Yeah, I prefer the Devils’ way of paying homage as opposed to the Canes’ way of wearing a teams skin for two nights. I would really prefer if Minnesota was the one to throwback to the North Stars, the Avalanche throwing back to the Rockies (though that would be tough as they are a baseball team now), and the Jackets to throwback to the Barons (only because the jerseys are sick).
Man what a set! I love these vids, but I love the concept artists too! My ranking: 1. STL - This is what the Blues should look like from here on out. I’m declaring that they change over to these. Right. Now. 2. DAL - Taking the winter classic threads and making them look like the North Stars...I absolutely LOVE this one! 3. NYR - I’m very critical of those who change my Blueshirt sweaters. But you sir, you did a mighty fine job on this one. Changing up their current logo and making it look much more classic, the striping is gorgeous, and the gloves are awesome. This one is awesome (and it’s about time someone didn’t use Lady Liberty!)! 4. WPG - Taking the current logo, making it look classic, and putting it with their classic threads. The addition of the shoulder striping makes this concept very nice and surprisingly clean. Love this! 5. COL - Avalanche concepts are awesome. This one is no different. What makes this stick out more though is the mountain range at the bottom descending into the pants. This is absolutely FIRE. 6. ANA - The first one shown is clearly a awesome start. Orange & teal? And the old logo? Yes please give this to me! 7. SJ - I thought “electric Kool Aid” at first, but this one kinda grew on me as I kept looking at it. The zig-zag striping I like a lot, the socks make the rest of the set pop. I think this would look really good as a Color Rush sweater! 8. CGY - I was absolutely surprised to see this logo, yet it works so well with the colors. It’s very 80s looking and very sleek. Love it! 9. TOR - This is definitely different to any Maple Leaf concept I’ve seen. And I like it! Especially that triangular word label with the maple leaf! 10. PIT - I actually like this concept a lot. It brings back some 90s vibes and it isn’t too much to me. 11. DET - Man it can’t get any cleaner or classic than this! However their currents are pretty nice and classic too, so I understand how difficult it is to change something that already works, so props to that! 12. WSH - I like the concept of this concept, I think the colors and the logo look really nice. The gradient or texture of the blue on the sweater makes it look like it doesn’t match the pants (it’s too light), but otherwise a pretty bold one. I love that Weagle logo non colored, very nicely done with this. 13. CAR - I’d never thought I’d see the day where a monochrome sweater catches my eye. It’s super clean and didn’t need much to make it work. Very nice. 14. PHI - I bet you were thinking of Gostisbehere when you made this, didn’t you? I think it’s really cool, but I don’t think it’s Flyers without the black. That being said, this would be a really cool Color Rush sweater. 15. LA - It looks almost identical to the Florida concept, but i think it works here. Classic logo, classic colors. I might get rid of the stripe on the pants (it’s the Kings not the Lakers), but other than that I like this. 16. AZ - This isn’t half bad! I love the patterns involved, but the coloring of the ol’ school coyote throws me off a little bit. Still very nice. 17. OTT - It’s definitely not bad. I think if there was white, this would look so much better. (If the numbers on the back won’t be white, I’d be cringing as a broadcaster trying to figure out who is who) 18. BOS - It definitely looks very identical to their current threads, but I notice that it’s not a true black, it’s a very dark brown. Maybe missing something on the shoulders but it’s extremely clean and I like it. 19. CBJ - If only the cannon logo was used...then this would be perfect! 20. MIN - I think if that beige was much lighter, I’d love this more. It’s very clean and it looks really nice, but it’s a bit subdued. 21. FLA - This isn’t too bad to me, I love the pants and the colors. I think the striping along the sides of the torso throw me off just a bit, but I do like that there’s no blue and the red seems darker. Not bad at all! 22. BUF - This one is not too shabby. It seems like the alt logo back during the early 2000s & their current jersey put into one, which is a pretty good look. I think it would look better in royal blue. 23. VGK - Wow. I don’t know what to say about this other than it looks like a basketball jersey on a hockey sweater. Definitely different for sure! 24. NJ - There’s definitely more black involved which I’m fine with. But their current threads look really good too, and I think this is a miss for me. 25. EDM - This would be a cool color rush jersey. But it’s not one for me. 26. CHI - Interesting concept. I like the logo and Chicago in black, but I’d say the coloring associated with it makes me not like it. Pretty sure someone will love this, I just happen to not be one of them (and that’s okay). 27. MTL - It’s the Nordiques?...but I do like the logo used. 28. NYI - It seems...plain? Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. It doesn’t work for me because the logo doesn’t pop like their current one. However, I really do like that orange helmet! 29. TB - This one is definitely different to those I’ve seen in the past. I don’t really like it, and i think it’s just the color & that bottom sweater lightning bolt that comes down to it. If this was black or their current blue, this would look so much better. But that’s just me. 🤷🏻 30. VAN - The gradient with the green on the sweater just doesn’t do it for me...sorry. That and the Orca logo. 😬 31. NSH - Holy gradient pattern of something Batman. I think if that were to be solid, this would look mighty fine. The striping is awesome though. Yes! That's the Coyotes concept I've wanted to see all along -- working with a current color scheme and classic franchise elements. The texture looks tasteful, too. Other standouts for me are the Canes, Rangers, and Sharks. That Vegas jersey would sell like hotcakes, I bet. Btw, imma take a smidge of credit for bringing back the jingle!

