I think IWC I think that brat of a Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes F1. I think pilot watch, I think Breitling first to be honest (I mean, they have a jet team and an ELT watch).
Tbh, I don't think many of my colleagues wear anything close to resembling a pilot watch, these days most don't even wear an analog watch at all. A pleasant exception was someone I saw rocking an Omega Speedmaster recently. Myself, the closest thing I have is probably a MWC MKIII in gunmetal (limited edition 1/100), a recreation of the classic 1950s NATO specification watches which were made under UK Ministry of Defence reference 6B/346 Mk XI. But my daily right now is a Boldr Venture Carbon on titanium bracelet.

My new Pilot watch cost 30 euros. Timex. The Brietling was the only useful one but it has a messed up face and bezel. It is difficult to find a good bezel watch with white numbers on a black dial. Mine is on my channel, It really is the part I just hate the fingers, plane white would have been much better. I am a pilot and I use the bezel all the time. The Marathon is nice but again the bezel is numbered wrong.

Great video Teddy. As a pilot I've owned several of these to include the Oris, Glycine Airman, and currently use the Tudor GMT. I would love a GMT Master II and I really appreciate the X-33 although I'm partial to the Gen II. The Navi and IWCs are classics. I see a lot of other pilots also wear the Skyhawk and I'd like to add that the Aerospace is still a popular watch in the pilot community (though I know this is titled this BEST, not the most COMMON). Also can't go wrong with a basic G-Shock 5600 or 9052 which was (not sure if it still is) government issue in mil pilot training. -mil/Part 121

As a pilot the only thing you really use, other than accurate time, is GMT. I chose the original Grand Seiko SBGE001. Having a true GMT and more time lines in the dial is actually useful. Now there are many new GS models that might fit you better, but there are no units with better movements than GS.

I am Captain for American Airlines, so being a professional pilot and owning several of these watches, I can tell what real pilots prefer to use. It’s the Apple Watch. Honestly. The amount of info we get on the Apple Watch, the ease of use, clarity. I purchased a Tudor GMT last week and in just under a week the date wheel problem surfaced. This is unacceptable from an entry luxury watch priced at $4,050. I have read that Tudor delayed the watch due to knowing of this issue and still sold the product. Tudor has yet to release a statement and reason why for this failure. My other gripe is that the watch bracelet has no half links and only three micro links. Depending on the temperature, the bracelet will either feel too tight or slightly loose in my opinion.
Yes the watch does look very nice but feels a bit chunky. At the end of the day I can't recommend the watch.

I just want a Porsche Design Orfina Chronograph 1. Maverick's watch in both Top Gun movies. The holy grail pilot watch.

Is the Rolex GMT really a pilots watch ? It’s certainly not marketed as one , the dial is not so clear to read either

It was made for Pan-Am pilots

You can get a GMT complication on just about any type of watch, that doesn't turn it into it a pilot watch.

@@ruggsterify I mean, he's calling a BB GMT a pilot watch, he kind of did say it.

That Glycine has an acrylic crystal FYI, it's the vintage re-issue model. It's nice looking, but basically useless, no water resistance of any sort.

Sure. But Airman's been to the moon (Pete Conrad), so it's got that going for it.

I was surprised at the lack of waterresistance as well. 10M is extremely low. I would not dare to wear it on a rainy day.

If you don't mind 44mm case with 50mm lug to lug, check out the seiko prospex SRPB61K1 for under $200. I sure do love mine.

GMT Master 2 (not a prayer of being able to buy one from a Rolex dealer ) followed by the Tudor GMT ...Great idea re the used section on your site, I’m off to have a look

My only problem with my BB GMT is that it feels a little small on me. I'm a large guy, so a 45 or so is usually what fits me best. But having a watch with Zulu on it is basically a necessity as a pilot

Enjoyed the video. Love the facts and comparisons. My current favorite watch is the Breitling Headwind that I've had for over 15 years. Still runs like a champ and 1/3 the price of the Navitimer...
