Getting into Cosmo Canyon, I’m convinced they placed the first group of enemies where they are so that you could immediately get that hit of the main theme as soon as you get into battle. Made the whole thing feel so triumphant!
That key change around the 03:05 mark gives me goosebumps every time. One of the standout arrangements in an already absolutely incredible OST. Rebirth HAS to win soundtrack of the year.
Soundtrack of the year is an understatement. I have been gaming for 40 years and think this might be the best video game soundtrack (in terms of sheer volume of track and quality) of all time. I didn't think anything could top the OG FF6,7,8,9 games that always had a place in my heart growing up.
I always rewind to this part when it ends. Is it just me but do any of yall just listen to the music but you look at the characters posing and just imagine that when playing the game and hear the music, you just imagine how much cooler the characters are to have such an amazing song playing behind the character. Like do these characters know how epic these songs are🤣
It’s not even that this is just a grade SSS video game soundtrack of the year, but it’s also the transition into it from the region song. It threw me for an absolute “must turn up volume” vibe. This is a certified banger and I’m 100% sure someone at Squenix thought to put that 1st battle where it is so it hits right away at the buildup.
As soon as the 1:36 mark of the song hits during a battle, it made it so damn epic that I was searching for fiends to fight around that music queue just to hear it again during combat.
This is the most awful song on the soundtrack. It's like when a jazz musician is constantly modulating and reharmonizing just to show off mastery of abstract theory and technical prowess but without creating anything that resonates with a non-musician. There are just so many things going on in every single Cosmo Canyon song. Add the sound effects and character battle chatter to this one and it's just a cluster----. Sometimes less is more.

Hell Yeah ! I got IT too ❤
1:36 🔥 🔥 Enter battle at this moment, and you'll never want to leave the canyon
Western as hell. I adore this. Had to pause the game when this kicked in my first Cosmo Canyon fight
1:36 this is so good it’s unbelievable. If this doesn’t win soundtrack of the year something is wrong.
A bit of FF12 vibes here. I imagine a crossover event where Vaan and company arrive at the outskirts of Midgar

Best regular battle theme in the game for sure. Say what you want about the game, but the soundtrack is a masterpiece xD

It sounds so cinematic when it gets to that part
10/10 best video game soundtrack of 2024
Screaming, crying, throwing up.

It's legit genius writing.
This theme is very Disney. Lion King almost. Man imagine if Disney and Square made a .... hold on a sec lol
Don’t finish it plz
It is actually extremely Kingdom hearts-sounding!
Man I wanna see Clive meeting Sora. Maybe Clive working in his world and taking Sora under his wing.....it's his thing
Now I'm sad that Red XIII didn't show up in the Pride Lands...
Like storm trooper making love to a frog
This song IS FF7.
Magical
Charlie thanks for posting baby. I will have u in my prayers🙏
0:13 love this part
A remix of this should be awesome !
As much as I love this song, I wish it were a rendition of Red’s theme that played during the open world battles!
Holy shit!
No idea why the soundtrack turns Scottish at some point but daaaamn i’m here for it
In the real game I can’t even get to 1:36 cause Aerith is freaking OP 😂
Also John Powell anyone? (How to Train your Dragon composer)
goty
