That's not a gift, it's practice. It's not easy listen to an opposing view. And it's even harder to learn or bounce ideas off an opposing view. Talk to people to do that

@bodanerius I didn't mean that I couldn't do it, I meant that its great to see a public person do it. So many people are married to a belief system or political idolatry that they couldn't possibly have an interesting conversation with anyone who is different in any way

The talk about Reagan being private reminded me of stories I heard about him at his ranch. We lived not too far from his california home. What we heard was that he didn't like the secret service being around him at his ranch, while he was doing ranch work and just in general. So the SS would have to wear ghillie suits and hide in the brush and trees. Also heard he would just get in his old jeep and head into town to shop without telling anyone, of course the secret service would go tearing after him as soon as they saw what was happening.

Finally, an actor willing to portray one of our greatest presidents w/ reverence instead of a leftist skew of contempt. While recent presidential surveys are cooked propaganda, bearing no resemblance to fact or reality, the only survey that matters - We The People- places him at or near the top of every list. What he taught us about fighting Communism is more important now than ever.
I’m looking forward to seeing one film on Reagan that’s a biographical/historical rather than political production. I have a sneaking suspicion that they just might have gotten it right.

Listening to this, it occurs to me that we are always playing a part. Maybe we think that part is who we really are, but most likely the part we are playing is based on some inner assumption of who we are supposed to be. To create good and lasting habits we would need to see ourselves as accomplishing the goals we have in mind and then follow suit. This is why I think it is so important to heed what Jesus said about being the way, the truth and the life. If we started acting like we were Him, we could start becoming who we already are.

I disagree with the assertion that it was Reagan's tricks that defeated the Soviets. As much as I respect Reagan's Presidency the Soviet economy imploded, mostly, on its own. Mises would say (and I think he's absolutely right) that it was the lack of price signaling and subsequent misallocation of investment/capital that did the trick. One way or the other, a crooked structure, like the Soviet society and economy, can't grow very tall. It's bound to fail and fail it did.

If anyone thought empathy couldn't be dangerous, they're in for a shock. Despite this, it's the most demanded and idealised state of being. It is however full of benefits, I agree there. Learning vicariously has a much safer nature than learning everything the hard way.
This state is supposed to be able to change a person.

Don't know the man. Enjoy his work immensely. Born the same year and went to boarding school with Hollywood icon's children. So glad he brought up the Jerry Lee Lewis character played. I remember small bits of gossip during that time. He's matured intellectually.
Hope Randy's alright. Met him briefly in my hometown Santa Barbara.
Totally concur with Dennis' take about TH-cam. I used to read newspapers and anything I could find with information about, as the World turns. I can basically do all of that now with TH-cam.
Never met a person who articulates and selects word alchemy as this wonderful person, who came to the rescue for all freedom fighters...
Dr. Jordan Peterson. He is the good personified equal opposite against the evil of our times... 🙏 Amen, makes me want to believe in God again.

Quaid, as Willis Davidge, singing the songline of Jeriba Shigan, his 'Enemy Mine', is reflected in this discussion. Regan was inside his enemy, the Russian leadership, and understood them. And like Davidge, respected the differences and the similarities.

I love quirky, out of the mainstream movies. Breaking Away is my favorite. I once read an article in Architectural Digest magazine about Dennis' house in Jackson Hole, WY. I believe it had been previously owned by Sam Peckinpaugh. I didn't care about the house or its history. What caught my interest was that Dennis built an observatory with a 16" telescope. Being the owner of a 16" telescope, I was impressed.

Excellent video. Reagan is indeed a fascinating figure to delve into. This is the first video of yours that I’ve watched, although I’ve heard quite a bit about you from my circles. I plan to explore more of your content.
I study psychology independently, driven by my own pace and interests, which helps keep me engaged. My own channel offers a unique perspective, and to my surprise, it has grown rapidly in under a month. As an introvert, I didn't expect much from it initially, but I was pleasantly mistaken. Many of my viewers recommended your channel, and I'm glad I followed their advice.
Reagan is a compelling subject, particularly in light of some of the significant policies and actions he was associated with. I look forward to watching more of your videos and may very well become a subscriber.

It wasn't that Starwars didn't exist that made thing weird. It was the fact that IF the American President announced that it WOULD exist, that the Soviets would be forced to attempt to keep up. The Soviets were willing to give up something just to keep us from deciding to turn it into the next space race.

Dennis Quaid seems to be comfortable sitting really close and Peterson is comfortable sitting far away, so Jordan is doing well in holding his position out of his comfort zone.
Dennis holding eye contact really comfortably and Peterson is having to hold his.
Dennis really has a dominant conversational quality, ultimately Peterson is more agreeable, so he’s doing really well there too..