Hey Neil, here's my take: - ANAHEIM: I know they're from Orange County, but that shouldn't form part of their jersey. I'd replace it with purple. - ARIZONA: Overdid it on the gold, I'm afraid. And besides, they won't be long in this world. - BOSTON: A darker shade of brown, as it should be. I like. - BUFFALO: Another interesting design, using one of their alternate logos in the 90's. I'd put player numbers just above the point where the sabres cross inside the circle - a bit like what the Golden State Warriors used to do in the 1970's, I think. - CAROLINA: I thought "did Boyan switch on the B&W filter by mistake"? - COLUMBUS: That's quite a good look. - CALGARY: And so's this one. I don't mind the horse head being the main logo this time. - DALLAS: This is a bold one. Personally, I don't think the Stars should use the old North Stars looks, that's part of Minnesota's hockey heritage. But this is quite aggressive, in its simplicity. - DETROIT: Simple, bold, clear. Some may say boring, but I don't. - EDMONTON: "Looks like he's wearing shorts" - hockey players do wear shorts. I'm pretty sure no one's worn Cooperalls for a long time. Last time I saw someone wear Cooperalls was during a Solihull Barons game in the 1980's. Concerning the uniform, not bad. - FLORIDA and LOS ANGELES: They seem to follow a template pattern, along with New Jersey. They remind me of what a company called Admiral Sportswear used to do with football (ie, soccer) jerseys in the 1970's. Of the three, I'd say Los Angeles is my fave, followed by New Jersey, then Florida. - MINNESOTA: that wood fabric isn't doing it for me, I'm afraid. - MONTREAL: It's a bolder design than their current duds. The fleurs-de-lis are nice touches, as they also pay homage to the Quebec Nordiques. - NASHVILLE: Perhaps if the jersey was predominantly blue, I'm not keen on mustard as their main colour jersey. - NEW JERSEY: refer to Florida and Los Angeles. - NY ISLANDERS: I like the new logo, but I'd highlight the letters in white. - NY RANGERS: a nice neat design, but I'd use a more updated version of the shield. - OTTAWA: I can see why designers of these concepts prefer to use the early 90's Senators logo, it's more adaptable. It suits this uniform very well. - PHILADELPHIA: Not a fan of the white shorts, but this is otherwise an uncluttered classic. - PITTSBURGH: I like this uniform, but how about they use blue instead of yellow as their main colour? - SAN JOSE: Yes, another good design. - ST LOUIS: I was wondering how this look would be like without the red touches. It still holds well. - TAMPA BAY: With the lighter blue touch and the bolt flashes, this is distinctive enough to differentiate it from Toronto - finally. - TORONTO: The chevron reminds me of a uniform the Raptors used a couple of years ago. - VANCOUVER: that's not a bad design. - VEGAS: Oooh!! Almost every sports team in history never uses glitter in their design, and we now know why. - WASHINGTON: I like to see a blue uniform with the Weagle as the main logo. - WINNIPEG: This is a winner for me, even though it looks like the Jets are copying the Captain America uniform, ironically enough. Even though some of these weren't great, it was really nice to see something different in the jerseys, a lot of concepts aren't wildly different from real-life jerseys the disigner did a great job of being different.

