2:34 and 3:28 I'm not easily impressed but damn. The soundtrack in this game is phenomenal. And lets never forget Nobuo Uematsu for the original masterpieces.
“Aerith is gone. Aerith will no longer talk, no longer laugh, cry...or get angry...what about us...what are WE supposed to do? What is this pain...My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning!" 💔
There will be Aerith in the next game, she will play a part until Cloud accepts reality and sees that in her world, that she is truely gone. That will be the hardest hitting moment. When it flashes back to this point and he sees what really happened. Heart breaking.
@@Antwerp87I wonder if they’ll make her at least temporarily playable, much like Zack was in Rebirth - another unfortunately very dead character in our current Remake timeline
@4:55 this is when I had to pause and put the controller down. This is when you realize she really is gone. The music solidified the slow reality that she isn’t coming back. Aerith isn’t coming back, forreal this time.
"And so it begins. A confluence of worlds...and emotions. Loss, chief among them. It engulfs fleeing moments of joy, transforming them into rage, sadness, hatred. Never have I felt them so keenly."
Her theme playing at integral parts of the game always took me by surprise and made me gasp. This game is a loving tribute to our flower girl from the slums.
Everyone did an amazing job arranging this piece. From starting out with a tragic version of Aerith's theme which switches to a more hopeful version as Cloud sees her wake (while still sad as everyone else sees Aerith as having fallen), as well as Sephiroth and Jenova's leitmotifs battling for dominance, before Aerith's theme wins out. Which appears to be a good enough summary of the ending itself.
It's such a great representation of the the sub theme stablished by On The Way to a Smile and continued ever since. The white lifestream vs the black lifestream, Aerith vs Sephiroth.
3:30 I thought they will use jenova theme when we fighting jenova lifeclinger then suddenly aerith theme making me almost burst out crying but I hold on to it until I kick sephiroth a** for killing aerith
This sounds like Aerith’s Theme and One-Winged Angel/JENOVA are literally fighting over whether she gets to live or die. Sure would have been nice if the game actually _answered_ that question, but I guess cliffhangers gotta hang.
Well, ouf version of Aerith died because Sephiroth negated Cloud's intervention. But there's at least one version of Aerith that's still alive. The ending where Cloud's the only one who can see the tear in the sky implies that he can see across the divide into the other 'world' where a version of Aerith lived.
@@zjuraeventide8949 I don't view that as her being alive, I think that in every timeline, Sephiroth kills Aerith since he knows her power. The ending credits Aerith that Cloud see's is because of his broken psyche, she isn't real, he is in denial over her death. Its also why any scene from Clouds PoV from the end of the game is cut out of the end credits sequence.
@@Beytill113Red sensed her pet him at the end. So your entire theory falls apart just from that 1 moment alone. SE intentionally put that in to show it’s not in clouds head.
@@zjuraeventide8949 Idk if our version is dead DEAD, it looked like both outcomes (the "original" one where cloud saved her, and the "forced by sephiroth" one where she died) were trying to outwrite each other, with uncertain success on both ends (Tifa was also seeing both outcomes flash before her eyes). There's also Red sensing her presence, and the worlds potentially beginning to "merge" at the end of Rebirth. I guess only part 3 will give us a final answer.
@@elowei9919 Red is also more attuned to the Lifestream, so him sensing her literally means absolutely nothing, lol. She's literally in the Lifestream at this point, unless Jenova is Jenovaing.
If it was ripped from the Game's Audio, that may be a moment where the game does that by itself without player intervention. I've noticed it in a bunch of the videos that are ripped straight from the game. Nothing to actually do about it except wait for SE to drop the OST themselves. I heard April but that could be wrong...
man aerith theme always hits me but this version is another level of gut-wrenching
Man, I guess I'll never be able to listen to this without those ending scenes flashing before my eyes...
Did you enjoy the game? I adored it. I actually loved the end of the game. It made me decide this to be GOTY

That transition into the Jenova fight back into her theme had me having to pause to regain myself.

The music is truly special. I've read many people who dislike the handling of the game but I haven't read anyone who disliked the OST.

You know the game is no longer to stop sephiroth, but to revenge for Aerith after she died.
