  • High input lag is terrible for fighting games, especially games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Therefore, I've decided to replace the Arcade1Up factory monitor with a Dell e1715s. While some individuals have previously upgraded their cabinets with this monitor, there is a lack of comprehensive information on the installation process and potential challenges. In this guide, I aim to provide a slightly more detailed walkthrough to help others tackle this installation and addressing any issues that will arise.
    Also, shoutout to ‪@DannyWelch‬ for his video tutorial as I pretty much used his method but I wanted to see how his method could be applied to the MVC2 cabinet!
    Please "like", "comment", "share" & "subscribe" it helps me a ton!!

    next mod. remove it from the bezel again. get some black gaffer tape and carefully cover that metal edge on the monitor. put it back together. no distracting metal frame look! VOILA!

      Oh yeah! I'll absolutely do that in the next video since I have to go back in when I swap out the marquee.

    If you’re using the original controller board you probably have the same ms input delay on the replacement screen.

      I'm using Sanwa buttons and Sanwa JLX joysticks on the board, there is a huge difference when I play the game now. Night and day difference compared to when I used it with the older monitor. Everything feels smoother and just plain better. You just have to try it out yourself!

      @@MarkoMotley I mean the monitor controller board.

      @@RetroTuna I'd still have to respectfully disagree, the specs on the e1715s are totally different from the BOE. The direct connections go into the display, and the control board. If I used let's say a geekworm with a bigger monitor upgrade, then yeah I would agree that the Input delay would be affected. But either way, it does feel faster and better on screen compared to what I had before.

      @@MarkoMotley I was just wondering, well if it feels better job done. It’s amazing how meany of them monitors we scrapped in my job it’s probably around 3000 I not kidding.

      @@RetroTuna No worries brother maybe I should have used better footage of testing it. But that's crazy 3000 of them?! I guess I can see why it looks like it's a common office monitor

    14ms is (just) less than a frame, so that monitor's probably the fastest part of the a1up already. I wonder if it was measured, or a panel mfg claim. I'd also question the Dell's 5ms since the circuitry that drives it was left behind. (I honestly don't know what portion of the lag comes from the panel vs signal processing) It's a pretty academic discussion. On the face of it, this mod seems to gain one frame 2/3 of the time, on a system that's probably gaining lag via its peripheral bus, software emulator, framebuffer(?), etc.

      All good points, so possibly! But it does genuinely feel better and reactions between what's being communicated from the buttons to the screen are definitely faster and feel more responsive when I play it now.

      @@MarkoMotley yeah, this one's really given me a lot to think about. I've probably been thinking over a 6 min video for the last 45 min 🤣

    • @MarkoMotley
      @MarkoMotley  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No it's not a bigger screen it's the same size as the factory one. But it has a much better response time than the factory monitor.

      @@MarkoMotley can a bigger screen with better response be switched in?

    • @MarkoMotley
      @MarkoMotley  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@murrieta49 yeah a bigger screen with better response can be put in, but you'll have to buy extra stuff like special brackets for the bigger monitor to fit as well as a geekworm board to display the image from the big monitor. I was going for a simple swap in this video.

      @MarkoMotley  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's the same size as the factory screen, but that 5 m/s of input lag can't be beat since it's ideal for fighting games.