I believe that the Vegas jersey was a play on what knights wore. All the silver representing a knights armor and the gold, red, black representing their clans tunic they would wear over their armor. Taking that into account, i actually liked it, but probably a little to gimmick-y for pro sports.
My understanding is that the North Stars rights are connected to the Dallas franchise and require the Dallas permission to be used. The Alumni game for the Minnesota outdoor game a few years back required consent from Dallas for the North Stars logo usage, which they gave as the current owner wants to distance slightly from Minnesota due to the Wilds existence. Colorado are able to use elements of the Rockies due to the state flag having the same C as the Rockies logo but they couldn't straight up use the Rockies jersey without Devils consent. Interesting fact though, Victory green is the same exact shade green as the North Stars wore in the cup run in 1991, and I believe for most if not all of their existence. Also the North stars jerseys on the NHL shop are only available from the Dallas page and not the Wild page. Cool video though dude, maybe I'm biased as a stars fan but I love that Dallas jersey 😁
No, the Minnesota Wild are a seperate franchise from the Minnesota North Stars, and the Owner changed the name from the North Stars to the Stars then moved the team from Minnesota to Dallas and retained the logo and history

i think it’s completely fine to incorporate some sort of design from old teams. for example with new jersey and colorado, i think of it in a way like the colorado rockies are the parents of jersey and the avalanche is like its step brother in a way. idk if that’s just me but i just feel like the stars have a closer relationship to the north stars then wild does even though they are in the same state.

Yes, If a team was going to pay homage to the Minnesota North Stars it would be the current franchise Dallas Stars. The Minnesota wild are completely different organization with absolutely no ties to the Minnesota North Stars. The Minnesota North Stars are the Dallas Stars; it is the same franchise. Those colors belong to the franchise not the state of Minnesota. When the Tennessee Titans wear their throwbacks it's of the Houston Oilers. The Houston Texans do not wear Oilers gear. You get it?
Dallas owns all rights, trademarks, history, stats and entities of the Minnesota North Stars, so yes, they indeed can use a jersey in the likeness of the North Stars, similar to Winnipeg, they simply bought the legal entities from the Arizona Coyotes and also paid the Toronto Maple Leafs money to use the maple leaf in their logo
Alright, me being a Minnesota Wild fan, and going back to your comments about moved teams using an old design from an old franchise (Dallas Stars to Minnesota North Stars), the answer is to look at the Minnesota Alumni game during the stadium series, the Minnesota Wild Alumni team used the Minnesota North Stars white jersey (sports.cbsimg.net/images/nhl/blog/Wild_Alumni_Jersey.jpg) to face the Blackhawks alumni team, the only difference was changing one of the shoulder patches to include the Wild logo. So I'm assuming that if location A had an NHL team, but the team in location A moved to location B, anything that was associated with the NHL team in location A would be forgotten in some way. (Atlanta Flames / Thrashers, Coyotes and Jets etc...) but if location A picks up another NHL team, that location is allowed to use remanence of the old teams logo or jersey. Plus not long ago the Minnesota Wild was selling North Stars blank jerseys (Green, White, and Yellow)on the team store website and maybe on the NHL site as well.
I think for the Dallas jersey situation it would make sense for them to pay homage to the North Stars, and it really comes down to two key point. First, Minnesota has not made an attempt to pay homage to the North Stars, but rather (solely based on their jersey designs) have distanced themselves from that Minnesota team. Second, the North Stars actually changed their uniforms before they moved out of Minnesota, and they were identical to the ones Dallas wore in their first few seasons. I honestly think because of that Dallas paying homage to the North Stars makes even more sense then Carolina paying homage to the Whalers. The Whalers has a completely different look to the Hurricanes, where as Minnesota had (basically) the same name as Dallas, and they even shared a look. (I am aware I am talking about the same team when mentioning the North Stars/Stars or the Whalers /Hurricanes, it is just easier to refer to them as separate entities for the sake of this discussion).
I guess i'll be quick. First , please no horizontal stripes on the pants. I like the Kings , Blue jackets , Phoenix , and Colorado in no particular order. Great job though.
With the Dallas one it’s just like in other sports, like baseball for example the Seattle Mariners sometimes wear the Seattle pilots jersey who were a team for one year 1969 and moved to Milwaukee became the brewers. The brewers don’t wear that though, but also the Washington Nationals sometimes wear the Montreal expos jerseys 🤷🏻♂️ so I guess it’s all about the city’s not having a team anymore that makes it ok. I’m personally ok with a team going with the history of the team but owners probably wanna go with the city instead.

