Good review, I have seen many people complain about the fit and finish and quality of Blackstone while you’re paying a premium price, this definitely makes up my mind to go with Next grill
I have a Blackstone and enjoy it. It's 3 years old and is going strong. Lots of options these days. Great comparison video. Like the stainless on the Nexgrill.
My choice would be the Sam's Club member mark griddle. LOL. I never see anybody using them in the comparison but that's okay. You always do a great job Tom and appreciate your videos.
I just got a 3 burner Daytona Nexgrill yesterday. Assembly was easy, and although I haven't cooked on it yet, I did go through the seasoning process today. I noticed that the cooktop was pretty consistent once it had a few moments. This is my first flattop, so I am new at this but look forward to it.
i have the 3 burner Daytona, same i thought the black stone was better because seeing friends cook on theirs and wanting one but the nexgrill daytona is awesome!! cook everything from burgers, fried rice, stir fry noodles, steaks this thing is a beast!! i catered our daughters 21st birthday with this and did street tacos, phenomenal job!! about 80 people and this griddle handled it.
I own a Blackstone for 3yrs now. Love it! Like other comments the grease tray in the back! The other grill is nicer for even heat but you used the sides of the grill for keeping food warm. Blackstone all the way!
Great review. I've passed by the Nexgrill numerous times at Home Depot. Might have to try it out. Impressed by the temperature consistency on the flattop.
We bought the Nexgrill from Lowes and my only complaint is that the shelves are the same height as the flattop so you can't use them for anything you can't get hot.
Thanks for doing this. I was dead set on getting the Blackstone until I saw the review of the Nexgrill. Id rather have stainless steel to clean. I'd be getting a cover for it.
I'll take that Blackstone simply because the nexgrill went overkill on the grease catchers. Those holes on those edges take away valuable cooking space, and I typically tend to use those edges on cooking surfaces. They really gotta rethink their grease trap.
I have both that I purchased for company party’s and IMO the Nexgrill is a better bang for the buck. It out performs when it comes to steady temps . The bigger grease holes are nice and do not impact cooking.
I have a 6 year old nexgrill stainless bbq and I never cover it. it's covered in snow in the winter and it still looks great. Zero rust on the stainless. Im a Nexgrill fan.
The ability for the Blackstone to be converted to natural gas is why I'd prefer it. I'm tired of schlepping LP tanks around, and I have NG coming into the house already, with an available port.
Blackstone all the way. According to your temps the blackstone read more consistently across the whole grill. The other grill was 400 to almost 600 in different spots. Yes i like the stainless steal lid, but then again to keep that thing looking good would take a lot of maintenance on it. Grease traps on both sides are a fail for me, takes up cooking real-estate. Also I dont know what you gonna be cooking at 550 to 600 degrees for most foods, that just to dang hot for what you need. Great video.
I've got a CharGrill 36"/4 burner with a lid(not hinged though). Bought for sub $350 at my Menards. Love it! Other than the non-hinged lid and 1/2 the price, I don't see much difference between it and the Blackstone. Grease hole is front corner. Has worked well in 25mph swirling wind with no flame-outs. Best way to learn your griddle is to use it. Thought about the griddle tops for my charcoal Weber, but really enjoy the multiple great zones, and size of cooking surface. Great video comparison as always. Keep it up.
Cheaper alternative: lodge cast iron griddle on an old Weber Genesis. That how I roll. Cast iron pans, especially the 12 inch size, can also be used like a griddle. This eliminates the need for a specialist grill like a blackstone. Huntsaker and SnS make flat top griddles for Weber kettles too. Again. Less expensive than a standalone griddles.
It's very close. I'd be interested to see comparison with Members Mark. Not sure I would want to mess with 2 grease traps tho. I do like the front basket on BS. I have & enjoy the Chargriller Flat Iron. Fyi, 11% Rebate from Menards.
Great video and comparison as usual. I had a Blackstone and really was not that impressed. I really liked the Blue Rhino Razor 2 burner folding griddle. I did not use it much so it was nice that it just stood up in the corner of the garage when not in use.
I have had nexgrill griddle. It cooks good but the lid rusts bad after using for about 6 months. The customer service sucks big time for nexgrill. The burners rust out fast as well. Got rid of the nexgrill due to rust issues. Went out got a blackstone grill about a year ago. No rust, customer service is great and cooks just as good. You get what you pay for. I live in Florida so cheap stainless steal rusts fast.
Tom, thank you for this video. I had a blackstone and always had rodents going in there and pooping on my griddle. Had to sell it because i cant deal with that... I bought this Nexgrill now since it has 0 gaps for rodents to get in which is great! i only have one concern, the Nexgrill is made of mild hot rolled steel while the blackstone is cold rolled steel, which is better quality. I heard ppl complaining of the Nexgrill warping for them, is that a common thing? have you had that issue? Thank you!
Pit Boss Sierra from Walmart or the 4-burner from Lowe's is really what you've gotta try Tom! I was super skeptical, but the reviews were all fantastic of that new non-stick surface on the Sierra. Holy smash burgers batman! I've been using that thing two or three times a week for six weeks now. I even took it to a college football tailgate last weekend. It cleans up in like 3 minutes - no scraping, nothing sticks. Even the design of the grease trap - it's perfect! I even cooked pizza on it:) Anyway - another great installment in this video, but I am really itching to see what you would think of the Pit Boss:) Cheers.
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ One other detail your other subscribers may find of interest, the Nexgrill offers a natural gas conversion kit, or at least they did when I looked at them midsummer. Blackstone, they are more difficult to convert.
Would be slam dunk for the Nexgrill except for the double grease catchers. Just seems like would cut down effective cooking area by a good margin and lead to food falling down there inadvertently enough times to be super annoying
I’ve had a griddle for a long time now. Can’t tell me you aren’t gonna lose a lot of food down those Nexgrill grease holes no matter how careful you’re being. After using a griddle for a long time, that one issue is a deal breaker for me.
You have to change the way you cook. I take any scraps and push to the back. Pick it up with the scraper or whatever and throw it in the trash. Liquid and grease can go down the funnel. Just took the griddle top off today to clean. It's not hard to clean. Two screws soak it in some Dawn and it's shiny. But that top is horribly heavy. My back hurts from wrestling it. That just reaffirms that I won't scrap any solids down there for sure. Can't even get lazy or you're screwed. NOW... the cooktop temp consistence is the best I've seen. Guess it's all part of "griddling". It all can take a little extra work.
The 3-burner Nexgrill only has drains on one side. The cooking surface area really isn't that much smaller, as I would probably opt for the 3-burner instead.
There is only one way to fine out which cooks better. And you have to cook some real world food on them. Pancakes, burgers, grilled onions, steaks, hash browns etc. That is the only way to tell which will perform ideally.
No safety features on either of them but I’ve noticed that on US model griddles. Here in the UK you can’t just turn the knob and have gas flowing that’s a BIG safety issue. We have to hold it in then click the ignition, does the gas turn off if you blow the flame out? Probably not, on our griddles they certainly do. They’re probably made in the same factory but if they’re coming to UK we need that safety feature.
Really nice comparison Tom! I’ve been looking at griddles for a while. The Nexgrill SS top is nice. Camp Chef has a good wind management system as it’s always windy here. Loco griddle seems very well built too. The Pitt Boss ceramic griddle top makes clan up easier. Lots of choices out there. Looking forward to seeing upcoming videos on these. Thanks for sharing Tom! Cheers.

The one they have for 199 is the 3 burner model.
