Story wise for Genealogy, I think the implication is that the Fire Emblem is Arvis himself. Very powerful and capable of good, but just as capable of wrongdoing when in the wrong hands. You might say the Fire Emblem is traditionally used as an object, tool, or weapon, but unfortunately Arvis was deceived into effectively being all three of those things by the Loptr cult.

Never thought of the symbolism that way! It's an interesting take on it for sure, probably a more abstract interpretation of it.
