      Its never worked for me however i believe it was a video by you might have been someone else but if the drift is really bad can take the controller apart (being as gentle as possible) and can pull on the side of the stick module and clean the area with qtip and some rubbing alcohol i had 3 controllers with stick drift so bad you couldnt even use them just to navigate the menu one controller was brand new only used maybe 2 weeks before the problem started and it worked amazing i now have 5 fully functioning controllers again. Thanks for all your videos they are absolutely helpful in everyway keep it up man

      You need to open it and clean the components attached to the side of the analog stick in 2 compartments that snap open easily with rubbing alchohal. If you have never opened a controller i recommend spawn waves TH-cam channel as he has detailed tutorials on how to open controllers and consoles. I followed his tutorials for ps4 controllers and also the ones on how to replace joy con sticks because mine was cracked and also how to replace the locking mechanism of the joy con with metal ones. He has many very good tutorial videos as he worked at GameStop for 10 years in the repair department. He is basically the Linus tech tips of consoles.

      "My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone."

    I actually CAUSED drift on a perfectly good controller by trying to over clean analogue sticks.. you've got to be really careful! It seems like if anything sneaks down those holes it can cause drift or random movements while in game it's very sensitive. The problem is I hate the crunchy stick rotation feeling I like it feeling smooth so I tended to over clean but I just have to leave it alone

    • @brycearnold5232

    This has never worked for me. I have to take it apart gently pry open the plastic retainer for the analog potentiometers and clean them carefully with alcohol. I've noticed sometimes variations in quality of how the contact material is exposed for the analog mechanism circuits. I've had to carefully sometimes strip out extra insulation that was blocking the conductor runs for a better contact. Seen this problem even with very new controllers. It's annoying.

      Honestly compressed air won't do too much to alleviate drift. Its just a more accurate version of blowing into your analog stick. It might temporarily fix it but the permenant solution is to open it up and thoroughly clean the white disc and it's chambers

  • @keonio13

    • @tinystar3010

    Not going to hurt anything doing that, However, Its not Really going to help anything either. Now if you were to open the shell and blow directly into the mechanism and remove the hair and crud that tends to build up, You might help. Usually the issue lies in the potentiometers (2 per stick x and y axis) They also get gunked up over time, and can be carefully bent and opened up, cleaned with IPA and good as new. Its more involved and you run the risk of breaking something if you are not used to doing such things as cracking open electronics. It does save you a nice bit of money though, can even buy "broken" controllers from friends, and then clean them and resell them ;)

    I have a weird malfunction on my controller where when I push it forward sometimes another input is made and in my case it doesn’t register as a sprint the moment I press crouch to slide in warzone so I do this awkward crouch sometimes. Other times mid sprint without sliding it will just kinda spas out and start to sprint, cancel sprint and start again all extremely quickly. Tilting the stick around and blowing into it actually dies temporarily fix the problem!

  • @tainteddragon2438
    @tainteddragon2438 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I'd never use compressed air externally like that. When it's opened up to blow out the joystick modules, that's different.
    For external touch up clean, I'd still do the q-tip with the rubbing alcohol. Afterwards it's better to use a vacuum clean hose. If there is any debris, the vacuum will suck it up. With compressed air, any residual debris that is hiding in a crevice, will only get pushed deeper in the controller.

    • @cortlandprince6668
      @cortlandprince6668 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tainted Dragon to use any form of a vacuum on any electronic is retarded that is how you build up static electricity which can fuck your electronics up

      @tainteddragon2438 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cortlandprince6668
      In this specific application...
      1. Static charge is too minuscule to do anything as any trace of static will keep grounding out by the touch of bare skin. Also a few specs of dust/debris is incapable of generating enough static to do anything.
      2. I'm not vacuuming bare electronics in this case. I'm technically vacuuming a crevice here. I would never use vacuums on bare electronics. That would be careless for a couple reasons.
      3. The only grounding point from the outside is the charging port in which you need a serious jolt to cause any damage there.

    Canned air will not fix the stick drift. The movement contacts are in too deep for air to make it in that far. If you do not know what you are doing. I do not recommend anyone to try and take apart their controllers. Over time dust can make it into the controllers stick contacts and make it drift or in my case made my right stick move slow. A few drops of electric contact cleaner works wonders. I open up the controller and disconnect the battery. I lightly spray the cleaner into the contact area out side where there is plenty of ventilation. I let it fully dry, then put the controller back together. 99% of the time this fixes the sticks to function properly. The 1% is the controller is worn out and time to solder an new stick controller in or just buy a new controller.

      If its L3 (left stick press) is the same fix as normal drift. Must open ur controller, remove battery, open chambers, remove discs in it, clean chambers with q-tip and alcool and ur done. Opening chambers its risky they break easy especially if ur controller itsolder then 1 year, mist be very very careful, because if u break those u need to replace the entire stick unit and rewuire desoldering and soldering

      Have you ever taken apart a ps4 controller? A compressor is not too much. It actually doesn't even help all that much. Its best to take it apart and clean between the plastics close to the sensor. Blowing canned air can never get to those parts of the control because the plastics holding the sensors are clamped shut. Once you know how to do it you can't go back to using canned air like this again. Its both more effective and efficient

    • @itsmesteve1081
      @itsmesteve1081 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And it's really not hard. Just grab a screwdriver laying around like I did and have a can of air and preferably something with a flat head like tweezers or something to pull apart the said clamped shut plastic to get to the sensors.

I looked a lot to find a answer, and there's always some idiots making jokes here and there. And some say it is the rubber decaying. Here's the thing: it seems that the rubber may absorb a bit of oil. First I tried just wiping it off. No fix. Then I used some all purpose cleaner (I can't explain what it is - different country; like water and a little bit of soap). No fix. I got mad and used alcohol (ethanol). I don't think it was 70% (very aggressive), maybe 45%. Don't remember. This solved. Never they went sticky again and have texture like new. No decaying. Nothing.
