      Do you have to spray it more then once or does it work one time and you're good? I'd do it but seems like once the WD 40 wears off you have to spray it again, might cost you more money fixing it every time then it would to buy new controllers in the long run.

      This method is really bad. The best and only way to fix it is to clean it inside when you remove the black cover. The worse of them all is to waste your time sending it back to facebook since you can easily fixed yourself that ended up as good as new at home

    Duuuuuuuuuuude! I have been having the exact same issue with my left controller for a couple months, now. I figured it was something that needed some crazy fix, that I'm not qualified for, or it would need full repair, that I likely couldn't afford. Then, after getting so fed-up with that left stick going crazy, I came upon your video after several searches for a fix. And this 100% works! My controller acts like I just bought it. Had this same issue with Quest 1 controller and used this fix a few times with good success, but it always came back. Oculus Support sent me a great tip, which was to run a toothpick around the seating of the thumbstick while holding it out at its maximum (do this for up, down, left and right). This cleared out some obvious gunk inside and the controller has been perfect since

    • @OPENPCreviews
      @OPENPCreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you have physical debris around the base of the thumbstick that you could see visually or do you mean somehow sticking it under the thumbstick? I wasn't able to see any dirt is why I'm asking. Thanks for the info.

    nice video. I just bought a left oculus 2 controller a few weeks ago. My old controller had crazy drift. I got the q2 last October right at launch and I been using it almost daily so Im not really complaining.

    • @OPENPCreviews
      @OPENPCreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks! I also got mine on launch day. Yeah someone else told me that their controller drift was completely fixed by doing this as well! I've never had controller drift with these but good to know in case it happens. Weird though that I've never had issues like this with my Q1 controllers and I used them quite a bit. So if you still have your original left Oculus Quest 2 controller you should keep it, I bet this trick will get rid of the drift! Same side controller I was having issue with, the left one. I was just about to order a new left Quest 2 controller for $69 when I posted this issue on Reddit and got the advice to try this. I was shocked and extremely thankful that it actually worked.

  • @textus9465
    @textus9465 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Works like a charm! No more drift, it's like a whole new controller.

    We're spending hundreds of dollars the least they could do is have remote controls that work I remember years ago even Nintendo controllers would last for years. Keep in mind that while the WD-40 may be a quick fix from my experience the problem will come back probably worse than before and then by that time the warranty will be expired so you're out the money I looked into a price of a new remote and where I'm at it's $100 just for one remote. We had purchased two Oculus quests and they both have the same issue that you're talking about so it's obvious that everybody is getting it sooner or later Oculus really should step up their customer support and issue refunds or credits. Why do we have to take a day out of our lives to buy all these extra products to fix their cheap product that breaks after a few weeks lol.

    Walmart now has CRC brand QD Electronic Cleaner, red and white can with small black cap in the automotive section near the engine degreasers. WORKS LIKE A CHARM, the gray residue is graphite IMHO, because the X and Y button got shorted a bit by it, but once wiggled a bit they started working again, I sprayed so much that it poured through the trigger LMFAO. Thank you very much!

    you can blow really on the thunbstick pushing it down while moving backwards, without any air or anything.

    Do you need the air compressor as the final step or was it just to save time? Wanna make sure I know what’s necessary before doing this?

    • @OPENPCreviews
      @OPENPCreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It probably isn't necessary I was just using it to not only help dry the contact cleaner out but to also blow out any debris or dust.

    It says remove battery first. What if i have the pro controller where there's no battery that's able to be taken out? Is it still safe to do?

    • @OPENPCreviews
      @OPENPCreviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say NO! DO NOT TRY THIS ON THE PRO CONTROLLERS SINCE YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE BATTERIES!!!!
      I'm guessing you're having this problem with your pro controllers? Sucks that you can't remove the batteries because I'm pretty sure trying this without removing the battery would kill the controllers.

    • @CompleteAnimeFan

      @OPENPCreviews Great to know. Yeah I've been having this problem for a few days now. Which is really sad when you put into the fact that I bought these from Meta 2 weeks ago and the left controller is already giving me issues.

    • @OPENPCreviews

      @@CompleteAnimeFan That's one thing I really didn't like about the pro controllers is that you cannot remove the batteries.

      @CompleteAnimeFan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OPENPCreviews I would be willing to forgive that if they would just fix the controllers getting this issue so easily. If I'm paying 300 bucks, I'm expecting it to last longer than 2 weeks.

    I had the issue as well. The Oculus support called it "stick drift", but AFAIK stick drift is a different issue and can be fixed to a certain extent by extending the dead zone. But this issue here is different and since this is quite wide spread: is there an actual name for this issue?
    BTW: I got my left controller replaced by Amazon and the new controller developed the same issue after 1 month, but worse.

    • @Slakass55
      @Slakass55 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the correct name for this ailment is 'stick drift'. Happens to just about every controller that uses a joystick, be it xbox 360, One, PS4... Sounds like for once Meta got something right (no, not the controllers but the name of the ailment)

Thank you for the direction of hardware and advice, and anyone from the 80s blow in that bad boy really good and hard like it's Zelda and it works...... I swear.

    I have the same issue I have watched a couple videos that say the best cleaner to fix it for good is car CNC brand Mass air flow sensor cleaner. WD works but you usually have to reapply once a week the CNC stuff is a little more potent but still safe for plastic it's a once and done treatment.
