We just left the dealership and put my $1000 deposit on the Honda Pilot Elite. I added the running boards so my 5 and 2 year old can climb in easier. total came to $51,000 It wont arrive till late August as it has to be built...can't wait to get this beautiful car on the road. thanks again for this great review.

At the dealership they had a 2019 Honda Pilot with graphite-looking running boards. Really cool looking. We negotiated that they include these on the 2016 Honda Pilot Touring we purchased. The next day they called telling us they do not fit the 2016 model . . . very disappointed :(
Mike, I really appreciate your interest in my comments, and that you want to verify my info. You asked if I could share my knowledge about car and truck suspensions. There are metallurgical reports you can read on line. You research them based on the metal and application you want to know about, but they can be tedious. I have taken physics and multiple chemistry classes in college, which has helped me in understanding what they are saying, but a lot of it is pretty strait forward. The rest is 30yrs of car magazines, books, talking to mechanics, noting where a suspension bends from a crash, both at salvage yards and crash tests. Also self observations of suspension control arms, struts, spindles, mounting points, metals used and whether the car has a subframe or not, if so what type, if not a body on frame design. Also observing design changes through the years. I learn as much about cars as I can, but I'm not really interested in doing a blog or TH-cam channel. I do hope reviewers will talk more about the suspension and chassis, including some video. I hope my comments will help consumers, as well as the reviewer.

I traded a 2003 Toyota Sequoia for this 2016 Pilot Touring. This 2016 Pilot Touring has many modern cool gadgets and many safety features. The exterior is sexy, and the interior is roomy and efficient. The 2nd and 3rd rows have plenty of room for several standard size bottle waters. This car also has enough USB and power sockets so that all 8 passengers can charge their phones at the same time. I added the hitch/harness for the occasional U-Haul trailer rental. I also added the roof cross bars and the mud splash guards.

Thanks for an informative video. Funny thing I've noticed - in all of the 2016 Pilot videos available on TH-cam, you can clearly notice a lot of fingerprint smear marks on the navigation system's glossy display, including this video. Does it look as bad as on videos or is it actually worse-looking in real life? ;-)
I do like the new Pilot, however there is one issue I noticed, they did away with the thick rear step bumper, the 2016 model has a very small rear bumper. In a low speed impact the rear cargo door would be severely damaged.

Joseph Hardison The 3rd row will fit two average size adults comfortably. Older children should not be a problem, if you can convince them to sit in the back ;)
Donald Sprouls have you seen the new comercial where the family is on a road trip and the granddad is sitting in 3rd row? Could it be video editing. I was like the teenager was sitting in front of the granddad and the mother in the passenger seat. So, maybe the mother was short because it seems like the granddad had this legs stretched out. 😅😅😅. ....I'm just saying it seems kind of suspect.
I am 5' 8" and I fit very comfortably on the 3rd row, so I'll be able to sit myself and 7 high school kids in this car just fine. I was initially considering the 2015 Toyota Highlander, but the 3rd row would not have worked for the car pool. I also considered 2016 Pilot Elite version, but I would have lost the ability to sit the 8th passenger. This 2016 Pilot Touring is the best bang for the buck in the current market.

I have 2 questions my local dealership states the touring only comes in captain chairs, but I see that yours is in a bench model? I'm wondering was I miss informed? Does the elite have power assist folding for the second and third rows or are they all manual lowering like this touring version? Touring seats 8 people with the 2nd row bench seats. The Elite seats 7 people with the 2nd row heated captain chairs. The Touring is able to better handle large cargo like a trip to IKEA than the Elite with the 2nd row center console.
I own a 2016 Honda Pilot Touring. I don't know about other countries, but here in the US the Touring comes with bench style seats on the 2nd and 3rd row. Only the Elite has the captain chairs in the 2nd row, at least in the US.
heard some comments about 9 speed transmission that need some programming, don't buy this version yet wait until Honda re-program the transmission. any comments? thanks
Yeah it made no sense to me about why Honda chose to use Halogen bulbs instead of LED'S. First thing I did when I bought my 2017 pilot touring is I took mine to one of my local light shops and had them convert all of the halogen bulbs to LED because the Honda dealership wouldn't do it when I took it to them.

we considered the MDX but it just wasn't worth it...less cargo space in the rear, higher roofline as well. The front grill DEFINITELY looks better than the Acura too. Very happy!

Is the push button transmission selector only for the 9 speed? Have seen photos of regular shifter in that spot for other models.

You showed that it comes with heated seats but does it also comes with A/C vented seats?
Prowler This one didn't have cooled seats.
Concerning the new nav,,,,, Will it warn the driver when you approach a camered light?
LKAS is lane keep assist which will actually steer the pilot back in its lane if it should drift out

No the car can detect how much steering imput you put in, so if you just let go eventually the system will deactivate
But yea its sort of like auto pilot with the active cruise control and lkas

Captain chairs come with the Touring Elite only . Touring is 8 passenger with bench seats .
