Rod i told you to not go overboard and I see that you went on and above that is so cool i can't get the smile off my face!!!! My bowl to you does not compare..... i can't wait to see it in person and show you my new tattoo of the very same thing 😂 thank you again... you are a man above men...see you soon
I have followed your videos for many years. I have always been impressed with your quality and craftsmanship. I can no longer turn, but find joy in your work. Most people who quote John 3:16, leave off verse 17, but that is where it belongs. Thank you for your service and creativity.
All I can say is WOW!!! Every time I see one of these projects I recall going through AOC in Pensacola in'68 where my DI was GSGT Walker . The impact that he had on me, obviously, has been lasting. It was through him that my long lasting appriceation of all NCOs gave me the "leg up" for my promotions. I'm a Mustang CDR because of GSGT Walker. Thank you for being a proud USMC vet and keep up the great work!
Thank you very much, Earl, and thanks for sharing that memory and lasting experience! All the best officers I served under trusted in, empowered, and relied upon their NCOs. Semper Fi!
As always, you are a inspiration. In these times when honor and sacrifice seem to be at odds with the values of some in our society, I greatly admire and appreciate your service,Sir.
Beautiful wood, beautifully turned, Rod thanks for sharing & caring, I really missed listening to your gentle voice I hope you & Susan are safe and well.😘😘🙏🙏
Didn't realize I was missing you, until this vid showed up. You brightened my evening and as always, showed what a out of the box craftsman you truly are. From the ol bubblehead to the younger jarhead, Semper Fi.
Haha, yu so silly But righteous though‼️ Xclamatory language. No biggy. Lovely satiny sparkle finish on those cut outs, staggered....sweet. Got swagga💯. Enjoy‼️
Good morning, sir. It is a wonderful day to be in the shop. Your bowl is perfect for the receiver. The wood is amazing. I've never turned any but will have to in the future. The router work is CNC quality. Very enjoyable video. Excellent project. God bless.
Hello Marine! Thank you very much! I've been very deliberate about my shop time of late... a topic we can chat about over coffee someday... Thank you, brother!
That's the exact emoji I sent to my wife when I told her I broke my parting tool today. I'm feeling that bowl right now. 😂 Great job. The wood is stunning.
Thank you very much, my friend! I had a chance to read comments earlier but didn't have time to respond. I appreciate that story, and your recruiting efforts! The more woodturners we have, the better off the world is! (idle hands...)
Rod, I’ve seen some great “potty mouth” jars in my day but never a potty mouth bowl. You may very well have started a new trend! I ❤️ it!! I may need you to make one for my home. 😂 Have a blessed day and big hugs to Sue! 2 Chronicles 7:14! John 3:16! And especially, Matthew 5:3-12!
I find myself confessing and repenting several times a day. Lol. The only peace I've had lately is going off social media for 5 days. Since we don't have cable TV, I'm extremely grateful because my jar would be overflowing! Bahahaha!!!
I was thinking it reminded me of a church collection plate; decked out in the swear face; “I know what you did, sinner, so pay up”! It’s an awful cute little bowl.
Morning Rod, Thanks for doing this project. They are amongst my favourite one you do. It is brilliant. Strange not to hear you dulcet tones though. Take care my friend. Cheers, Huw
The Woodworking is strong with you. A powerful bowl turner you will become. Henceforth, you shall be known as Darth Gouge. Edit: Just to clarify, the anger/angry part of the video title with a star wars sith joke, lol!
Rod, don't know much about Sapele. Guessing it is extremely hard? Curious how you guage how much resin needed to fill the voids? I take glass beads and fill them to measure the volume. Then add in a little more to be sure. This has helped me from waisting unneeded resin. Beautiful piece there. It also applys to my works!😊😊
It is pretty hard wood, yes, and heavy. I usually guestimate how much resin, but I made much more than needed in this project, for another side project. Your way of figuring the volume is a good one though! Thanks very much!
I guess that’s ok as long as you don’t let the sun go down while he’s still angry. 😬 Eph 4:26. 😁 I don’t see how you are able to do that router work freehand. You’re a human CNC. Beautiful!
Do you ever have problems with the Ack's paste? I've done it several times and tried to do it exactly the way the prescribe and it looks really good, but if I wipe something like a salad bowl with a damp cloth even once to clean it, the finish comes right off/it isn't shiny any more. I make sure the wood is sealed before the Ack's like they recommend, and with the abrasive past and polish apply gentle pressure until it's hot... Any tips?
From my own experience, it's a product that can last a long time on a display piece but needs reapplication after washing, like a salad bowl would. It does soak into the wood to a degree because of the ingredients, but the luster will wear off for sure, especially with washing or wiping down. I keep some mineral oil on hand in the kitchen just to retreat my wood bowls and utensils when needed. Finishing is a challenge though, at least for me. I've yet to find a perfect finish, but I like a lot of them for what they are. That's probably a mediocre answer at best... but I hope it helps.
That' a pretty neat %#!$& bowl, MSgt Humprhey. Looks like the wood had some nice chatoyance. I guess every time %#!$& is spoken, someone needs to put some money in the bowl? It's a cuss bowl instead of a cuss jar. Semper Fi

Absolutely. I am still looking forward to the chat and coffee. Semper Fidelis
Very nice bowl! Love the wood grain. Looks like a "Done with peopling bowl" dump the keys and your day in it and go relax!
hahaha! "Done with peopling" needs to be on a t-shirt! 🤣🤣
You're welcome to use it, not even sure where I heard it. But that is the reason I'm retired!@@RHumphrey
Really nice, Rod. I've missed seeing your crazy router skills. I also missed your soothing narration in this one.

Thanks, Randy! 😊
I love how that wood shines! You do a fantastic job. My favorite still was the Celtic bowl you made.
