Good morning, Rod. I enjoyed your video today. I actually blew on the screen to clear the dust on your watch so I could see the time. That is about the same as the time I put two fingers on the page of a book to zoom in to read the finer print. Very cool salt and pepper mills, interesting action. The scripture is most fitting. All the best to you, Brother. S/F
Another good video.. I ALWAYS enjoy your voice over commentary and especially your suggested scriptures. So many men tend to hide their Christian beliefs, GOD bless you for standing firm!!!
I want a set, too! These would be so handy for cooking . . . One handed grinding! Absolutely love them!! Missed your voice. Love your voiceovers! Amen to your Bible verse, and Semper Fi!
Not much to say. All the adjectives have been used already. So about all I can add is that I like them. 👍👍Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe. 🙂🙂
The Bible verse really fit the video! And also today. I have thought about doing a salt and pepper grinder but haven't gotten around to a set. Great finish.
Oh my goodness I wish I could do that Rod You never cease to amaze me My friend that is so Kool Sir. may God bless you and your Family Rod and keep you safe Semper Fi.
We have a couple sets of salt and pepper grinders. This is the first time I have seen a set that operates by pushing down on a plunger. A rather simple turning project, but very elegant. I will be on the lookout for a set that operates like these do.
If I had to fault them at all, Bill. it would be that there's no adjustment for the grind level. They're coarse grind only, but they do that very well, so far 😊 & Yep, thanks Uncle Moe!
Those are Gorgeous! I don't blame your wife one bit, I'd have done the exact same thing! Lol! Hope you both have a Great Weekend and Take Care and Good Bless! Stay Well my Friend! And that is the perfect food for thought with this wood turning!🧂🥰🙏
Great choice using maple for salt and walnut for pepper. Different woods yet they still match due to the style. And, of course, everything you make defaults to being your wife's unless and until she officially releases the item. It makes for a smooth-running household.
Nice job Ron. I was checking the notes to see if you mentioned were you purchased them, and saw you're in IN. I lived a little further north in Fort Wayne for 20 years before I moved to sunny AZ.
Rod those are awesome man! Great gift idea for Christmas. Im trying to knock out all my gifts early this year from oak around my property instead of doing it a couple days before Christmas 🤣
Thank you! I drilled a little over halfway through and then flipped the wood and went in from the other direction. Important to have a nice square chunk or the hole could go offset. Should have recorded that action... Woodcraft was my source
Great job on those 2 mills. I have the same one and hope my turnings turn out as well as yours. Could I ask you what you used to mount the blank to the headstock after you had drilled the holes?
Very nice. I did a kit like that (set in a figured walnut base) different brand. Sold immediately, but the customer said the mechanism wouldn't grind full peppercorns, needed to start with a course grind pepper, then the mechanism would grind it finer. Your kit appeared to have a better mechanism, I'll have to give it a try. Wes @ Piedra Designs
These do a great job on pepper corns, no problem at all (that's what I had loaded in it at the end of the video) though they aren't adjustable. Nice heavy hardware overall, with a plastic reservoir for the spices. Thanks Wes
Thank you! I save the best of it... I have a bunch of paper bags filled with various natural colors, and the red, white, and blue stuff too. What I don't save becomes ground covering in my various garden areas.
Well as Susan is the boss then she should always get first dibs.😁😁 by the way Rod I noticed you didn't have your work watch on or the protector. Take care stay safe😘😘
Yes! She always does, and it's my pleasure of course! No, the velcro has worn out on the watch protector (second one now) and I've just decided not to go that route again, at least for now.
Nice grinders. Forgive me if you’ve covered this in an earlier video but the wire with the handles, what kind of wire is it and is the purpose solely to burn/darken the wood in the grooves? Thank you.
Thank you! No worries. They're just standard steel type wires, I have three gauges of them for different width burns. Yep, they're for just that. Nice easy friction burns. Cutting the grooves first isn't required, but it keeps them on target for me.
Good job brother. Where did you get the thumb press grinders if you don't mind? I have some clientele asking for grinders of the sort. Thanks Semper Fi Marine Grumpa's Buds & Bowls

They look great I did a salt & pepper grinding ones a few years ago still going strong. Like you when sanding use a small drum vacuum cleaner down to 5 microns filtration. Go to protect your lungs. 😀👍🇬🇧
@@RHumphrey I’m like you do a lot off wood turning and jewellery boxes ect but had to put a much bigger dust extraction system in as my other one was to small but you still get dust lol take care.😀😀

Thank you very much, Noah!

Beautiful as always! A base for them to sit in would be a nice follow-on project as they look like they could be a little tippy. Semper Fi.
not tippy at all, as the base is very heavy stainless, but... not a bad idea at all, thank you!

It seemed that the chisels were also burnishing the walnut as they were cutting. I had never seen that before
It's always nice when it happens, though I still needed to sand over it this time...
"Seasoned with salt . . ." Very apt!. Nice little grinders, Rod. Is there any possibility you might make more and sell them in your online shop?
