming and what that means but not being able to call for help or even leave is just eerily scary.
    I always hoped the silent king would possibly be able to overpower them with the Necrons. They don’t have biomass to feed them, they Canberra rebuild in their tombs. The Tyranids would only have losses of biomass in fights with the Necrons. But I see the points made here.
    And wouldn’t the Gods intervene at some point? Could Tyranids destroy Slaanesh? Nurgle?
    Ok. I see your point is the Necrons wouldn’t unite? But what if the silent king would achieve this? What if he decides that the Tyranids can’t be allowed to destroy all other races? He has a moral code after all. What if at least the Xenos races would unite? I see humans probably wouldn’t because they’re indeed xenophobic but maybe the others could?

      Uniting is the only way the first hive fleet was defeated and the silent king did have a truce with the blood angels when they encountered the nids but I don’t see a full scale alliance anytime soon. Remember that the great rift is still a big problem for the necrons so their resources have to go after two big threats

      The Iron Warriors have made a version of the Obliterator virus that they used to take over a bioship, so it would not be outside the realm of possibility for nurgle to concoct something bad.

      The Tyranids can actually digest the Necrons as there are metal eating monsters out there so that's not the issue. It's just that it would cost them more than it's worth because of the Necron weapons and their effect.
      Yes, the Tyranids can, in a sense, destroy the Chaos gods. The thing is they dont have souls to corrupt and no blood either, so the Chaos gods get almost nothing. Khorn can get there Skulls and Nurgle can, for a while, infect them till they evolve to counter it but if the Tyranids devour the galaxy then there will be nothing left for the Chaos gods to corrupt and no souls to feed on. They could, in a sense, die. The Shadow in the Warp also could have an effect on the Rift and maybe even the Eye of Terror itself someday.
      As for unifying together all of it would be temporary at best. Eldar could, and have, fought alongside Humens before and even their darker kin against the Tyranids. Orks only care about a good fight. Tau would "For the Greater Good" but their presence in the galaxy is small. The Necrons aren't united, and each Dynasty will do what it wants.

    I don’t remember where I heard this, but I know that the Tyranids were the reason the Silent King returned from hiding. The Silent Kings goal is to return the Necron to mortal flesh. He needs to accumulate a lot of bio mass to experiment with and simultaneously eradicate the tyranids to ensure that they don’t fall prey to them as well.

    The Tau as they currently are are too small to win, but I think they’d put up a better fight than most factions. The controlled breeding GW was forced to add to their lore because so many fans didn’t think they were grimpara enough makes it nearly impossible for genestealers to emerge in any significant numbers. There are a number of their planets that are heavily defended with mostly automated weaponry which means that any attack on such planets would cause the tyrannids to burn through a lot of biomass before even getting close to replacing it.

    • @micheal5973
      @micheal5973 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah the tau are still not able to make use of true warp travel making any reinforcment of a planet practically impossible and they are still lacking in any real void superiority capability which is the key to stopping a nid invasion. On top of that because of their small territory losing even the minor non sept worlds that arn’t as heavily defended and are basically mining outpost etc will hit them hard

    I could have sworn the Silent King was rallying against the Tyranid threat. I also think Chaos could do very well against the Tyranids. The population of humans in the Eye of Terror is very large. After reading the Death Guard Codex, it talked about how Mortarion wanted each of his Plague Companies to be 77,000 strong in terms of Plague Marines, and this was his ambition before the Heresy. The Eye of Terror after the Great Rift is way larger and more populous, The Black Legion, Wordbearers and Alpha Legion all have insane numbers of Chaos Marines, (and cultists and daemons to boot) So not only would chaos be a great meal for the Nids, but Chaos could also give the Tyranids a great fight. I do agree that that the Orks would benefit from war with the Tyranids, whereas all other races (except Necrons) would face a brutal war of attrition.

    I've always wondered if the tyranids could potentially develop the ability to incorporate necrodermis, since they seem to be able to adapt to everything else. Then they'd just be roaming parts for armor and whatnot

    • @OneMindSyndicate
      @OneMindSyndicate  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t seem likely that the nids need necrdermis. They already have self generative abilities and their foot soldiers are also not meant to be indestructible because they also are consumed at the end of an invasion.

