Thanks for the review❤ Someone say the choices of normal game settings are different from the benchmark test. Is it true? I want to turn off the Depth of Field Effect, but this option is not enable in the benchmark test. 😢
Here's how I'll play this game on Steam Deck: I'll get the immersive and great experience with my PC for the first run or two, and if I really like the game and decide to complete it 100% and grind it out, I could see myself doing that on my Deck.
That’s great way to do it! I’d say you could use the deck to grind for your first run or two as well since it cloud saves (but doesn’t cloud save the settings).
if you switch to DX11, it turns off lumen getting you more performance. you are on Dx12 so you may get some extra performance that you can use to boost the res up.
Forcing DX11 through launch arguments stops the game from running entirely. We will test if there’s a way around it, but currently, just putting in the -dx11 launch option stops it from launching completely.
Enabling in-game v-sync combined with the Deck's FPS cap for some reason reduces input lag compared to using just the Deck limiter with v-sync off. No idea why this is the case but I've been "exploiting" this for a while in games without a better way of capping FPS.
Interesting. It shouldn’t work theoretically since this doubles the v-sync, but I’ll test it out. Though just doing the in-game limiter had almost no discernible input lag for me!
I'm hopeful the performance will only get better as time comes since the developers will get information with players providing data/reports through the week. hopefully this will be enough to dramatically improve BMW's performance for the Steamdeck specifically.
Did you try the mangohud launch parameter to limit the fps? Sometimes that’s better than the in game fps limiter and induces less input lag than the steam overlay fps limiter. Just curious if that would help smooth out the frame timing at all or if they actually implemented the in game fps limiter well.