Dallas can rock that jersey ! It doesn't have a Northstars logo it has their outdoor game logo. They should do it. As for NJ you are right because its already emplimented. NJ could use the old KC scouts logo lol. Also Toronto's jersey looks like the Raptors North Logo may be alittle shout out !
Because "Stars" is still in the name; Dallas should be able to wear that jersey. The numbers retired in the rafters (Masterson, Goldsworthy, Broten) have the North Stars logo on them. To date Mike Modano is the most well known and most successful North Stars and Stars player. The thing is though, I honestly think the Wild can wear it also. Not exclusive, equally allowed.
I wasn't a fan of a lot of them, mostly due to the vertical striping and colour/texture choices. I loved Columbus, NYR, Dallas, and Arizona the most. Being a Vancouver fan, I'm still waiting for somebody to make a Canucks jersey I can be happy with. *cough* Flying Skate *cough*

i think that the stars should be able to make a northstars jersey because they were that team. The devils should be able to make a rockies jersey. The avs can always make a nordiques alternate jersey which they are considering.

- BUFFALO: Another interesting design, using one of their alternate logos in the 90's. I'd put player numbers just above the point where the sabres cross inside the circle - a bit like what the Golden State Warriors used to do in the 1970's, I think.
- CAROLINA: I thought "did Boyan switch on the B&W filter by mistake"?
- COLUMBUS: That's quite a good look.
- CALGARY: And so's this one. I don't mind the horse head being the main logo this time.
- DALLAS: This is a bold one. Personally, I don't think the Stars should use the old North Stars looks, that's part of Minnesota's hockey heritage. But this is quite aggressive, in its simplicity.
- DETROIT: Simple, bold, clear. Some may say boring, but I don't.
- EDMONTON: "Looks like he's wearing shorts" - hockey players do wear shorts. I'm pretty sure no one's worn Cooperalls for a long time. Last time I saw someone wear Cooperalls was during a Solihull Barons game in the 1980's. Concerning the uniform, not bad.
- FLORIDA and LOS ANGELES: They seem to follow a template pattern, along with New Jersey. They remind me of what a company called Admiral Sportswear used to do with football (ie, soccer) jerseys in the 1970's. Of the three, I'd say Los Angeles is my fave, followed by New Jersey, then Florida.
- MINNESOTA: that wood fabric isn't doing it for me, I'm afraid.
- MONTREAL: It's a bolder design than their current duds. The fleurs-de-lis are nice touches, as they also pay homage to the Quebec Nordiques.
- NASHVILLE: Perhaps if the jersey was predominantly blue, I'm not keen on mustard as their main colour jersey.
- NEW JERSEY: refer to Florida and Los Angeles.
- NY ISLANDERS: I like the new logo, but I'd highlight the letters in white.
- NY RANGERS: a nice neat design, but I'd use a more updated version of the shield.
- OTTAWA: I can see why designers of these concepts prefer to use the early 90's Senators logo, it's more adaptable. It suits this uniform very well.
- PHILADELPHIA: Not a fan of the white shorts, but this is otherwise an uncluttered classic.
- PITTSBURGH: I like this uniform, but how about they use blue instead of yellow as their main colour?
- SAN JOSE: Yes, another good design.
- ST LOUIS: I was wondering how this look would be like without the red touches. It still holds well.
- TAMPA BAY: With the lighter blue touch and the bolt flashes, this is distinctive enough to differentiate it from Toronto - finally.
- TORONTO: The chevron reminds me of a uniform the Raptors used a couple of years ago.
- VANCOUVER: that's not a bad design.
- VEGAS: Oooh!! Almost every sports team in history never uses glitter in their design, and we now know why.
- WASHINGTON: I like to see a blue uniform with the Weagle as the main logo.
- WINNIPEG: This is a winner for me, even though it looks like the Jets are copying the Captain America uniform, ironically enough.

Even though some of these weren't great, it was really nice to see something different in the jerseys, a lot of concepts aren't wildly different from real-life jerseys the disigner did a great job of being different.