    One potential counter-point on the Tau. The greatest limitation of the Tau is interstellar travel, due to their lack of access to the Warp. The Tyrranid method of interstellar travel doesn't make any use of the Warp. If the Tau can use drones to properly observe the process of gravitic manipulation the Tyrranids use to jump systems, they could use that themselves. Now, a wave of Tau constantly expanding into a hostile galaxy with a wave of 'Nids right behind them isn't exactly a success strategy, but there's one place the Tau might be able to jump that would be safer: BEHIND the 'Nid fleet. Behind the fleet is nothing but biologically barren worlds that should be of no interest to the Tyrranid fleets. The Tau could set up domes, artificial biospheres, use fusion to produce more organic elements and make organic materials. By the time the Tyrranid are through with enough of the rest of the galaxy to turn back, the Tau could feasibly have developed into a true galactic power that could genuinely challenge the Tyrranids.
    That's a thin razor to survive through, but it's possible.

    I've been a Tyranid player for thirty years, so I'm kinda behind the bug boys.
    Here's my completely unsupported perspective.
    The Aeldari webways would feel like holes in the hive mind as it moves forward. It would be driven to close them. It would evolve creatures specifically to penetrate and close down the webway. it would be the next generation of Chronos. It would be specifically anti-Aeldari and very specifically anti-Drukhari.
    As for the Necrons. I don't think they even register to the hive mind. No organic presence and no presence to inhibit the pressure of the hive minf in the warp.
    Once the Tyranids are done with the galaxy, they would move on, leaving the necrons untouched in an otherwise desolate galaxy.

    • @OneMindSyndicate
      @OneMindSyndicate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with your theory about the necrons, funny enough that was going to be my original solution to the necron threat but I figured it wouldn’t make for a good video. Could you elaborate on the Eldar theory

    • @justintaylor3044
      @justintaylor3044 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but this directly conflicts with the necrons wanting to return to fleshy bodies. This can’t happen if the tyranids eat everything meaning at some point the necrons are going drop their egos and directly wage war against the tyranids. I doubt the necrons will let the tyranids watch them destroy themselves without first getting rid of the tyranids.
      Considering the sheer god level technologies the necrons developed in the war in heaven, They’ll have no difficulty inventing anti-synapse technologies that shit on the hivemind itself.
      However we all know that can’t happen, at least not smoothly. It’s like everything in 40k is dumb EXCEPT the tyranids. Which is funny because they’re the 40k equivalent of the end-times.

    • @justintaylor3044
      @justintaylor3044 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As for the anti-aeldari/drukhari tyranids, they wouldn’t really have a way to invade the web-way because that’s a technological advancement. Unless you mean they make specialised tyranids to penetrate and close down the existing portals.

    • @arespaulson414
      @arespaulson414 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justintaylor3044 Necrons: I was talking about the Necrons from the Tyranid perspective. I'm pretty sure the necrons don't plan on using other species' bodies for their reincarnation. So, they have to get new bodies from somewhere. They'd be able to use their technology to build new organic forms after the passing of the swarm, why would they need humans or tau to build new necrontyr bodies? And.. where are they going to get the souls which will inhabit them? Neither of these require other species.
      I like the new meta with the Silent King possibly teaming up with Imperium to meet the swarm. But the necrons don't have a presence in the warp. This is what the hive mind 'feels'. It sees in real space with many eyes, and it feels in the warp with a singular presence. The necrons really should be able to wait it out and rebuild anew. Just wait another 65 million years and then begin evolution again.

    • @arespaulson414
      @arespaulson414 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justintaylor3044 Webways: an ancient, other-dimensional system that is neither within real or warp space. It exists as connected points in real space, and although this is not really supported in the meta, I believe it exists as monodimensional threads in warp space.
      If you permit these threads, then these will appear to the hive mind as blank lines within the hive mind's shadow. Blank lines out of which occasionally pop Eldar, the brightest-shining of all the lives in the galaxy.
      The hive mind would become very interested in these dark threads that penetrate it.
      And yes. They would grow new tyranid creatures just to find and explore the webway and consume the especially shiny biomatter hidden within.
      In a galaxy of living metal soull-stolen androids and sentient fungus with instinctual psychic powers, there is absolutely no reason why a bioconstruct cannot be created that could not just find and enter the webway, but even be a living analogue of a webway portal.

