Paramore has aged so much more gracefully than pretty much any other big band in that scene they came up in, and quite frankly it’s not even close. The way they’ve continued to grow and evolve is just leagues better than their contemporaries.

@@Soybean13 I’m of the opinion that up until this album, all their albums got progressively better. Not that this album isn’t great, but I think After Laughter edges it out. I love their self-titled though. I grew up with their first three but I thought it was a huge jump in quality when I first heard their self-titled. Taylor York becoming more involved in the writing process was a godsend. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with pop music. I think when Paramore makes pop music, it’s good pop music. I think Proof is one of the best hooks they ever wrote. Anklebiters just has so much energy. Gospel section in Ain’t it Fun warrants it being their biggest commercial hit. Last Hope has some of the best lyrics Hayley’s ever wrote. One of Those Crazy Girls is so much fun. Future is this crazy post-rock foray, the least commercial song they’ve ever done to this day to close out their most commercial album. The whole record just has so much variety and it really made me so excited for the future of the band cause that self-titled album presented so many different sounds and pathways they could continue to go down in the future. And so far the following two albums delivered on that promise.

@@razrv3lc I think that you're a tad off-base. To me, the former are the kinds of Paramore fans that actually listen to albums (who Fantano specifically caters to) and the latter are the nostalgia crowds (aka. the "I loved them on the radio when I was a kid" crowds). A successful band kind of needs both to stay as relevant as Paramore still does.

Liar is actually one of my favorite tracks on the whole record, definitely my favorite out of all the slower ones. The lyrics hit so hard every single time. The realization that you've been trying to hide your feelings from someone for so long but they always knew how you felt, so even in the confession there's a place of safety. "Oh my love, I lied to you, but I never needed to. Oh my love, I lied to you, but you always knew the truth."
The bridge moves me too not only for personal reasons but also because it's a beautiful realization for Hayley and the journey she has been on with understanding and accepting love. It's such an honest, vulnerable, and mature lyric. "Love is not an easy thing to admit, but I'm not ashamed of it. Love is not a weakening if you feel it rushing in, don't be ashamed of it."

Liar is a grower. I don’t find it sullen. For me, it’s beautiful and redemptive. I’ve seen a lot of commentary about how it doesn’t ever come through with a ‘release’ or big chorus, which is probably rooted more in the context of the entire album (and Paaramore more generally) than the internal movement of the song. The tension/release is subtle for a reason.

Paramore, on average, had been the most artistically-viable pop-rock group from that late 2000s era of music for some time now. I think it's great that the music critic world has finally come to recognize that fact as their music has matured over the years.
Side note: somewhat sad that Paramore chose to tour in Charlotte instead of Raleigh this year, but that's OK. Pretty sure that they'll come here eventually.

One thing that I give Paramore huge credit for is that they didn't fall into the trap of thinking that their best years were in high school/college. I mean, sure, this album won't have the massive viral impact that a track like, say, Misery Business had at the time, but the overall sound of the experience is generally way more fulfilling than any of their old scenester-era records ever were. I'm 31 now, turning 32 this year, and I still love them, still love every single album, and have never been bored with them. They're genuinely the most consistent mf's out there. Even with All We Know Is Falling, Hayley's lyrics, vocals, and the band's sound were more ahead of their time than their predecessors. It kinda amazes me. It took me a minute for this album to really grow on me (I love AL so much, it's very hard for me to not compare the two), but even then, Hayley's lyrics are still gut-punchingly relatable and the sound is fresh.