I believe that the Vegas jersey was a play on what knights wore. All the silver representing a knights armor and the gold, red, black representing their clans tunic they would wear over their armor. Taking that into account, i actually liked it, but probably a little to gimmick-y for pro sports.
My understanding is that the North Stars rights are connected to the Dallas franchise and require the Dallas permission to be used. The Alumni game for the Minnesota outdoor game a few years back required consent from Dallas for the North Stars logo usage, which they gave as the current owner wants to distance slightly from Minnesota due to the Wilds existence. Colorado are able to use elements of the Rockies due to the state flag having the same C as the Rockies logo but they couldn't straight up use the Rockies jersey without Devils consent.
Interesting fact though, Victory green is the same exact shade green as the North Stars wore in the cup run in 1991, and I believe for most if not all of their existence. Also the North stars jerseys on the NHL shop are only available from the Dallas page and not the Wild page.

No, the Minnesota Wild are a seperate franchise from the Minnesota North Stars, and the Owner changed the name from the North Stars to the Stars then moved the team from Minnesota to Dallas and retained the logo and history

i think it’s completely fine to incorporate some sort of design from old teams. for example with new jersey and colorado, i think of it in a way like the colorado rockies are the parents of jersey and the avalanche is like its step brother in a way. idk if that’s just me but i just feel like the stars have a closer relationship to the north stars then wild does even though they are in the same state.

Yes, If a team was going to pay homage to the Minnesota North Stars it would be the current franchise Dallas Stars. The Minnesota wild are completely different organization with absolutely no ties to the Minnesota North Stars. The Minnesota North Stars are the Dallas Stars; it is the same franchise. Those colors belong to the franchise not the state of Minnesota. When the Tennessee Titans wear their throwbacks it's of the Houston Oilers. The Houston Texans do not wear Oilers gear. You get it?

Dallas owns all rights, trademarks, history, stats and entities of the Minnesota North Stars, so yes, they indeed can use a jersey in the likeness of the North Stars, similar to Winnipeg, they simply bought the legal entities from the Arizona Coyotes and also paid the Toronto Maple Leafs money to use the maple leaf in their logo

Alright, me being a Minnesota Wild fan, and going back to your comments about moved teams using an old design from an old franchise (Dallas Stars to Minnesota North Stars), the answer is to look at the Minnesota Alumni game during the stadium series, the Minnesota Wild Alumni team used the Minnesota North Stars white jersey (sports.cbsimg.net/images/nhl/blog/Wild_Alumni_Jersey.jpg) to face the Blackhawks alumni team, the only difference was changing one of the shoulder patches to include the Wild logo.
So I'm assuming that if location A had an NHL team, but the team in location A moved to location B, anything that was associated with the NHL team in location A would be forgotten in some way. (Atlanta Flames / Thrashers, Coyotes and Jets etc...) but if location A picks up another NHL team, that location is allowed to use remanence of the old teams logo or jersey.
Plus not long ago the Minnesota Wild was selling North Stars blank jerseys (Green, White, and Yellow)on the team store website and maybe on the NHL site as well.
I think for the Dallas jersey situation it would make sense for them to pay homage to the North Stars, and it really comes down to two key point. First, Minnesota has not made an attempt to pay homage to the North Stars, but rather (solely based on their jersey designs) have distanced themselves from that Minnesota team. Second, the North Stars actually changed their uniforms before they moved out of Minnesota, and they were identical to the ones Dallas wore in their first few seasons. I honestly think because of that Dallas paying homage to the North Stars makes even more sense then Carolina paying homage to the Whalers. The Whalers has a completely different look to the Hurricanes, where as Minnesota had (basically) the same name as Dallas, and they even shared a look. (I am aware I am talking about the same team when mentioning the North Stars/Stars or the Whalers /Hurricanes, it is just easier to refer to them as separate entities for the sake of this discussion).

With the Dallas one it’s just like in other sports, like baseball for example the Seattle Mariners sometimes wear the Seattle pilots jersey who were a team for one year 1969 and moved to Milwaukee became the brewers. The brewers don’t wear that though, but also the Washington Nationals sometimes wear the Montreal expos jerseys 🤷🏻♂️ so I guess it’s all about the city’s not having a team anymore that makes it ok. I’m personally ok with a team going with the history of the team but owners probably wanna go with the city instead.

Because "Stars" is still in the name; Dallas should be able to wear that jersey. The numbers retired in the rafters (Masterson, Goldsworthy, Broten) have the North Stars logo on them. To date Mike Modano is the most well known and most successful North Stars and Stars player.
The thing is though, I honestly think the Wild can wear it also. Not exclusive, equally allowed.