    I agree the Tyranids are generally a favourite for a endgame scenario, it's true their unfathomable number is a drive for them, but they do have other tactics and methods, they can create uprisings and know importance of weakening a foe before the kill. So for their savage appearance, there is a great level of cunning, cruel, but cunning from these creatures.
    I think nids vs necrons is problematic in just getting them to fight each other. The nids may be pushed to finding them to hunt but necons could just (after kidnapping or taking whatever it is that's needed for the planned restoration) sleep it out in a tomb deep beneath the ground.
    It's doubtful the Tyranids could find some dynasty that is willing to hide it out for even half a million years, by than the nids would have long gone. I think it's because Necorns can play the waiting game it's why they be so stubborn for the nids unless they find a way to deal with this rather mundane approach by the necrons.

    Most of all, they've gotta watch the heck out for Nurgle. Madlad can just make a new horrific disease every time they gain immunity to the previous one, and their destruction of things he feeds off gives him all the incentive to wreck them. Then again he also wants a stagnant galaxy or something like that, and a galaxy stripped of all life seems pretty stagnant to me.

    • @glassknife3383

      They could use nurgle as an arms dealer. The Nid’s ranged weapons mainly use acid and disease. The more they can take from nurgle the stronger their ranged weaponry can get. Maybe to the point where they can liquify all biomass from orbit exterminatus-style, and then just slurp all the fluids and leave. No initial losses, and processing that could take years could be cut down to a week at most. This would boost their efficiency so high that they could probably overpower the orks.

  • @evilspoon5280

    The eldar might be able to build a psychic weapon that targets the psychic connection between all tyranid, in essence, an anti telepath weapon that fries all tyranid telepaths. If you could effect a large enough group of the tyranids in this fashion they would not be able to do much as they require the hive mind to function in almost every way. Without it the feral tyranid that require the hive mind to control them and suppress their feral natures would fail and many would turn on each other as much as any other threat.
    In my opinion only the much more intelligent, psyker type tyranids generate the psychic shadow in the warp, the ferals that are controlled by it do not contribute to it. So if the eldar could create a psychic weapon that directly attacks the tyranid psynapse creatures, the tyranid could be beaten, and adapting to such an attack would be near impossible because the attack is not something biological evolution would be able to counter. A chink in the tyranids armor if you will.

      @@evilspoon5280 Most Eldar are have psychic abilities and Tyranids have the shadow in the warp. So the anti-synaptic weapon should be activated when the nids are still in space traveling to the craftworld but this would need a great weapon with lot of range. Eldar can't defeat the nids but they can make something like a bugspray.

    • @glassknife3383
      @glassknife3383 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way the shadow of the warp works is because it has so many creatures psychically connected. It essentially functions as radio static in the amount of incomprehensible screeching. So eliminating specific psycher nids wouldn’t affect the shadow as much as you’d think. Also it’s not just the psycher nids that are psynapse creatures. All of the larger forms like hive tyrants are used as proxies. Also you can look at how Broods work to see that even if the hive mind was decentralized, it would break into different factions which would merge back together either willingly or just through eating each other enough which could make them stronger as they evolve to fight an ever evolving enemy.

    Figure, if the Nids manage to make a Chaos being, though unlikely, that would spell the downfall for chaos and the elder. I think the nids themselves are becoming a pseudo-Chaos God. They’re already called “the great devourer” their shadow in the warp nullifies all escape and communication through the immateriem. Even if they can’t find a way to evolve to eat chaos energy, they could creat specific bio forms to mimic chaos demons in ability and purpose.

    With Ant colonies that leave the main colony, the become genetically different over time then end up at war with each other. I am suprised the Tyranids don't end up in a giant battle between Hive Fleets. When they get to a certain size they end up splitting into factions, for example, because the singular consciousness can't control so many bioforms. Or some grouos of bioforms split off from the main hive mind. Again fighting with each other. Is this possible? Tyranids are so OP.
