- The CSX family tree goes back almost 200 years and, much like the diverse employees who make up our #ONECSX team, it’s comprised of many heritage railroads. CSX locomotive shop employees are creating special paint designs for our predecessor railroads and recently unveiled CSX Locomotive 1827 which honors the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the first common carrier railroad in the United States.
Nice job, CSX. I can't wait for the Atlantic Coast Line unit... or Seaboard Air Line..... or L&N.... or Family Lines... well, you get the idea. Thanks!
Danny since then CSX Released 1871(ACL), 1850 (L&N) and 1972 (Family Lines) and your waits for these Units came true.

So glad to see y'all making official heritage unit. Considering your crew at Waycross has never done a fade job like that it looks great! Don't let these foamer railfans tell you otherwise. Y'all are making a heritage unit with a mix of both old and new schemes. The fade between B&O to CSX is a neat touch I have never seen any other railroad do and I am all for it. Looking forward to seeing the other projects y'all come out with!
There a reason why the other railroads don’t do that. Because it doesn’t look right most of the time.

I'm so glad CSX finally came around to the idea of heritage locomotives - and I appreciate that you found a creative way to put your own unique spin on the idea. 1827 came out great. Eagerly awaiting Boston & Maine and Maine Central... 😀
But fade to the present is not heritage unit material ya know.
What an ingenious concept the front is the present and then it fades into the past I think CSX did an amazing job. I am looking forward to seeing the Chessie system and the western Maryland railroad hopefully in the black red and white circus livery exemplified by western Maryland GP30 501 on the western Maryland scenic railroad.
The one I'm dying to see is the Chessie heritage. I can't wait for that one to roll out!
I’m waiting on a Chessie themed loco, the Chessie has always caught my eye because it was bold for a diesel paint scheme.
This has got to be run through Baltimore! And CSX should make a big deal about it too. It's a great tribute!

This is hands down my favorite heritage unit of CSX with chessie system coming in at a close second
Hopefully a Atlantic Coast Line and Seaboard Air Line units are on the list. I'm a life long railfan and model railroader and started painting my own CSX Heritage units about five years ago now. So far I have painted five units with several more on the drawing board. Very nice job you guys did, looking forward to seeing it on the rails 👍
There’s been rumors that both those will be made. Only time will tell though.
There's a list out there, but supposedly, there's some roads on that list that don't have jack to do with CSX.

The fade is a wonderful addition! Doing an air brush fade paint job takes skill!

Note: the Reason for the Fade is for CSX's Heritage of their Paint Schemes with their current scheme which is the YN3C.

honestly, the change from CSX on the nose to B&O on the long hood is kinda growing on me, I dig it, it would be cool if they did the full thing or tried a splitting line like 1776, but overall, I like it a lot, they did amazing on this, not bad, CSX
Same for me. I originally hated it, but the more I look at it, the more I think it's a neat design and concept. However, I'm worried about how this will look with some of the paint schemes that CSX may end up doing, I don't think the chessie system unit will work very well like this.
They should have put the modified B&O logo on the front. Massive missed opportunity there.
I think they should have done the fade a bit differently. Maybe intensify it, because the dark blue on the lighter dark blue kinda looks weird, like they've given up halfway through.

I had the pleasure of seeing this beauty on 2/10/24 in Deshler, OH when it was the leading engine on M246. Had a ditchlight out unfortunately.

The CSX fade on a heritage unit does not look great. IT LOOKS AWFUL! So I am giving this engine 30 out of 100 percent.

The fade looks a little strange, but honestly I'm glad CSX is doing this at all, plus, this gives it a unique identity compared to UP or NS.
CSX used the fade for it's Heritage of it's current scheme (The YN3C) and it's heritage to the fallen flag.

I gotta say, the faded scheme is almost genius. It’s a little too sharp but who am I to judge. It’s like they applied the heritage scheme to the long hood and their corporate paint to the cab to represent the timeline, B&O in the past but moving forward it is CSX

What a spectacular looking locomotive and paint job, I am glad that CSX has finally applied the B&O rr heritage paint scheme to one of their locomotives. I was starting to wonder when CSX would finally produce a B&O rr heritage scheme locomotive and now we finally get to see it.

Finally !!! I"ve heard how Union Pacific is a big part of American railroad history [ One of the few big American roads that has retained its original name] I agree. But I have always felt that CSX because of its B&O foundation or underpinnings deserves even greater recognition when it comes to American railroad history. That's where American railroading started. UP is aware of its place in American history. Promontory Point etc. But CSX has always seemed rather indifferent . I know history doesn't haul freight but I think it's something to be proud of. But this is a start and I think it looks very good..

B&O is the first railroad in this nation. Heard or Tom Thumb and the Horse? Heard of Monopoly? and Have you heard of the cars that look like wagons? That's B&O they are the first road in the CSX family tree the great granddaddy of all railroads.

Burlington Northern/CSX/Norfolk Southern/Union Pacific/CN/ Kansas Canadian Pacific and all that I injoy watching.
I would love to see this done to some of the older emd units like SD40-2s....but I understand those dont get seen much any more......maybe some of the new EMD units.....after all they were what got B&O so great back in the day!

@@kennethhanks6712 All I said is that I don’t like the unit and they should do the unit in full B&O paint. If they’re going to do heritage units, why not go all out and fully honor the predecessor railroads instead of changing something that didn’t need fixing. They did excellent on the OCS. Why not do the same for these.

I saw that engine in Berea Ohio.
Ngl, the fade kinda reminds me of the slope on the yn2 paint. I know some foamers have bashed this unit, but at least it's not another sticker unit and you get the idea by this point. I look foward to seeing an RF&P heritage unit, well if csx does decide to do the 25 units
They're not doing 25, they said they're gonna do some of these.
